If you make the lower brace on the outside off the legs and use 3/4 plywood for the cross brace you have a great shelf to put tools on . If you want to go a step further locate it at a height that a 5 gallon bucket is at ,and you can use planks between the sawhorses to use as a scaffolding to work above your head . Have a set works great .

Isn't it amazing how many different ways you can make a sawhorse. Arlo gives you great tips on putting the stringer at a height you can put a walk board on it.

I find that I'm learning new things about construction and some of my questions about home/house building were answered while watching. Nice sawhorse! 1 tip for attaching the legs to the top, use a bolt and nut with washers through both legs. Even stronger

If you didn't have the cross pieces on the legs they would be stackable. ;) The Restoration Couple built some super simple sawhorses back in January. (And yes, I realise this is way too late.) :p

@@Building_Jays_Way I'm sure they would be fine. Realistically speaking how much weight does a sawhorse have to carry throughout its life? It's never that much. Think about how flimsy a wooden step ladder is compared to a 2x4 and they carry 100kg/200lbs no problem.

Stackability, versatility, and sturdiness? When you spend a lot of time carrying back and forth from build sites and needing to carry sawhorses, you will find out the need to adopt the BEST design possible. However, if you just want a cheap and cheerful solution to support off ground, anything goes, even bottle crates. But if you want to be a great joiner or carpenter, do some research on the best design for your needs. Some good ones I saw for sale at about $30/set. My sets had a lot more details and functions than just a support base.

@@Building_Jays_Way as a man currently remodeling his home and started with 0 tools but has big eyes (like I want that exact planer for months now). I can only reference the thing you both know. Get ya foundation in tact lol. I currently am in the process of Reno my kitchen too, and one thing I learned too late was to work on one room at a time, pace myself, buy what's necessary for that project, and keep the area clean. I've wasted over a grand learning this, and im sure you guys realized that it's not the same as a new build. Old homes old problems. Oh your plumbing. If you're a novice...shark bites are the shit. If you want it professional, pex and crimp rings and tool. Depends on how much you are planning on moving the plumbing around, might be worth the investment in a crimper and rings.

@jeff weitzel We were super fortunate to have Dewalt sponsor us with the tools we have. The planer will be used when I start modifying my current kitchen cabinets and building new ones. Remodeling is definitely a totally different beast than new construction. It’s way more complicated in my opinion. Our next video on my home will show a mistake we made because we were thinking new construction. I hope your kitchen remodel goes well and doesn’t take as much time as mine. Thanks for your comment.

Why didn’t you just expand that part of the sawhorse on sketch up and print it off, you could then have cut out your angles?

Not sure if you wanted to make it so hard/complicated but much easier to just make an ibeam top then no need to make angles just screw together and they will be stackable

Why not keep it all at thirty degrees and add an extra piece on top, screwed up from the bottom as a scarificial. Might want to shorten the legs by the same amount.

Seriously though, with the currently absurd lumber prices, how happy are you now that you kept those studs you ripped out? Some people would have trashed them...not mentioning any names. Is Koda scared of power tool noise? Maybe that's why she was in the car?

It’s so nice to have that stack of wood. I’m into reusing materials and the fact that lumber prices are high makes it nicer. Koda was scared of power tools when she was younger, but now I have to keep an eye on her or she’ll want to attack the sawzall🤣 She was just being her normal weird self in a different way 🤣

@@Building_Jays_Way I'm also into recycling materials as much as possible. I'm in KY and right now a 2x4x8 is $7.33 at Lowes. Not only did you save a bundle of cash but you also reduced landfill waste....nice!
