daaaaaaamn "the future you 12 months or 12 years out needs the current you to do something now. What are you going to do." dunno why but that hit me so hard.
Often it's flashes of the blindingly obvious like this that having someone around you to ask questions and eek it out of you that helps the most. Glad you found it helpful 🙏
This was honestly one of my favourite interviews Ali, thank you so much for the opportunity to be a guest, meet you **AMAZING** team, and even coach you through building out not one, but two business ideas. An absolute pleasure 🙏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Thank you Robin and Ali for this great interview, I listenned till the end. 😉 Your advices gave me a different approch to finally start my business, best wishes from Hungary!
@@richardujlaki9361 thank you so much Richard, I'm glad you enjoyed it and got value from the interview. It was a lot of fun recording the interview too!
This was not just a podcast...but like a masterclass, where you pause and answer the questions yourself. Honestly, I never felt this this much doable before this. He made it so easy to understand and start the business.. Thanks Ali and Robin ✨️
For the last couple of years I’ve been telling myself that I need to start a leadership coaching business. I’ll get super amped up and feel the energy tipping me into action, then all the doubt and fear rushes in and I fall back down. I’ve been following Ali for a year and I’ve felt the energy rising, teetering on that tipping point. This episode felt like it was made for me specifically… so thanks, Ali, for doing all this for just me 😉 Robin, your approach and line of questioning and uncovering really hit me to the core. That just shows how well you understand people and their pains. I know I have value to offer, a deep passion to back it, and skills to excel. Now it’s about taking the next step (the “hardest one” for you Sanderson fans) and put it all into action. It’s scary, it’s difficult to mentally commit to it, but it feels right. You two are magicians. Thank you.
Hey Jake, thank you for taking the time to share this and be vulnerable in doing so. I totally hear you and can feel that fear. I get a sense from what you’ve said that you’re feeling this is an “all or nothing” move for you possibly (consciously or unconsciously)…but there is a world where you can dip your toe in while not feeling like you have to risk everything. 🙌🏻🙌🏻 Reach out to me if you want to chat it through 🙏🏻🙌🏻 it would be a pleasure to see if there’s a path which isn’t so scary for you.
I think this comment represents most people. This show was amazing because it lays out steps to get started for people who have a form of “writer’s block”
This is one of the best shows that you have had. This was my first introduction to Robin and I was really impressed with the conversation the two of you had. Some wonderful advice and I enjoyed the overall style of his communication.
Thank you Val 🙏🏻🙏🏻 that conversation was reflected in it being one of my favourite business conversations I’ve had the pleasure of having too in my 19 years on business!! So I’m super happy it’s been reflected by those listening/watching on too 🙏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
What a brilliant episode. I picked up Take Your Shot from your recommendation back in 2021 and that's how I first heard about Robin. So great to see you both together like this. Super useful
This was truly a masterclass. I have a background in law and business and there was more value provided here than in all the business-related college and law school classes I ever took.
Thank you, that’s super kind of you to say. I did a degree in business management and I always say I’ve perhaps used less than 5% of what I learned in four years of that degree throughout my career. University business degrees would be so much better if they actually sent you out into the wild to start a real business during those 3-4 years!!
@@RobinMWaite duuude thanks for reaching out. You’re sick! Your book simplified what I felt I already knew, and was hearing from everyone. But I simply applied the lessons to my photography and video service business. You’re a goat, I hope you know!
@@CallejasMichael that's super kind of you my man! Honestly. And amazing that the book inspired you to make the changes. I always set out with it to have five simple, actionable business models that anyone with a service could implement...even one of them, and it would make a difference. It sounds like mission accomplished!! Epic!
Ali certainly made me work for it! But equally Ali is a great coachee and student and open to new ideas so he was amazing to work with through his ideas! Glad you enjoyed it and thank you for the lovely complement as well. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
This deep dive was outstanding. Like a classic I'll want to go back to and reference consistently(: Thanks for using your platform to make conversions with interesting people more accessible
Ah!! Amazing! You heard the shoutout. Your videos are awesome Benjamin, I’m always telling people to check out your socials follow you when they ask for Sales Trainers to follow 🤩🙌🏻🙌🏻
This makes it so bite sized and easy to comprehend. I love this! I always thought that there is no need to have a business coach or something of the sort, but I learned so much from his methodology. Amazing interview!
