Really sorry about the re-adding of this video. The previous version had somethings we needed to change but we accidentally uploaded the WRONG version. Sorry!!!
Riftgardian ok, but if your confident the fps will be 60fps minimum, things should be no different? i was worried there would be some latency issues with precision x
Hey guys, I'm not trying to promote my channel in any way here you don't have to subscribe or anything. I looked at the 550 dollar build in this video and my jaw literally dropped lol. My 500 dollar build is A LOT better than this 550 dollar build. I give you an actual GPU. As to why they put an APU in a 550 dollar build is beyond me. Also, if this is competing with consoles, WHY put a 1TB drive in there? Save like 20 bucks and do something else with it. Use a 500GB drive. If you want more space for games or something, buy an SSD later or another HDD later. I simply don't understand why'd they use these specific parts. They also put in a 500w PSU, WHY DO YOU NEED 500 WATTS TO POWER AN APU!? LOL
***** For a "VS console" build, which should ALWAYS be under 500 dollars (maybe 600) It's always good to compete with the consoles specs and then add in better parts. Some people only need 500GB right off the bat. It's a GAMING PC, not an editing, or like every day use PC (of course they probably will browse the internet and stuff) but most of the things they'll be downloading is games. They want more space, buy another Storage drive, or an external drive. Then move the games onto those. Done.
Casey Rodriguez Why would you need crossfire? One single powerful GPU is enough for a 500 dollar build. An SSD is optional for a 500 dollar build. The parts you picked that you somehow put together in a 400 dollar build are probably shit then.
Here is a PC that will ruin any console... FX 6300 = $130 8GB ram = $50 500-1tb HDD = $80 Case = $30-100 MOBO = $60 500w PSU = $50 GTX 760/R9 270x = $230 PC parts to vary on brand and fluxiates alot. But you can build a beast PC for about $650-$800 (Not including Shipping or Taxes). Also you customize your PC to your needs. Also with a 1TB HDD you can hold a lot of porn!
Arby PC has many more exclusives then both consoles combined, now saying exclusives is better on a curtain platfourm is completly opinionated but there are more exclusives on the PC and I personally like them better then the X1 or PS4 exclusives.
CALEB DELONG It is more powerful then a PS4 or X1, It could run GTA 4 just fine with a few mods and ENBS with well over 30 FPS, but GTA 4 is very un optimized
- I have just recently almost totally upgraded my PC and I could have got a few quid / bucks by selling the old parts on e-bay or whatever - good stuff like ASUS Z87-A MB, GTX660Ti , 650 bronze PSU beQuiet Dark Rock2, cooler, etc. Instead I gave it to one of my best friends 14 year old kids who dreams of owning his first gaming PC . He totally died when he saw what I had for him. HE can now buy a decent CPU, SSD, and some nice memory and have a shit-kicking PC for less than the price of a console.. Starting from scratch when your reliant on your parents buying you everything is why consoles are so popular, SO pass down your old parts and help a PC noob on their way.
That is a terrible build. Here is one for less that will destroy that build. CPU: AMD FX-6300 GPU: Asus R9 270x Direct CUII Ram: 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz (Choose your favorite brand) Power Supply: Corsair CX500M Case: Corsair 200r CPU Fan: Hyper 212 EVO Disk Drive: LITE-ON DVD Burner Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB Motherboard: Asus M5A97 R2.0 Trust me, I know my PC hardware, I am rocking that exact build right now. If you want game FPS just reply to this comment. Up-vote if you found this helpful.
I built a similar PC for my brother but with the 760 but different motherboard, psu and storage. It handles all the games. That CPU is really good for the price.
All you need to do to beat the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 is to slab on a FX 8350 4.0 GHz and a AMD Raedon HD 7850 2Gb and it has a 1,280 Stream Processor.. FYI you can't compare the Xbox and PlayStation with a Computer because the Desktop will always win with a Iron Fist...
I know this is an old post, but id probably have to disagree, you will be most likely matching performance with those specs, youd need a 7950 and above to see a noticeable difference. Key word "noticeable". Building something that matches a ps4 isnt beating a ps4 :p The specs youve shown are only superior in cpu performance, which wont directly affect gaming, so to destroy a ps4 in graphics and see at-least 10%+ real world difference a 7950+ is the way to go in my opinion :)
lewismarsh10 why not? they are architecturally similar, more so than ever before with apu's. Both have harddrives, a motherboard & ram. OS is different.
