How to Build a Podium/Lectern for under $20.

That's an awesome little podium or lectern. WIth just a little elbow grease, you can hand plane and sand it. Then staining it will add the finishing touch. Your local paint store may have a batch of stain or paint that came out the wrong color that they're going to throw out or recycle. Also they sometimes have small sample cans that you can get for cheap. Well done!

cool man, thanks for the ideas. I need a podium as a portable pulpit by this weekend, have zero dollars, but have various bits of lumber and even some hardwood around for a cross or veneer

This is great. Also, as a Canadian, we often use both Imperial and Metric. Watching you do the imperial math seemed so complicated 😂 I usually work in imperial with wood projects, but then I’ll measure in metric to do any sort of math because it’s WAY SIMPLER, and then I’ll go back to using imperial haha.

Great job. I need a podium that can be used to read from from a sitting position during meditation, maybe a foot high. would the same plan used here support that height or would it be too top heavy you think?

Wouldn't a 4x4 work better as the "shaft" ? Also this is a lectern, not a podium