Thank you, that’s super kind of you to say 🙏🏻 for my first five years in business I thought I had it all figured out and it wasn’t until I started picking up books, listening to podcasts and speaking with mentors and coaches that I realised the value in developing myself. Coaching comes in many forms, the mere fact you follow Ali and his podcasts shows you’re already coaching and developing yourself so kudos 👊🏻👊🏻 keep it up and thank you for your support for Ali and my interview with him 🙌🏻🙏🏻
Thank you Ali for this amazing interview!! Really enjoyed it!❤ Audible should be platinum sponsor of this show. I probably spent over $100 of audio books just from this episode 💵
This interview is so good! I'm only half way through but I need to go back and take detailed notes! I've paid £xxxx's for a business mentor and they delivered half the value in these clear steps like Robin does. Off to get his book on audible and I'll be back to this video
That's so awesome to hear Kayleigh, thank you for the kind words and for your support. I'd love to know what you biggest takeaway is from the interview?
@@RobinMWaite So I stopped listening halfway through the interview to read your book (which I finished in a day). So from the first half, I got that positive mindset and belief is essential. Always be customer focused when selling so the customer can see the value and see the fair exchange for the cost. From the second half, there was more of a focus on making sure that you are building good habits (like working out daily and protecting your time) so you don't burnout and can be with your family to make you succeed. That's just a few that really stand out to me, but there's so much more. Gotta go and write your Amazon review now ;)
What. An. Episode!!!! Wow. Ali, all your podcasts are incredible but this one was on a whole other level. The fact that we can put ourselves in your position and answer the questions and get this coaching for free, is super valuable. So much respect, gratitude and insights for all that you and Robin shared here. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Epic, thanks so much for your amazing feedback and I’m glad to hear you got so much value from it Belinda 🙌🏻🙌🏻 keep us posted on how the implementation goes and come back to me with any questions or if you get stuck.
This has been the most impactful interview I’ve heard of yours. Great interaction by both of you, with amazingly insightful helps. Putting it into action today 🤗
Such great information in this podcast! My wife owns a photography business and looks like I'll be teaching her the majority of what is talked about here, thank you!
Awesome, Chris, that’s so great to hear. Thank you for taking the time to drop a comment in and let us know too. Judging by your avatar it looks like you’ve got your hands full too! Being a Dad with a business is a lot of fun!!
@@RobinMWaite Hey Robin. You made my day commenting on my comment. I definitely enjoyed this podcast and you taught me a lot about business. I look forward to reading your book and implementing the strategies you suggest.
@@chrisdelafuente8489 it's my pleasure, I like to give everyone at least a thank you or hello, although it's been a bit hectic the past week!!! I hope you enjoy the book and do reach out if you want any help with anything 🙌
This interview was so amazing, it made it so much easier for me to create my offer which I have been struggling to do for the past few months, thank you so much
Another amazing podcast! My mind is blown 🤯 If you’ve ever had an idea but didn’t even take the first step because of self-doubt/fear/excuses/level of difficulty/lack of knowledge or experience, etc, this is the video for you. If you thought your idea was too simple, unoriginal, obvious or “stupid”, it really can be as easy and enjoyable as Robin says 😊 I love how you workshop the whole process in the simplest, fastest, most efficient way possible while also unpacking a lot of the stories people tell themselves, guiding them to overcome their fears and limiting beliefs to just do the thing they want to do and be happy and successful along the way. Totally recommend to upcoming and up-and-running entrepreneurs. I wish I had this video in my life 2-3 years ago!
This is epic Courtney, thank you so much for taking the time to write your comment up 🙏🏻🙌🏻 and I’m glad you found it helpful observing me coach Ali through his ideas.
Thank you so much for this episode, I took so many notes and actually feel confident in pursing my own business. I have been loving your podcast and it has helped me on my life audit of year this year. Thank you Ali
Amazing, Robin and Ali! I especially loved seeing Ali’s face light up with “aha!” moments during the role play. Robin was so in the zone, it looked effortless-I’m in awe.
Thanks Regina 🙂 it takes a lot of practice and experience to make it look effortless and working with Ali was an absolute joy as he absorbs everything. The time absolutely flew by.
Ali has the best attitude! My chat with him for this interview was possibly my highlight of the year. He's so chilled and open minded and eager to learn.
Thank you for giving advice in entrepreneurship and I absolutely love your podcasts, Ali. And also thanks Robin for giving free book pdf. I'll take it ❤.
Really enjoyed this episode. The role play was super useful! It really resonated with me as I have a similar thought process to Ali. Thanks so much to you both :)
Hi Dr. Abdaal, Hello Robin, Wow! this was a great episode! I'm looking forward to reading your book and yes, I'll be replaying this episode to take down more notes. Cheers!
@@RobinMWaite Hello Robin, Thank you, will do. I recognized many of the procrastination techniques you mentioned while I prepare to launch a RU-vid channel.... I'm working on getting to good and to stop trying for perfection as it's postponing success.