mr. iron fist seem to be forgetting about the main thing here the price .. give me the exact processing power and graphical quality in a pc on 400$ range .. i am only talking about .. the ps4 not the xbox .. :) then we will debate
Sushmit Dey ok i live in australia and a ps4 costs $500AUD ($400USD) xbox costs $600 ($500 us) our budget will be in the middle $450 us and $550 aud processor: amd fx 6300 = $85 ram: 6gb crucial ram = $65 keyboard and mouse: logitech keyboard mouse bundle = $25 psu: vs 550 watt 85% efficient = $45 gpu: r7 260x = $109 wifi: edimax nano usb adapter = $5 headphones and mic = $25 (i dont remember the brand) screen acer al1816w 1440x900 monitor: $60 operating system: windows 8.1 $12 (you can get windows for cheap on some websites but if you cant find windows linux, steam os or torrents is a option final cost: $419 USD without os not much more than a console but you can do much more with it $431 USD with os and remember its a computer so it has much more functionality than a ps4 or a xbox and you CAN upgrade it over the years if you ARENT satisfied with the performance in 2-5 years it ISNT neccesary to upgrade this computer for the next 2-5 years you will be playing games at med - ultra at least 30fps
I enjoyed this video. GJ PCPER. I would like to mention that, If you are looking to get a new rig going, be sure to evaluate what you already own. I kept my 500 Gb HD my old case , fair ram (4gb 1333 I know this should be upgraded) and since I owned windows 7 64 bit, I saved a bit and was able to get a lot more for my money.
***** Actually PC games are experiencing great profits and steam itself is growing in membership. But the Sales figures don't matter so much to me, I love gaming on PC due to the openness of the platform. A gaming PC is truly an owner friendly platform. techreport.com/news/25136/ea-financials-show-growing-pc-game-revenue
yeah caseygtr is right, plus you dont have to have steam to be a gamer for pc. PC is always upgradable in the future while console is not. I always feel more comfortable digging thru a pc than trying to rip thru a console trying to fix it. But consoles are always fun to get on a play with friends thats y i dont understand y people fight over this.
What people also need to consider is , even though the prices of XBOX and PS4 are lower up front , each and every game for PS4 and Xbox 1 costs quite a lot and can add up to a huge amount. Either way if you only have 400 $ please stay away from building a NEW PC.Do it If you only want to upgrade Ram, mobo , CPU , GPU ..
really i made a pc with a 260x and a fx 6400 4gb of ram and it runs games decently but the 4gb of ram is a huge bottleneck because in some next gen games when i turn the settings to ultra im using almost all of my ram and i see lots of studders
InTheCircle Actually you CAN build a decent gaming computer for around 350-400 dollars new. A 750TI or 760 will play any game out there at high and sometimes max settings @ 1080p. Throw in 8gb of ram and a first gen I5 or a decent FX chip for around 50 bucks. high @ 1080p Is already better than ps4 or xbox 1. Let alone actually getting 60fps on it lol. I agreee there is no point building an entirely new system if you own a half decent 4 core PC already. Shoot really as long as your mobo supports a 4core you can buy one as an upgrade and then just throw in a graphics card. You can get away with 4gb of ram as well in 90% of the games at max settings. only a very few need more. Edit... Sorry InTheCircle. This was meant to reply to Cherry "Strawberry" Cream.
Im getting a pc tomorrow except a console after a lot of thinking the specs are as follows Core i5 4440 3.3 ghz turbo Msi R9 280 3gb gaming Kingston hyperx fury 8gb ram WD 1tb HDD blue 7200 rpm Corsair 200R case Corsair 550w PSU (i know its a lil overkill but still) MSI b85m motherboard
Multi407D Nah 550 IS overkill. I've run plenty of stress tests on 280x (not just plain 280) with a 450. Its just underkill if you have 3 HDDS 2 disk drives and all 4 slots of RAM taken up lol
So I know this video is a few months old now, but... here's what I got pricing out an Intel build for roughly the same price bracket. i3-4150 Haswell 3.5GHz Socket 1150 CPU EVGA nVidia 750 Ti 2GB GPU Gigabyte GA-B85-HD3 LGA 1150 Motherboard Kingston HyperX 8GB(2x4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory Seagate 1TB 7200rpm 64mb cache Hard Drive Antec MicroATX Case w/ built in 350W 80+ bronze single 12V Rail PSU Total build cost of above components is around $500. At first I was worried about power requirements, but this rig would be drawing around 200 watts at full load. The video card doesn't even require a PCI-E Connector.
+john Iong the whole point of owning a console ist that everyone have the SAME hardware... (yea maybe diffrent tv or some ppl use gaming headset's) I have a pc (3-4 year's old midrange build) and can run bf4 @ 1080 / 60fps medium settings... yeah i could upgrade but for a "not everyday have time for gaming" person there is no need for burning money every two years upgrading your gaming rig. So i get beasted by ultra gamer rigs whit gaming monitors @ 140 fps probably full gaming keybords and gaming mouses. I not even mention the situation around hacks, bots and stuff on pc :) prefere the "more fair" gaming experience on a console, which is more on skill than on harware based. I hope u get the point bro
The fight between Xbox fans, PS4 fans and PC fans reminds me of the scene in Anchorman where all News anchors come to fight on the battle ground over who are better
I can hardly believe that their $500 PC built to compete with the new next gen consoles has an APU. Where the heck is the dedicated GPU!? It is being built for gaming after all!
