It should be 30 degrees, but I went 20 degrees, it makes your bench sit up straighter in the back area., if you want the back higher, just make the front legs longer, instead of getting 2×8×10, get a 2×8×12 and do two 18" cuts and two 45", 46", 47", 55" etc. cuts, your choice for the front legs, same principles.

Nice to see a handsaw in use and not using a whole load of power tools

Nice clear video. Clearly you have good carpentry skills, hand sawing, using the speed square so quickly! But also simple enough for someone who doesn't.

You can use deck screws instead of carriage bolts and save money. They are plenty strong enough. I built a 2x12 Leopold bench and attached the legs using 2 1/2" deck screws.

Great video! I made one about 2 weeks ago. I need to stain and add some spar urethane.

Good work! But I think that carriage boats need to be more than 4" long. Maybe 4 1/2".

Why so long? They're only going through two 2× material. That's 3". 3 1/2" bolts are perfect

when I cut two 6 degree angles on my 18 inch legs , The legs are now less than a foot high. is this for a midget,

I think he meant 60 degrees
@Woodsyone
@Woodsyone 4 года назад
He did say 60°, but the angles he cut did not look beyond a 45 or maybe even 40°. The angle on the horizontal back rests should be in the 12° off of plumb range.....
