Thanks for the questions. Yes the original crosses were hollow. These crosses are made with a 6x6 wrapped with A 1x8. If I were to duplicate them I would need to use 8x8s. Big $$$ In order to make the 12ft cross I would need to use a 16ft timber because I’d need to cement it in the ground 4ft. Also it would be extremely top heavy and difficult to stand up and drop it in the hole. These crosses are very light weight. I temporally left the back piece off. All I needed to do is stand it up and nail the back piece on. They were a lot of fun, I’m glad u enjoyed the video. Check out my video on how to make a back lit church cross. It would b very top heavy and difficult to stand it up and set it in the hole. These crosses are very light weight and easy to install. I temporarily left the back piece off.