Good video fellas. I Just built a computer for right around for $758 from newegg that I believe destroys the $700 build in the video except for the fact I had an old case lying around as well as a copy of windows 7. So i didnt factor in those prices. FX 8350 8 core processor $170 Gigabyte GA-970-D3P $65 Gigabyte 4GB Windforce Nvidia Geforce GTX770 $390 8GB G.Skil ARES @1866MHz$53 Thermaltake 750W PSU $80 Its no surprise that all my favorite games (BF4, Far Cry 3, Sim City, Left for Dead 2) with the help of the FX 8350 with the GTX770 are running maxed out at 1080p on my 52 inch tv at solid 60+ frames per second. Its been a phenomenal build. So my question is, why are we settling for a fx6xxx with a R270 in the vid?
The whole thing it's not about gaming performance or graphics, it's about game titles. I prefer console because the titles that i like are there. I have a much better experience playing Chrono Trigger on the old SNES than COD or any modern shooter on a hi-end PC.
hey can someone plaese awnser this question for me please i wanna build the socond pc that is 790$ but im wondering if instead of the original grahpics card youll be using ( the amd radeon r9 27) if i can replace it with the AMD Radeon R9 280x? will it fit with all these components
the 780$ has an hdmi output, correct? is this a dumb question? I'm trying to plan things out i want to get into pc gaming, or at least properly into it (im on a standard laptop lol)
hows this? msi z87 gd65 mobo intel i7 4770k g skill sniper seriers 16 g ddr3 2400 mhz msi gtx760 2 g ddr5 256 bit in SLI samsung 84o EVO 256 g ssd 2 terabyte western digital thermal take level 10 gt case is that better than console?
I think your selection of pc components are a little extreme for the price you guys are aiming for. 500w power supply for the first system is REDICULUS. You guys test new gpu's that at load pull less than 500 watts. There are plenty of ITX cases that come with 250W supplies that could more than enough handle that APU system.
FX-6300 GTX 750 Ti Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 Kingston HyperX Blu 4gb (your choice, I don't play newer games though) HDD preference Corsair Builder 430W NZXT Gamma Classic Series Case Not suitable for overclocking but this would save you a lot of money (high electric bill? this ain't a problem). This should run my favorite games like Dark Souls, Killing Floor, Path of Exile without breaking a sweat.
$400 dollars can go a LONG way in the gaming PC world. That'd buy a GTX 970 and another stick of RAM, if the rest of your system is good to go. Or a GTX 960 and a refurbished i5 tower with DDR3 if your whole setup is too dated. Both of these options would kick the shit out of either console, while letting you use a mouse for aiming(something that's ALWAYS fun to rub in console gamers faces)!!! Doing it this way, not paying for PSN or LIVE membership, your PC upgrades will literally pay themselves off within a year or two. Consoles just aren't in ANY way competitive for the people who already own desktops, even outdated or low-budget ones. Plus, you then get the additional benefit of your pc tasks being MUCH faster and more enjoyable.
im sorry to tell u this but 400$ cant get u much. You guys are blinded by that. Consoles will compete with a 400$ pc. Remember most new pc people need to buy the monitor and the keyboard n mouse. You really need 700$ to see the benefits of pc gaming. Now if you are already a pc gamer then ya 400$ can get u a crazy good graphics card but to get into pc gaming it will cost u
If you're going to include the monitor in the cost of the PC, why not include the TV in the price of the console? It's true that most households already have a TV, so you wouldn't need one specifically for your console, but the same can be said about the entire PC, most people already have a PC that needs very minor upgrades(if it's a desktop) to pull double duty as a gaming rig.
Also, $400 is plenty for a gaming PC that will far outdo any console frame for frame at identical settings. Dont forget how much more you get with a PC too, for $100, you can add another monitor, run emulators for about a billion older console games, use a MOUSE, upgrade your existing rig for about 1/2 the price of a console to keep it modern throughout 3 or 4 console generations, the list just keeeeps on going
mrhackster99 Of course, but console players also pay a fee to use their own internet. Xbox live is like $25 for a 3 month card. thats a 100 dollars a year just to play online. Times that buy the 9 years lifetime of the console thats $900 dollars on top of the 4 or $500 you might have paid for it new. LMAO so thats $1400 invested into a console which is now obsolete.
