Love your work Stu. I started as a Brickies Labourer when I left school, I know the challenges what with the weather etc. I went to Australia & worked for a Brickie for a year, (Gang of 3 Brickies ) non stop all day, even in the Heat. I ended up being a Chippie over here. Having seen good & bad Brickies, I can say you are a Goodun. All the best from Down Under.

Good going on your own mate, I'm a bricky in Manchester, just a trick that me and my dad use is when you build off the lintel put some 4x1 along the bottom of it propped with some Batons or whatever you have and it won't give and you can go higher, keep it up mate

Thanks for the positive comments lads, listen there will always be people picking at my work it just tells me a lot about those types of people, to watch a 10 min video purposely looking for faults your in a bad place in life, I've been there. I produce this content for free and I try to help people, I will never reply to people who pick at my work I just hid there comments forever on my channel so nobody can see their sadness. Thank you to all that appreciate the free content I produce. Stay safe, never react to people who try drag you down, they're already below you for a reason. A lot of other people copying my content which is a compliment, you can buy the same paint as an artist but you can never ever copy and artist imagination 👍

Nice brickwork stu, im looking at getting back into bricklaying as i never got the chance to make a career of it seen as once i qualified as a level 2 bricklayer from barnsley college i got hit with the recession so there was no work so i never got the chance to get going. You're videos are pushing me ever so harder to give it a good go this time, I'm just in the middle of getting my cscs card, i think i might need to labour and learn on site as i never got the chance to get site experience. I've subscribed to your channel and watch all your videos and keep learning bits that will help me on site, cheers stu and keep up the good work fella 👍

I know it's an old vid but that's just smart mate. You make it look like baking a cake. I just had a joker I payed 3200 for a small porch and tried laying on the council flags on the front. Not even dug out footings. Told me he lifted the flags and footings underneath. Got my cash back minus 96 quid and off he popped on the end of my foot. 🙄😂

Fantastic Stu. Great job & nice skill. Started watching your golf journey and can see your methodical like most top pros. See it in your work. My Dad and his brothers were bricklayers & their Dad in Glasgow. It was a very tough game and my Grandad worked 6 days in a big squad and got a half of whisky at the end of the week. He Died at 58 because he couldn't draw a breath with all the smog. What's your best golf score to date.

Good job looks great! I have a couple of questions. Shouldn't the bricks on top of the lintel be placed without mortar under them and with a couple of weep holes? I think it would be better to have a wider piece of membrane and run it up the inner wall, that way when water seeps in through the outer wall the water will not be able to flow inward but instead flow out through some weep holes. But it still looks cool as hell!

Great work stu 👍 quick question, have you ever done any lime work? I can't really find any decent videos on RU-vid about lime mortar and lime rendering...
@harryhoon39
@harryhoon39 5 лет назад
Yes mate it's hard to find as it is more around conservation work I.e stone masons. But saying that it is really not that much different from understanding cement mortar. Only it needs more time to go off, keep it moist but not wet and don't let it flash set as it fails. Look into histircal conservation work and you will have more luck finding what you need to know. I am a brickie by trade but where I live I have to use lime in stone work more often than bricks, best thing is test pannels if unsure to practice and also the temp effects it more. If you have questions people have helped me on RU-vid before and I might be able to help out. Good luck

Beautiful work, Stu, thanks for another great video. You make it look easy! Question for you, the brick you're using looks 'chalky' compared to most of the brick we get in the north east USA. The brick I see here looks almost like glass. What's the lowest temps your brick work has to endure there? We get stretches of 10 to 15 below zero F, -26C.
