Gotta love the fact that console fans don't seem to notice that "next-gen" consoles will keep coming out... I feel that Sony and Microsoft might be ripping you guys off. Also in every time you build a pc its not going to cost you $1000 dollars. The first build is always expensive but the rest become cheap, thats if you're going to build a another pc after all you can always upgrade. PS: PCs have more exclusive, that is a fact.

Anything can beat a PS4 or Xbox One. I've got a 4 year old Walmart Special; that all I did to it was get a video card and a 600W PSU. It runs everything either on High or Ultra while getting around 50-60fps full time, and it's running 5 gigs of RAM and one of AMD's slowest 500 series Dual Core CPU's. I inherited this PC from a buddy that recently built his new rig, and I wasn't ready to upgrade just yet. The total list price was $499.95 back in 2010, it still runs like a charm; plus my VC and PSU, so really the total was in the range of around $699.95

Literally built a gaming PC in 20 minutes for a friend of mine (minus OS install time). It isnt hard at all.

Everybody should build at least one PC once in their life I reckon. I've built loads and the early days getting the correct drivers were a nightmare! They arent that difficult with the right components and can be upgraded. A thing to watch out for is get a biggish case because you have room to screw things in, room to get a screwdriver in , fit graphics cards etc than a crappy little case and you're struggling.

One thing you didn't do before installing the processor was to ground yourself or discharge your static electricity. This is very important before touching processor or memory sticks.

Why does this debate even exist? It's just silly. You can't compare PC's and consoles beyond their specs - there are intangible things that both offer which the other cannot. Consoles are built for the living room, for enjoyment and down time. You can sit on your couch, lie on the floor, whatever - and enjoy yourself. There's the games as well, without consoles where would those gaming series like Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts be. They sure as hell would not feel the same being played on a PC. There's something about spending all those hours with your character, growing with them, bonding with them, and experiencing what they're going through on your giant HDTV in the comfort of your living room that makes these console games so special. The emotions and the journey, it's all a part of these console games. Sure you could argue they could be played on a PC if the developers released a computer version, but would it really be the same? And then there's PC - you sit down, hook yourself up to the internet, get your favourite headphones on and play with that cool backlit gaming keyboard and mouse you've just bought yourself. PC's are much better for those massive online games - LoL, DotA, etc. Obviously you could never play those on a console. Once again these games are unique, in the aspect that you meet other people and you rely on them to not let you, as a team, down. There's also first person shooters - you could argue that the graphics are better on a PC, and I'm not gonna lie, they are. But really it's a matter of preference. Some people just like their consoles, some like the PC's. Are you really going to plug a PC into your 80inch living room Full HDTV and play some games? And are you really going to stick a console on your workbench and hook it up to a 24inch monitor? No, you're not. They're both great at their own game, let's just leave it there.

People forget, gaming PCs are also regular PCs. A console gamer will spend $400 on a console and $400 on a computer/laptop easily. That is already more expensive than a gaming PC which is both in one. Then the computer and console will still be inferior at what they do when compared to the gaming PC and it cost them MORE! I don't understand how console gamers can think getting a console is cheaper than getting a gaming PC. FREE online. Cheaper games, you can pick up Evil Within a NEW game for $6 right now. Backwards compatibility FOREVER. FREE modding of many games. A better community (less kids, more adults), with many community fixes and tweaks (Dark Souls and Watch Dogs are a good example). You can use any controller you like, K&M, Xbox 360, PS3, Xbone, PS4, even a wii remote with working motion controls. SweetFX - injection based graphical enhancement for every game. New gaming technology such as PhysX FleX, Oculus Rift, Real Grass Simulation, MFAA, Voxel-based Global Illumination lighting, DX12 (which is going to supercharge PC gaming meaning cheaper PCs outperforming consoles) and many more which you wont get on console. Emulation of previous consoles and games for free. Thousands (no that is not exaggeration) more exclusives on PC and many are better than any exclusive which are on consoles currently. Cheaper in the long-term and even possibly short-term, for the reasons mentioned. You do NOT have to upgrade every 2 or 3 years, especially not in today's market. Then the usual, better graphics, better FPS, better resolutions etc... PC is pretty much superior in every respect and is cheaper. I don't understand console gamers.

Got a better PC for £400 a few months back. That's $600. FX 6300, 8GB 1866MHz, R9 280. PC prices really do drop fast.

OK but why make a PC with higher specs than consoles and STILL almost 300 bucks more than the console? The reason people dont buy PCs is because it costs more and you are giving a prime example. People would much rather pay 400 for a PS4 and Xbox 1 than 700 for a PC, no matter what the specs. Make a build that is as close to the Consoles as possible and show that the price would be much lower, otherwise its a moot point.

