I Built this Bridge using my tractor and a modified dirt scoop, but this project can be built by hand as well. The railroad ties are easy to acquirer, sometimes even Free if you know where to look. Please do your own research on the load specs of these beams.
Tractor: Kubota L285

Cool project - thanks for sharing! I love bridges! We had to build one too, and it was a LOT of work. Liked your setup.

Has the creek ever gotten high enough to wash over the bridge? How has it held up?

Yeah I’m actually going to clean the trail up in a few days. It’s blends in with nature very well

@@RaztechPowersports I would like to know how it held up overtime too. I've got a similar problem. We have a dry creek that cross our fence line, only have problems when it rains a lot. Tried a pretty small culvert, but it overwhelms it during big rains and gets washed out. I live near a rail road and I always watch out for when they are getting rid of old cross ties. I have 2 dump truck loads of them right now. I think they will make a good bridge. I'm just interested to know if there was excess washout with your bridge. Cool video! Thanks!

@@NickBoen-o8s still holding up great! I’ve driven my kubota L2501 over it multiple times as well with no issues. Rock solid!

Need same thing you built, ATV/foot bridge but span will be wider. Did those RR Ties come in at 8'6"? Any idea how to do longer spans with RR Ties?
@RaztechPowersports
@RaztechPowersports 3 года назад
Yeah do but they are really hard to find. I would check out your local rail yard. Typically you can get the used ones for free

@@RaztechPowersports Thanks sir, free is good! My problem is gonna be the span of the creek at my property line, it is well over the 8.5" RR tie length. (We have a lumber yard here with them but never thought about a rail yard - got a couple of those around here in east Texas.) There is a double trunk tree felled (pushed over by a previous logging job I believe) I may try to use as the crossing pieces.

@@ktrezise1 Yeah it’s all about being resourceful but also building it to last. Cost of big lumber is pricey so the railroad ties are a steal

If you add 2X8 treated lumber on top perpendicular to the beams, the loading would never be on a single beam. Although your bridge is strong enough now, over time, a single beam can weaken. Great ingenuity, otherwise.
@RaztechPowersports
@RaztechPowersports 2 года назад
For sure but for the intended use, it’s very strong. Decking it would have cost a pretty penny too 🙁

@@RaztechPowersports New ties support 25,000lbs each. I'm sure your used one can handle your 4,000 lb tractor. I'm building a trestle bridge on my property with ties.