What you have to realise is that even though the console is set at $500 for the xbox $400 for PS4 you also have the online subscription and seeing that the last gen console has been around for at least 8 years thats alot of money tied into subscriptions so therefore you have another $500 dollars on top of that for your PC build. And then there are games too, a Xbox one/PS4 will cost you around a average $60 where as on PC games are designed there first and will be cheaper. So in total your looking around $1,500 on a gaming computer, that will definitely last you more than 8 years gaming plus will wipe the graphics on these next gen consoles. Its all about the extras that companies get more of there money out of you NOT the console itself.
Great video guys. I am planning to build a pc in the next weeks and I was going to go with your 2nd build: FX 6300 + R9270X. Seems to be the best bang for your buck choice right now. One thing worries me though. Do you think this build will keep up with games in 1080p for 3.5 - 4 years? turning some settings down on the last year? 2 gigs of VRAM don't seem enough. 7950 would be a better choice. I would then get a $700 Skymont build with Volta GPU and obliterate consoles once again. Probably 4K gaming will be the norm by then. My second course of action was to get a better Haswell build and add a Maxwell GPU (something like GTX 870) but that would cost north of 1K USD. My point is. Is it really worth it to build a high end rig right now that we are in the beggining of the Generation right now? Your rig won't last 5 or 6 years. Thing about someone with a 8800GTX in 2006. That card was a beast but that guy could not play Crysis 3 due to Directx incompatibility. While someone with A10 5800k could play.
I know this is an older video so I'm not responding to it. Windows 10 is gonna be free for a year when it comes out, you can really drop the price from that if it all goes correctly. And Windows 10 is Windows 7 on steroids.
I remember in the 80's and 90's PC were waaaaayyyyy ahead of consoles like Mega Drive, Master System, Amiga even better than PC, Most of PC games were just for PC's because consoles couldn't handle the graphics and sound, it was uncomparable, but now consoles are turning the table, consoles are getting closer and closer and for a cheaper price.
The PS1 was actually ahead of PC for a bit, there graphics quality in their games were unmatched. Especially considering the price of the ps1 and the price for a proper gaming PC at that time.
Carbon Bonds I meant back in the days, like 1990s. But now that i think about it, PC was still ahead back then too. Star wars episode 1 is a good example, looks crap on ps1, looks clearer on pc, despite the low textures :p
donkey1450 ok i see. imo, consoles back then were superior to consoles now. console back then were actually dedicated GAME consoles, not multimedia boxes
Carbon Bonds Oh definitely agree. They would have more efficient operating systems as well, so it would use less resources due to less background processes to run unnecessary apps. They could also potentially shift their budget into better hardware instead of paying engineers and market analysts to come up with new ideas. I guess in a way, its one of the reasons why ps4 performs better than xbox one in the gaming department.
You could run a game much faster on Linux if people had the brains to support it more than Windows >_> Linux is lightweight and uses low RAM, and CPU usage and delivering nice visuals and results
Love the 760 card! One of my favorite cards before upgrading to my 780. In my opinion the 760 and below are great cards for people to start getting into PC gaming, not to mention dual sli, I used to run two 760's and now I run two 780's a pretty noticeable difference in performance but still. A single 760 card is plenty of power for a lot of today's hottest games!
There's to pairs of ram that i've been looking at, the G Skill Ripjaws X and the Team Zeus, both pair are 8gb (2x4gb) DDR3 1600 CL-9 color red. the only think that got me undecided is the deference of the Read and Write Transfer speed, the G Skill is 14.3 GB/s Read Uncached Transfer Speed and 9.5GB/s Write Transfer Speed, while the Team Zeus ram is 16.6 Read Uncached Transfer Speed and 10.1GB/s Write Transfer Speed. The price are the same.. i would really like to know if the deference on these numbers makes that much of a deference and wish one would you recommend.. thank you and hope to here from you soon or anyone who would like to help.
You said the GPU peak throughput for both is measured in gigaflops... its actually teraflops. sonys on Sony's site and anywhere else for the Xbone all say teraflops
Well, i've played all systems... I'll start with my input from Xbox to ps4 to pC Xbox is less ram power than that of PS4 and the resolution is not so great with all its games with reduced frame rate due not efficient power. ( overall not worth buying for the price, its more of a TV box than a system.) PS4 more powerful with better resolution size with great framerate and power with GDDR5 Ram that gives what they promise for games potential. ( Was cheaper than Xbox one when released and lives up to the promise for a great product. PC is what your money allows you to make it, it can be insanely good if you can afford it, but if your poor you can only dream... (PC can do whatever you want it to do if you got enough money, consoles can't compare...)