Title is a bit misleading since any PC you build will be better than the PS4 and XBONE.

The strength of a console is the fact that you don't have to worry about this stuff, you can just put in a game and play. I know my fare share of knowledge about PC's so that's what I play on, but again some people just don't want to worry about this and just want to get straight to playing a game.

You can't compare console hardware to PC because console games are specifically made to run on consoles so they are insanely optimized. Beating a console for the same price is still pretty difficult. Plus consoles are still nice to have.

Guys, building a PC isn't as much of a hassle with errors in the hardware or drivers or WHATEVER as people say. If you RESEARCH the build, find a budget, read reviews, weigh out your options, and simply have fun with it, then you will succeed with your build and you will enjoy it. PC has MANY MANY MANY games to play, games always on sale, higher resolutions, an expansive accessory industry, etc, but PC gamers TOTALLY understand why console is more appealing. I've had console my whole life up until a little while back and I can say it now, it's very time consuming. Console is MEANT to simplify it for the masses (that isn't a bad thing) and it's meant to be casual buy and play and it's very fun, but the PC is more... individualized. Building a PC is like buying a car; you research, you fantasize about it (that sounds very weird), you get excited about it, and sometimes you wanna brag about it. After a while, IT'S BORING AS SHIT SOMETIMES. Having a PC over a console is kind of a big decision in how you like to manage your money for entertainment and what your technological interests are. I would gladly play console with my friends and lug it around with me over a PC, but sometimes you just want your own individualized "thing" to call yours. You wouldn't want your friends to have the same car as you :\. Buying a PC is very very time consuming and can get very expensive where like I said, console sticks it's arms out and says "hey, it's easy to buy and install me, I am not a crying, kicking baby that you have to protect from everything that is out there in the world, and I'm just extremely simple!" PC is like a whining, screaming baby you have to give attention to, protect, and funnel lots of $$$ in to. Console is like a pop song. You buy it because it's really popular, catchy, simple, sometimes funny, and you and almost ANYONE can enjoy it (not really but you get the idea). You choose the easy path and things go mostly good and you're comfortable with what you have, or you want to be you and not work in a cubical like everyone else. PC and console. I have both, and I don't think I would choose one or the either because I love being able to play console with my friends and be able to just sit back, pick up a controller and have fun, where other times I just wanna jump onto for example some League of Legends, Dota 2, CS:GO, DayZ, WHATEVER the game is (could be something like BF4) and plug away and get a little salty, then watch some cat videos and not other videos that promise me genital enlargement supplements because I'M THE ONLY ONE THAT DOESN'T DO THAT...o_o Just do what you want and enjoy it, seriously, just do what you can afford and will enjoy the most and I guarantee it's a good choice. I love my Xbox One (I already had an account and I would gladly have gotten PS4 otherwise) and I love my PC. I don't regret either one. I am certainly not loaded, alright? I have no more money to spend that most others, I just save up and make sure I know what I am spending my money on. Gaming is for fun, so do what you want that is fun!

A low budget PC can destroy a PS4 or Xbox One. Consoles have, and always will be junk compared to a PC. They strip away things in games so they CAN run on consoles smoothly.

Most gamers shouldn't care for being the best performance, they care about how they play it. PC will always be better than a Console, Consoles are too limited, for example my last PC build for playing games is an 8 Core FX 8350, 16 Gb Ram, Radeon 7950 Graphics Card, 3 Tb Harddrive, as well as Xbox 360 controller and the graphics clearly destroys Xbox One and PS4. If you're gna spend money anyway, PC is worth the investment, it's just a more powerful machine, research the specs for consoles, PC will always be ahead, peace.

I love building desktops! I built my first one for 550 bucks and it can run any game on very high settings, not maxed but certainly close enough for me to be happy with it :3 Some people seem to think that you cant build a really nice rig on the cheap, but if you just compare prices it doesnt take long to see it. To make it even better building your own rig is easy! The motherboard has designations on it that tell you where everything goes. Plus you can always keep adding to it if it's not as powerful as you want. One thing I noticed on this video was that he didnt put the silver thermal compound on the top of the CPU before he installed the heatsink. Thats the most important part, you cant have your CPU overheating.

OUCH!!! It would cost you 850 big ones to buy all these parts on Newegg not including the OS. But one things for sure with a six core processor and 8 gigs of ram plus room to spare as the motherboard can take up to 32 gigs and the R9 270X that's a beast of card you won't have to worry about buying a new computer for at least a couple years if not more. Well as far as gaming goes.