@@triingtimes5267 don't worry, you're in good company as 9/10 people procrastinate regularly in their lives/business. Normally there's a fear associated with NOT doing something. So perhaps look at those fears...with trying for perfection it might be that the fear is of it not being good enough or maybe fear of looking a bit stupid or being judged. However if you get just one video out and it helps just one person, or two, or ten maybe...how many people does it need to impact for making the video and releasing it to be a no-brainer for you?
Ali… ARE you coming to Austin TX?? Will you be presenting anywhere??? I would LOVE to see you if you come to town!! ❤ REALLY value and appreciate all your work!
Awesome, I’m so glad you enjoyed our conversation, it helps as Ali is so easy going and a great host (and willing coachee!!!) - thank you for the kind words and support with getting the audio of Take Your Shot 🙏🏻🙌🏻
@@RobinMWaite certainly, Ali's always open to some coaching😉 Definitely enjoyed the practical advice and examples you discussed & can't wait to implement my ideas😁
@@RobinMWaite Thanks for your reply! I'm working as a web developer (my unfair advantage), the first idea I'm going to implement will be a website development business, a client will pay a monthly subscription and he will benefit from professional website development and ongoing maintenance services. Does that sound realistic?
This podcast is amazing 🤩 Listening again because the gems dropped on here are GREAT! Thank you so much - lots of notes and ready for action 🎉 Thanks Ali and Robin for a great episode
Thank you Vanessa, glad to hear you enjoyed our conversation and got plenty of notes from it. Did you find the link for the signed copy of Take Your Shot as well 😉
@@RobinMWaite I did indeed - it was a great short book with a powerful messages. I think many of us get carried away with making things overly complicated immediately but there is a process and with consistency it will naturally evolve
@@iamvanessabrown you're 100% right! It fits into Parkinson's Law - if you give a 2hr task 8hrs you'll make it four times more complicated to fill up the time...or do nothing for 6.5hrs and then have to rush it in 1.5hrs!!! I'm a big fan of keeping things simple! Pleased to hear you enjoyed the book 😀
Definitely one of my favourite interviews that you did Ali! As someone aspiring to have their own graphic design business, I found the example you had for a relationship coaching business really helpful, but I was just curious to know how this sort of strategy would translate to a product business where you sell products instead of services?
What a great question Renee. From a pricing perspective it's the same process, when you productise a service the principles are the same. The values might differ, but the processes you would go through (Goal Focussed Pricing, Graduated/Incremental Pricing Strategy, Testing the Market etc) would be near enough the same in practice.
Hi Ali and Robin ! I’m from the USA! Great video! I saw this video today and so glad I did. I was thinking of launching a business and this helped me a lot. Thank you so much ❤
Everything you have said in this video is absolutely true. Reading and life long learning helped me to become an entrepreneur for my first business and my current one too. After watching this video with you and Ali. I have the courage to start my next business adventure. I already subscribe to your channel. Thanks again for the transparency and great content! Please never stop creating your videos ! ❤
Wonderful episode! I took so many notes, i love the conversational flow, Ronin is so knowledgeable, and inspirational and ypur question's were on point. Thank you! ❤
This was a very insightful interview, especially the role-playing parts. I'm always a bit sceptical of people that call themselves "business coaches" as there seem to be a lot of pretenders in the space. However, Robin sounded authentic, knowledgeable, and seasoned at what he does (not to mention his business background). I took away a lot by just watching and listening to the interview alone. It will definitely make me consider a business coach at this level in the near future.
I’ll be really honest 7 years ago when my coach suggested I’d, “Make a great business coach!” I properly got the ‘ick’ as I knew the world I’d be stepping into. So I hugely appreciate your support and lovely feedback, thank you 🙏🏻 It’s an unregulated industry and “certified” coaches know about the ethical/moral code of conduct you sign up to as a coach. While I don’t hold an official certificate to say I’m a business coach (I’m very open about this) I vowed right from day 1 that I would follow the coach’s code of conduct as closely as I can. Part of that is having a trusted team of associate coaches who I can rely on to make referrals when things shift outside of my core areas of expertise.
@@RobinMWaite I’ve always aspired to break the mould and leave the 9-5 behind. Just over two years ago I started my business Altech Electrical Limited. The process and personal challenges you talk about are so relatable to my current situation with a young family. I received your book ‘Take your shot’ in the post today, genuinely excited to see what it has to offer.
@@nathoon1 awesome, I'm so glad the book has arrived safely, I hope you enjoy reading it. I just checked out your business as well...49 reviews on Google is not easy to achieve so it looks like you're doing a fantastic job, obviously you're a very driven individual. Amazing work!