+Kerlan Daisley The ps4 and the xbone are almost identical and GDDR5 ram really does not matter at all and gives you very little advantage when it comes to gaming. Theres very little games that utilizes the full power of a GDDR4. Also theres plenty of builds that will get you more power then a ps4 for around 380(not including os cost).
going for a sub 650w PSU would limit future gpu upgrade choices so I dont recommend it. The CX600M for instance supplies 38A while the 780ti requires a MINIMUM 42A. 600W PSU's with enough amps probably exist but why would anyone bother messing around on such a fundamental part? BAD ADVICE IS BAD Would this build work? Casecom KM £22 (nice CHEAPO case) OCZ ZS Series 650W 80+ Bronze PSU £60 (not sure about OCZ for PSU's) Corsair 4GB DDR3 1600Mhz Vengeance Memory £35 Seagate 1TB Desktop SSHD £70 FX-6300 £85 Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 Socket AM3+ VGA DVI HDMI 7.1 Channel Audio mATX Motherboard £40 R9 290 £200 (ebay) (BLAM!)
***** Agreed 500w is more than enough for most people, JayzTwoCents shows you this test in his video "How big of a power supply do you REALLY need" id advise watching it you will be surprised how much power your system actually uses and why a bigger power supply is wasted money..and power
Assuming you'll never want SLI/CF and asssuming an affordable graphics card requiring more wattage wont exist in the power supply's lifetime then it would be OK
Pc is cheaper if you buy all your stuff on sale. I saw a 7850 2gig msi 109 dollars. Corsair 500 watt 35 dollars. 2133mhz gskill 2x4gig 65 dollars. Fx 6300 105 dollars. Corsair 200r 29 dollars. Consoles arent bad. You get a 60 bucks controller and a 50 buck blueray. Just get the same one as your friends. But you can do a lot more things on a pc and playing online is free. If your on a budged go with a pc and build it yourself and before buying the stuff go to a forum (tek syndicate is my favorite) and ask if your build is ok. Safe 600 dollars, best performance for you your money price. Have fun and play games on better settings than a console, and you dont need to buy a other pc for school.
My rig is an AMD FX-8320 chip with 8 gigs DDR3 1866 memory and an old GTX650Ti on an ASRock 990FX Extreme3 mobo. That's a so-so system even back then. And it runs WAY better than my brothers PS4 on the same titles with side by side comparison. I can even make a ramdisk that loads games so much faster. And items don't pop into view like they do on the console. Like grass and tree's in Skyrim for example. Higher settings, higher resolution, better frames, the works. Was way cheaper to build than $500 even back then. Use Linux ffs and save money. You also get better processing power. Linux still has a far better selection of games than PS4 from Steam alone. And blueray? Really? Are people still using disks? Haven't we all merged to online streaming like Vudo? Hell I can even upload my old DVD's to my library on there and get HD versions back to me in a stream. And for a monitor, use your TV. It should have an HDMI. That's what you would do with your PS4. If not, there are cheap adapters.
How would this do vs. a console. (jk) but no really I want your opinion. Well I sold my Xbox one and I'll build a pc, fx 6300, 8 gb ram, r9 270x. And I was really worried thinking if that build would run future games.. but I'll tell you something... xbox one's games are at 720 and 900p, and it still looks awesome, I play fifa and street fighter 4 in my laptop at 800x600, and I really enjoy it.. so it's ok for me to play a couple of years 1080 and then 720.... o.o games are cheaper, mods are awesome and online cost just your internet...
it was amazing, one of the best gaming experience evr haha, i had windows 7 on my hdd and windows 10 is free so i is ok, game run awesome they are cheaper, they look better, im happy with it :D
Should have included the cost of a few games and xbox live. Then picked the 770 gtx, it comes with 3 games and free online play. It adds $100 to the price of your system but it adds $220-$240 to a console. You need to add in the price of a mouse and keyboard to be fair. Ryan I would like to help with stuff like this on the podcast.
Ok so buying all of the hardware needed for this "flagship" computer on Amazon I got a grand total of 980 bucks. That is not even counting tax and shipping. Not sure how you guys got 7hundred something. In my opinion the PS4 & the XBOX One are great choices for some one that is on a budget. Now if you can deal with spending 2500 bucks or more and want a truly great machine that can do it all well then PC is the way to go. For most people I do not think that applies.
This is wrong. They could easily have shaved a lot off of this and got a FX-8350 and a R7 260X and smashed the consoles. I have a A10-5800K based rig that's running BF3 on medium settings at 35-40 fps and is very playable and have less than 450.00 invested including a 23 inch monitor.
I didn't claim that I was smashing consoles but considering all the other things I can do with it I came out way ahead. For anyone that will take the time to learn how to build their own pc you can easily outperform the consoles.
Colin Odom haha, you are adorably funny. "learn how to build a pc" im reading this (As a builder and designer of super high end custom PCs) you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.. seriously, none at all. you are embarrassing your self here
That APU doesn't come close to ether Ps4 or Xbox one. Also like yall said memory speed makes a difference on APU's.If it wasn't for that Esram in the Xbox one that console would be running much worse then it already is.These consoles, more so the Ps4 have fewer bottlenecks then what the Pc has, these consoles have dedicated video/sound chips which helps out on system resources.