Why's everyone making these lets beat a console pc. That's not hard to do most people that buy consoles like how small they are compared to pc. Build me a pc that all components fit inside a ps4 case and is cheaper or same price $400. Then after that build one that's cost effective to everyone worldwide on electric. People who want consoles don't want big as crates sitting in their house. I enjoy both pc and console for different reasons. Any gamer who limits themselves to one platform isn't a gamer in my eyes. You're missing it on a lot of good games.

Very fine and correct presentation. From my long experience dating from 386 PCes the best practice is to put your HDD/fdd, optical drive and similar BEFORE you install your MBO since you have more space. But this also depends from the type of case you have.

It became annoying how much the game graphics matter now over the rest. I'm using a PC though I'm not a console hater at all. My main problems appear when someone asks me about the games I likes most. Almost no new game, guys. Although most new releases (talking about AAA here) look incredibly good and "real", they....suck for their bugs (lots of patches), controls, that...character responsiveness blocked by the realism of moving (like in Dragon Age: Inquisition - fuck that btw). No game sucked me in for a long time...I think The Witcher was the last one and Diablo 2 the one before it. Oh, and the cutscenes...the mighty cutscenes that you cannot stop unless you plug the power off... The new way games play is frustrating more than enjoyable, I want to enjoy playing games again, not to see the current tech showoff's, made only to stress some GPU showoff's.

Both PC & Console gaming have their pro's & con's, some may like consoles because of some exclusive games, some may like PC's because of the variety o games on offer, or that they're just cheaper especially on Steam, & of course you have mods, which you can't do on consoles, plus the fact that once you have set up a decent PC to play current games, you won't have to upgrade for at least 10-15 years, whereas the consoles are limited in terms of upgradability. I currently have consoles & PC. I enjoy both gaming platforms & all they have to offer.

Its sad when you have to spend almost twice the cost of a PS4 to best it in graphics. What has PC gaming come to? Its bad enough all the PC exclusives are zombie shooters or indie shit. I regret spending over a grand on my PC over 2 years. With all the money I spent my PC won't even run things any better than a PS4.

Cue lots of console gamers listing reasons to justify why they game on console when no one is asking them or even cares..... Why are console gamers in here justifying why they are happy playing gimped inferior versions of multiplatform games and how PS4 is amazing value despite forgetting to add the costs of online fee's which would bring total costs to £700 spent on PS4 which is piss poor value for money when you can get a PC with a CPU 3x faster and a GPU twice as powerful for the cost of PS4 and 8 years online fees. Not to mention how much more expensive games are on console. Again if you console guys love your console so much and think it's the best source of gaming on the planet why are you so desperate for validation of your choices from people who are utterly apathetic towards consoles?.

When games are developed and compiled for consoles, the compilers are configured to leverage the modern instruction capabilities of the CPU and platform. In the case of modern consoles, that's a HSA/hUMA environment with a pair of cat-core quads roped together with a GCN architecture GPU. Since the game is compiled specifically for that one piece of hardware, they can include all sorts of scheduling and instruction optimizations to make the best use of the available performance, even though the compute performance of the console is relatively low compared to a desktop CPU, the way the program leverages the available execution performance is much better on the console. The hUMA environment also allows for effective offloading of common compute instructions to the GPU in cases where the data sets are large enough to benefit. Even though the consoles share many things in common with desktop parts, there are still some key differences that have not been leveraged for PC's at this time. (FM2+ has these capabilities, but nobody is compiling their game binaries specifically for this platform yet). When games are developed, or ported for computers, the compilers are configured for maximum compatibility with a broad range of CPUs going back at least 5-7 years. This prevents PC games from leveraging the available compute performance of modern CPUs effectively. Also, any scheduling optimizations done for the fixed console hardware have to be stripped. Job scheduling winds up primarily handled by the host kernel. Combine that with the loss of hUMA/HSA platform advantages, and the compute overhead required on any single thread of the game engine can be 2-4X higher for the PC version of a game (compared to a console) to run well. It's also important to note at this junction, that the dual-quad CPU configuration in these consoles does not have very good parallel performance scaling. Even though it has 8 cores, the parallel performance scaling isn't comparable to a desktop part. The result of this is that, the best way to build a PC to "replace" a console, is not to configure it with hardware that sort-of resembles the console. Using brute force to overcome the lack of compiler optimizations is a much better approach. Thus, an i5 makes a better console replacement CPU than an FX chip. Intuition thwarted.
