Another way to create wooden beams that works with a ceiling, is to draw walls on the first floor where you want beams to be, then replace them with spandrels. The decorative edges don't appear when they intersect with regular walls instead of columns, so this works even with the ornate base game spandrels, but it's especially effective with the Seasons and Get Together spandrels.
True. I don't generally recommend that method simply because it then breaks the space up into a bunch of tiny rooms, but you are correct in that it will achieve much the same effect.
@@sahm_and_bean yeah, that can be annoying. I always add these kind of beams at the very end of the build so that painting the walls and placing objects isn't such a pain.
It's definitely a style worth revisiting! The closest furnishing job I've done to storybook is probably this one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wQLDyY_hz0c.htmlsi=K6JuHtH4RcFl1Cm-
Hi Sahm, love this video! I was wondering if you could do some large homes for your next few build like a nerd videos? I really enjoyed your Georgian colonial video and haven’t been able to find any other videos similar to it. Keep up the good work - Leo ❤️
I do have some large homes in the lineup! My plan is actually to try and do a beginner friendly one next, since I haven't done a lot of those this year, but I will try and prioritize a large home in the coming weeks as well. Being a one-man band I can't promise getting specific videos up super quickly, but I can assure you the series is far from dead 💙 thanks for the feedback and the comment 🥰
I do have a video for the split level on the right, but the Tudor on the left is a pretty old build of mine and I wasn't making content at that time. They are also all three on the gallery (ID is sahmandbean) if you'd like to take a closer look :)
Oooh super excited for this one! All your build like a nerd vidoes are amazing, but I've always loved little fantasy fairytale looking houses like this!!
Aww, thank you 💙💙 this one was so fun to put together! I try to make them as simple as possible to follow but I might have to do a speedbuild one too to pull in some of my crazier ideas lol
Is there a house style that is like this but for Victorian homes?: Or is that still considered storybook? There's a whole street of Victorians by me and one of them reminds me of this!
They could be Queen Anne or Eastlake. Those tend to have more of the decorative styles. However the Gothic Revival is the one most likely to have front-facing high-pitched gables like this 🤔
Oh no! I'm in a few Facebook groups and unfortunately you're not alone 😞 which seems extra irritating since apparently consoles were supposed the be the focus of this patch 😒
Hi! I have recently discovered your channel and love all of your videos! You give such helpful information and tips! I wanted to see if you could explain how you fixed your tower? I'm following along and building with you and when you put your second story on your tower, there's a problem with the ceiling on top of the platform. That piece of the ceiling is missing. I have the same problem in my build as I'm following along. However it looks like you maybe edited the video in that exact spot and I can't tell how you fixed the tower. When I try to copy mine, it only copies 3/4 of it. Any advice you can give my noobie self is much appreciated!
Actually nvm I figured it out. For anyone else that might be having the same problem, I just deleted the current tower and built the entire first floor tower off to the side by itself using 4 rounded platforms and then adding walls. Then I just attached the whole thing to the house.
Unfortunately I recorded this too long ago to remember, and my ceilings are glitching a ton right now so I wouldn't even feel confident replicating the issue. My guess would be I just repeated the process but that's super uncool of past me to not have kept that in the video. I'm so sorry 😭