I own a PC with an I7 Sandy , 16gb of 1600mhz DDR3 and GTX690 which is around 3.6x more powerful than PS4's GPU. My CPU is close to 4x more powerful If I were to build a PC on a budget that is a lot faster than the new consoles I would buy this CPU www.amazon.co.uk/AMD-FX8320-Edition-4-0GHz-Socket/dp/B009O7YU56/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1391005135&sr=8-2&keywords=8+core+processor This is an 8 core desktop CPU which is leagues ahead of the 8 tablet/netbook Jaguar cores in the consoles and it only costs £108 The GPU I picked is slightly over twice the performance of PS4 with over double the stream processors and 4.2 TeraFlops of shader compute against 1.84 TeraFlop PS4 GPU www.amazon.co.uk/Sapphire-Dual-X-Radeon-GDDR5-Graphics/dp/B00FL8H57W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1391005299&sr=8-1&keywords=amd+280x This GPU also has higher bandwidth GDDR5 www.amazon.co.uk/M5A97-R2-0-Motherboard-PCI-Express-Flashback/dp/B008RPYB0U/ref=pd_bxgy_computers_text_y The motherboard is £63 The power supply www.amazon.co.uk/HEC-Compucase-G7-Modular-Extreme/dp/B008N9FEFQ/ref=sr_1_18?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1391005465&sr=1-18&keywords=psu+750w Now this PC is over TWICE the performance of PS4 and it does cost more than console but try to remember that online gaming is FREE on Steam despite having all the same social features as consoles like friends lists, achievements, Skype messaging as well as features consoles cannot offer like Steam Workshop free mods downloads/ Try to remember that online gaming will add another £300 to the cost of either console over the space of the generation Also PC is an open platform so developers do not need to buy an expensive license fee from Sony or Microsoft before they are allowed to make a game for PC. This ensures that PC games ALWAYS cost less than console. Right now the difference in price of games is anything between £10 to £20 and usually closer to £20 cheaper. The money you save from no online fee's and cheaper games will pay for your more expensive day one hardware costs and even a GPU upgrade years down the line when say Direcxt12 GPU's launch with exclusive DX12 graphics that won't be seen on consoles until PS5 and XB2 Then there is the Steam Sales that are so cheap that you can about the same amount of games as PSN+ would let you rent for one year for roughly the same amount of money, only difference is that you would have chosen them by yourself and own them for life. Also you can hook your PC up to your TV , whether HD or 3D . Who would rather have Kinect than Oculus Rift virtual Reality headset that will only cost £200 or $200?? So yeah that PC above is over twice as powerful as PS4 but does cost a little more but the money saved from cheaper games and no online fee's would soon make up the price difference and years down the line you would have saved enough for a new GPU upgrade
Tyler Ford Yes I can mate. If you want to keep prices closer to $700 you could buy the 8 core desktop AMD CPU that is around 3x more powerful than the Jaguar CPU's used in consoles for This CPU is great value for money. It has weaker per core performance than the Intel I7's but is still able to run games great and this should improve as more and more games go multicore as the new consoles have 8 weak sauce cores so developers need to go multicore for performance www.amazon.com/AMD-FD8350FRHKBOX-FX-8350-FX-Series-Edition/dp/B009O7YUF6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1397843120&sr=8-1&keywords=8+core+processor If you want to keep prices close to $700 then this is the GPU I would use mate www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-GTX780-SuperClocked-03G-P4-2784-KR/dp/B00CUIVSNS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1397843324&sr=8-1&keywords=gtx780 Some people prefer AMD but I prefer NVIDIA. I like their drivers that optimise the performance of games. I like NVIDIA exclusives like Shadow Play , PhysX, adaptive V-Sync and I particularly like 3D Vision which will be a massive benefit to Oculus Rift gamers... 8gb of RAM is more than enough for gaming at this time. www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-Desktop-Memory-CMZ8GX3M1A1600C10/dp/B005T63BJM/ref=sr_1_9?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1397843578&sr=1-9&keywords=RAM These are the three main components of your PC. If you are still interested give me a shout and we can pick or change things. We can also pick power supply unit (PSU) and tower. I decided to try PC gaming 4 years ago and it's the best thing I have done as a gamer. You may spend more money on day one when buying a PC but you soon start saving money. There is no online fees for a start which will add an extra $400 to either console by the end of the gen/
I would rather have a high quality gaming pc, but I don't wanna worry about how well my pc would run newer games, how much I would have to pay for it, and worry about upgrading. So for now I will get a PS4. :'(
you should not add a case , power suppy, fan into the cost because they are all reuseable, from you old pc,not so with connsole, so you could buy better hardware
is there anyone who knows an basic abc walk through of what the fuck do all of those numbers and terms mean? jeez. newbies such as myself need a freaking coloring book type of introduction to pc building
You forgot the software, like Windows 8, spyware, antivirus, malware and so many other that you need to have to protect you pc. That's like $1100 just to look like 9% better then the ps4.