Been subscribing to your channel for a few months now, and I always find that I take something out of them. I’m only 18 minutes into this video and already thinking about how I can ask myself the questions that Robin is asking you during the “role play” and it gives me the confidence that everything that I’m looking to start now on my own are the right things to be doing. Thanks for the great content Ali 👏
That's so awesome Matt, it sounds like you've got good value from the episode which is epic. The best questions generally start with "What" and the more open they are the better. Thinking Fast and SLow by Daniel Kahneman is a great book around self-coaching. I'm also a HUGE fan of "The Work" by Byron Katie. She wrote a book called "Loving What Is" which will have you in floods of tears but provides a really simple framework on self-coaching. ANd of course if you wanted to have a chat reach out 😀
@@RobinMWaite Thinking Fast and Slow was the last book I bought in the UK (I’m in China at the moment) and I’m about a third of the way through and enjoying a lot! I’ll check out the recommendations, thanks and I’d love to have a chat if possible: what’s the best channel to reach out to you on?
Hello Ali, you are a genius, I love your content so so much. And I want to say that, I would be super excited to meet you someday and be a guest on your podcast. From Ghana, West Africa. Thanks 😇
@@RobinMWaite It's a long story, but in short terms, I left my full time career as a manager to start my own business in hospitality, but part of the ultimate aim was to develop my entrepreneurial aspirations and find ways to break free of the day job and new ways of a sustainable but enjoyable income. Lots of what was discussed really resonates with me and where I want to lead by new life. Especially thinking about how to value my time for what it's worth and not just thinking about an hourly rate. I'm building my own brand, and also do a little web design on the side (plus other consultancy work in my field of expertise from my former manager role). Thinking about what I charge for that work, and how I put a value on it really helps me focus better. Ultimately I'm aiming to build some recurring revenue alongside the active work. I'm at the start of a long path, but I am enjoying the new freedom to explore avenues I just didn't have time for before. (I just now need to find ways to increase my earnings!).
Comprehensive! I liked how Robin tapped into identifying passion and make it business! However, he didn't stop, what I admired is that you addressed the importance of having skills to run the business, operational nitty gritty matters such as SoPs, which I assume that some startup miss and focus on technicalities of the startup only.
Thank you Dina 🙏🏻🙏🏻 that’s a lovely breakdown. And yes I did a study of approx 1,100 business owners through my ScoreCard and 74% graded their “business plan” less than a 5/10 - a majority graded 0/10 because they didn’t even have a business plan and assumed their product/service would sell itself. It goes without saying which percentage had a better chance of lasting at least three years in business!!
Thank you @@RobinMWaite! this a major confirmation from an expert in the field. This emphasis the importance of combining implementation with strategic thinking.
Gosh darn! I'm from South Africa! 🇿🇦 What a blow that the books won't be sent here! But, unfortunately so true! 😢 Thank you for making it available as a pdf download. 😊 Enjoyed the interview very much.
Let me know what you need, I have uploaded a summary of the interview onto my website as well and I can probably get a transcript for you too, just reach out 🙌🏻
Your best episode yet! I’m filling out the scorecard. And I can really see myself working with this guy for sure. I need all the help I can get as a new dad trying to build my passion project into my life project and provide for my family.
That’s so awesome Thomas, thank you so much for your lovely feedback. And how exciting being a new Dad, I remember those days fondly. I was the most productive I’ve ever been in my businesses during the first year after both my girls were born. Pile that energy into your family and projects and you’ll go a long way. Hopefully you’ve found where to download the book and let’s have a chat as well if you’re up for it 🙌🏻🙌🏻
@@RobinMWaite yes. It’s the most incredible time for sure. Many challenges given our circumstances. I’ve already got the PDF and the paperback will be in the post soon. I’d 100% love to have a chat. How do we best arrange that?
Wow!! The things that I am struggling nowadays, in my 42s in Canada, thinking about starting my own business, having lots of passion, not knowing which one is the potential to be the right fit and much more confusing stuff...😬 Thanks so much Ali for sharing thoughtful insights🎉🎉🙏🙏!!
Great advice, I run a service base business for over a decade now in uk, and a lot of the advice on this video is great, I remembered a lot of the things I have forgotten about marketing and I learned some new things too so tumbs 👍 for it and looking forward to seeing more great advice and bidões like this one 😉
Awesome, I'm so pleased you enjoyed the chat with Ali - it's super easy to get caught up in the day-to-day and remember everything that we've learned and you're very much not alone with that
Likewise, I don’t think it barely existed when I started in business in 2003!! So I think future generations are very lucky to have it…but equally we’re very lucky to have it as a platform to spread our message. I’ve always felt simple business knowledge should be freely available to everyone.
This was so helpful with so much insight. I'm trying to get my health and wellness copywriting business off the ground and like Ali said, the fear and imposter syndrome is so real! I feel like i've hit a wall where i dont know where to find the right clients to pitch to
