This is the type of bricks I have on my front garden and I always wondered how it was achieved. Thank you for your wisdom!

Thanks for posting this. About to lay brick today and this is exactly the part I needed to know how to do. Hint: Don't add music to videos.

Many thanks for the tutorials, Stu. Would it be possible to do something giving advice on footings required for different types of build? I need to build a 3.6x2.5 conservatory base. I've done pointing and built a garage wall back in and tidied up window and door installations. Kind Regards, Gary.

+Gary J. Flaxman always depends on the quality of the growing Gary, dig until you find solid clay ground. If you don't find it then you need it piling 👍

Thats a great tool mate, can you confirm to a Noob like me that if you use this method then the bricks must be frost proof as the faces would have more of a chance of of freezing off beccause of easier water penetration on the brick ?. I say this because the twats who did my front drive walls never did and the faces on a lot of the bricks came off :(

Do you boys in the UK strike joints after you rake? I'm not trying to be that guy and I know this is just a quick little tutorial but just curious as a bricky from Canada. Love seeing the vids, helps promote bricks all be it maybe not necessary in uk but over here we are a dying trade

G RaM hello from London, Ontario! I am in my early forties, and you are right about the dying trade part. All the guys I work with are older than me, with a few exceptions. I once worked with an Englishman, and he too, called the tool a chariot. Different geography, different terms. Cheers!

Great brick tutorials. Really appreciate it. The music was a tad loud making it hard to hear your instructions. Might be an idea to fade the music a bit during times when your talking and then back in for the demonstration only. Well done otherwise!

Is this the chariot the king seahorse uses? To hide from the sparrows? Is this why they wanted the parrot to fall on its head with the witch?

Could you do a video on starting a bricklaying business? I'm currently half way through my bricklaying apprenticeship and I'm looking to do my own work on the weekends and evenings. Awesome videos by the way!

Ive started trying 2 point my dads house to save him money but im struggling as im not a builder or tradesman its old Accrington brick semi detached house the bricks are knackered im using 4-1 mix with plasterciser but im struggling getting a flush finish on the bricks ive tried using bucket handle pointer but its no good is a chariot used for this type of finish ? as I say no experience in this I wasn't sure whether a chariot was used for removing old mortar or like on this video its used for finishing of slightly wet cement ?
@Stucrompton1
@Stucrompton1 7 лет назад

it's funny how this type of finish is becoming more popular with new commercial buildings? the job I'm on up newcastle is a nightmare, red brick but just as awkward as Staffordshire blues and the mucks like pea soup everyday total pain to rake out even after 8hrs