Consoles are useful, simple, or at least should be. Just put in the game and play. Sadly as we have seen with some games [looking at you AC: Unity] that isn't true anymore. Hell even the xbox 360 and PS3 era had one big bane "patches" "log in to our website first please" "checking for new dlc" In some games it took 2 minutes from starting it and actually being able to load your game. Yeah 2 minutes seriously... Still, in ways it works.. And yet I bought a new pc instead. For that same money I might buy a PS4 or xbox one with a bunch of games but. Steam is cheap very cheap.. and guess what it is nice to finally being able to play those again.
What about the games prices for console..? the pc games are lot cheaper and you can buy games online at stores like steam and save the cost of Bluray drive.
I'm buying one soon myself, total cost is $543 after shipping. And that's with a quad core AMD 3.5ghz cpu, an over-clocked dual fan AMD R7 260x GPU card, 8GBs of ram, 1TB hard drive, a case, 500W power supply and 5 cooling fans. It will easily outperform the PS4 and Xbone.
Console have a "soul" that just makes owning one more fulfilling than building the most powerful gaming PC. Buy and forget! Enjoy games... exclusives bla bla bla. Funny thing is, a console is a PC.
Idiot! Of course I know a PC is more powerful. You think in the 90s I was playing Mario, Contra, street fighter, resident evil etc on a freaking PC? Understand my comment, console have a history and that's why millions buy them every time they're released. FPS ruined? WTF u on about? It's not all about hardware power fool.
You said it perfectly, you were the one in diapers because you seem to be oblivious to the fact that consoles have a deeper gaming history than PCs. Yes you can built one but the it's diminishing returns. Grow up? Really? Are you serious? Idiot.
Ok batman, spoken like true lunatic. Read my comment again, and if you're as smart as you think you are then it makes sense. You can replace "the", "build"... You won't get it anyway dumb kid. Please don't repeat what your mommy said on here, Ok batman?
Your system prices exclude the cost of the operating system and labour/time. Have yet to see anyone point me to a pre built off the shelf PC that compares to a console in both stats and price.
John Oliver Another thing worth noting is the freedom to upgrade with a PC. Right this minute, the consoles will beat the same priced PC as far as game performance goes, next year... not so much.
I used to run a 500 series card for like 6+ years haha, then I upgraded to the 780 a few weeks ago. WOW what a difference but I don't mind the older cards they still pack quite a punch and there still very affordable for newer PC gamers getting into PC gaming!
I'm sure a mid to high end PC gaming machine does look amazing but the ps4 is the best gaming machine out there for The money, and it will only get Cheaper. Steam has promise but They will mess it up with all the different hardware specs.i'm Not saying PC gaming is crap, just Saying the ps4 is much better value.
These guys don't look at all the parts.. Get an athlon x4 750k, 8 gigs of corsair vengeance, rose will ranger m case, r9 290x OR gtx 660, a corsair cx430, same hard drive and optical drove as video, and boom, cheaper and fast build... 758$? That's way more than a console, look up Austin Evans 400/500/600$ build... These guys have no idea
Xbox One $500 + Xbox Live $60 x 8 years = $980 overall. Given a new console doesn't come out for at least another 8 years. Gaming PC $500 + Steam $Free = extra $480 to upgrade your PC over the next 8 years etc.... The new consoles are over priced and will be outdated in at least 5 years. There's more Pros to PC gaming these days look into it. Forget the new consoles and get more for your money.
i think a better question would be, do you like pc's? no? get an XBOX. you dont need to be a pc guy to play video games. jsut get a fucking xbox seriously. computers are more expensive because they are COMPUTERS
Well of course they are more expensive. They can do alot more then a Xbox or any console and I can still play my games from 20 years ago if I like. I am not limited to just the games on that console. Also games are cheaper on a PC and in the long run you save money on a PC. A 1000 dollar PC will beat a console in any game. But that is 600 dollars more then a console right? Well if you have a console that is 400-500 dollars out of your pocket. Then you probably have a PC/Mac that coast about 300-800 alone ($1000+ if you have a mac) and in the long run you save money because games are cheaper and you can do much more. PC's can do anything a console can do but better, more and sexier ;D
yes the both consoles give you a very good price for performance compared to pc, but you have to remember that for the next 7 years you need to pay to play online so that will add up, and if you know what your doing on steam you can get a bunch of games on sale and for a great price. i know xbox live is $10 a mouth so for the next 5 years that would equal $840 if you buy it mouth by mouth. so i could build a system for a round $1240 to $1340 that would cost the same as the console for its life time. for that much you could build a killer system ;D. yes the $500 Xbox looks great but you need to look at how much it will cost over its life time.
