Nice build. There are not many small glide baits on the market. I may take a stab at this…..your videos are definitely clear enough to be instructional. Thanks for sharing the results of all your work.
Happy I found your channel! I've been making my own lures recently and decided to look up some glide bait builds. This video popped up so I decided to check it out. Awesome video!
I like this build. Was wondering if u tried it in an area without current. As you know current has a significant affect on how the lure behaves. I would be interested in how it looked in a test tank ie. Sink rate, was it sitting level in the water. Etc. Explaining your line tie placement would also be helpful. Nice build.
This is the first video of yours I’ve seen and I really enjoyed it. Great job on the little glide! I live and fish in East Tennessee and that little dude would wreak havoc on the big river smallmouth around here. Would love to have one. Have you considered making a mold and casting resin baits from this?? I’m fairly new to bait making and I’ve been working on getting a couple larger swimbait prototypes of mine dialed in over the last year or so and it’s the tiniest of details that matter that can make or break the action your looking for. Again, awesome job on getting a lure this small to glide and slice through the water so nicely, especially considering the current. I look forward to watching your channel grow. Best wishes for your future success👍🏻
Thanks so much for the kind words!...I fish East Tennessee too!...yes you are so right..the tiniest details make all the difference in bait performances...I do make some larger glides, and am considering the smaller one, just not sure if it will bring the price for the effort...thanks again for the nice words!
I designed an 8” gizzard shad , built the model, made a mold and then shipped the mold to Chris Jones of world’s worst fishing, and he is gonna pour it, and paint it!
Looks great especially for it's size...the Deps 115 is the smallest jointed glide I've fished and I wasn't impressed. The smallest jointed glide I've made that worked and caught fish was 7 inches. I'm working on some smaller one's too, but they really don't glide as well as when large. Really just kind of swim but no glide. Maybe that's why it took them so long to become a thing? Most lure designs are small and work pretty well at any size, but glides need size to bring out their best characteristics.
@@reelfunnyfishing651 I’ve never fished it, but did go and look at its action, beautiful bait, but like you said not much mass, not much glide… I’d say in a River one could impart a lot action if you were to work the rod
Hi Todd, i am new to making lures i like your idea with the pin into the joints, what are the little s/steel pieces you used for the joints ? a top idea, love the video Cheers Aussie Chris.
Thank you, the wire pieces I use in the joints are called hook hangers and are commonly used when making crank baits, they can be order from a company called Roscoe inc.
Great video and I love the intro! Has anyone ever told you that you look like actor Jack Coleman (plays the senator in The Office)? Just wondering lol.
I'm very curious is that a jig saw that you mounted upside down ? I've been thinking of trying that since I don't have a band saw. If it is a jig saw do you have any tips ?
Interesting you say that!… I usually drop the rear hook when I make baits if I think I’ll get better action, for some reason I did not think of that….might have to try that!… thanks for the input!
You do not soac that wood in water to check weight. That piece of that wood hawe to be painted with clear water resistance paint and cure, and than check for needed weight. Other way that wood will suck water and get wet. Than you hawe to dray it which will make a lot of waisting time.