Just get a console and a gaming PC. Let the die hard PC and console fans stick to their guns. I think its better to have both and not be so narrow minded.
Guys look,I never give my money on the China or Japan for their products! This is a personal opinion! I would have given money for a product that is manufactured in USA not in China or Japan. China and Japan made products, who spoil after warranty. They flooded the market with junk.... And I not want to tell me who is better,I know who is better for me !
yeah 99.9999% of anything with a micro chip or PCB is made in china or japan. the labor is dirt cheap and the mines for the materials are there. some companies just ship the parts here so they can say "assembled in the usa"
the price is totally wrong there, it applies to those who have no PC whatsoever at home :)) I mean who doesn't have a computer these days? You don't have to buy Windows, because I suppose if you use your PC you already have it. You don't have to buy Blue Ray Reader for the PC, that is totally optional on pc's since most games we're downloading from servers. You don't have to buy a new tower unless you can't possibly fit the new parts in your old one. So that is cutting down the total price to 206$ less. and if your PSU can handle the load (in most cases there's no point upgrading that unless it's really bad) that's another 69$ less. Totaling about 275 $ lower price from what you were talking about there
Westin Mcclister You can buy blue ray drive for the PC at your first store. Also you can buy external portable drives if you would like to watch your blue ray movies anywhere. So there's not much difference there. They cost like 50 euro. I truly recommend the LG CP40NG10 It's fast, portable, slim, and does not need any additional power cable. It works on USB2. Costs like 50 Euros. And you can use that on your laptop, pc, notebook, whatever has a USB port.
and an hdd and another possibilty but kind of a strech before buying anew mobo know its socket u could have an lga 1150 socket with an old i3 poping it out for a k series i5 will be consideration

The consoles can keep up win the PC's for a very short time in a year the consoles will be completely surpassed by the crazy PC's that get upgraded let alone it'll be another seven years till the next console launch so PC wins
compare to pc the PS4 gpu is 7850 or and xbox one 7790, but for the price PS4 is very good, i mean think sony isnt gonna put GTX 780 with i7 4770 with 16GB RAM on a console its too much money.
While it's true that consoles are a great deal as far as the amount of hardware you get for the money they are good for games only and don't let you do anything else worth a crap.
I didn't say you couldn't do anything else. I said you couldn't do anything else worth a crap. IMHO the Windows and Linux operating environments blow the consoles away at everything else but gaming. There are also many things that a console simply can't do. Gaming is good on PC if you spend the money. I'm not a console basher. I have one. I just prefer PC for the things it does better which includes quite a few games.
Because with micro ATX cases they don't always have a lot of space for upgrades or dual sli in the future I'd go with a mid tower, enough space and still very upgradable
Intel does NOT produce any CPU with "two quad cores meaning 8 cores" : they use Hyperthreading with 4 cores, allowing for 8 threads (pipelines). Also, having the possibility of more than 4 threads for gaming is irrelevant, as _most_ games don't use more than 2 threads. Thus, having a quad core with 8 threads vs. a quad core with 4 threads is meaningless in regards to gaming performances (i.e. a i5 will perform as well as a i7 for the same clock speeds, same goes with AMD). But who knows for future game developments...
next gen games do and hyper threading does improve performanc in games eg a pentium g3258 can be oced to have the same clock speed as a i3 4150 and the i3 will out perform it both processors have 2 cores, the same architecture but the pentium is unlocked and the i3 has hyper threading and the pentium only matches the i3 when its oced to 4.5 ghz
Multi407D Until games use more than 4 threads, an i5 is most sufficient for the next 2-5 years, and will even perform better than an i7 given the same clock rate and gen/family, with its "pure" cores. But when this happens in the future (games using more than 4 threads), well then just upgrade the CPU if you can notice a real performance pit for the game you've chosen in that far future (no need to buy another PC, it's not like the console World)... Now, you talked about the Pentium and other types of CPU which are using hyperthreading, like the i3 using hyperthreading so that it can respond to more than 2 cores/threads (up to 4 threads, or "hyperthreads), that's all : of course for these CPU, hyperthreading WILL be relevant to bring them up to 4 threads, but I'm not talking about those here, I'm talking about 4 pure cores/threads vs 4 hyperthreads considering games that are mostly 2 threads and some mainstream/top 5 using that WILL be 4 threads (we're not even there for most games, even those new 2014/2015 titles).
Stick a GeForce gtx 760 card or an AMD Radeon equivalent card and your good to go with watchdogs, and you'll get a better experience and as far as I remember you could get a GeForce gtx 760 with 2gb GDDR5 I believe for around 249.99$ or so... I don't use Radeon cards so idk too much about those haha
LukeThePerson Like consoles some PC get out of date, and sometimes companies like this years ubisoft clearly dont care wither a game runs well or, is well optimised on PC
