Mat Busch Hi, thank you , i got the seat from an eBay shop from India , if you do a search you should find them, cant remember what i searched for (pan seat or bobber seat) something like that, remember to adjust your search settings worldwide 👍🏻
Hey I got a question, when you changed the air filters, what did you do with air control valve? Cause I'm what to change my air filters to more like yours but not sure about the air control valve
Gave the engine a full service, and fitted the slip on pipes and air filters, it was that easy, she runs great, my other half has had it doing 80mph on many occasions
Hi do you know if the suzuki gz125 frame will take the vl125 vtwin engine?? I'm just in the middle of "bobbering" my gz125 but really like the twin exhaust of the VL
The front mudguard was chopped and flipped to make the rear guard, i used a bit i chopped off rear guard to make a tiny front guard with a template and by heating it in the oven and shaping the curve over the tyre.
Hi, I'm building a bobber aswell off my 125 vl intruder but after i changed airfilters the bike is not running good.. We have the same airfilters so i'm wondering how did you do it, and what else did you do to get it running smooth.. My bike is adjusting itself from low to high rpm all the time.
+PBmk211 Hi, i never had any problems with hunting at idle after fitting the air filters, but...... when i was reassembling the bike i did have to replace the intake pipe from the air box to the carb as it was split. assuming the engine is well serviced and ignition system is functioning correctly with good plugs, the hunting you describe is usually caused by an air leak, so check for cracks or splits in your intake pipes and manifolds and that your carb is seated and sealed correctly, the easy way to check for leaks in the intake is to use a butane burner and let a trickle of gas flow out as the engine is running while moving it around the areas if there is a leak your engine will increase in speed. this is obviously quite a dangerous procedure so exercise extreme caution and keep the gas flow minimal. If that doesn't help try looking at the fuel system, check your fuel cock isn't blocked with dirt or water in your tank, check your carb bowl, float needle and needle port are clean, check your jets are not blocked and choke is functioning correctly.
thanks for replaying! I'm gonna start on the build when the snow is here :) just done some small quick changes, like airfilters. I'm gonna take it all appart and look at it in the winter... I was hoping i could use you or ye ask you this winter if i get any other problems, maybe you also got them when you was building and you figured out a way to fix it!
Hi, just wondering how you got the bike to run good after changing the air filters? Where did you run the smaller rubber tube that connected from the old silver air filter to the carb? With the air filters off on mine it does not want to start properly and there's no where to connect this smaller rubber tube to.
My bike runs grand with the filters on i didn't do anything beyond a full service and maintenance, you may need to adjust your idle mixture screw , but id recommend an oil & filter change, spark plugs, and if your handy with the tools carb clean and check valve clearances (assuming you haven't done that already) 👍🏻
Vulpes i did indeed, just masked off everything and painted it with hight temp spray paint, the air filters are universal pod filters i found on amazon
Thank you, everything on the bike was made from parts off the bike, i flipped and modified the original front mudguard to become the rear guard, and i cut the small front guard from the original rear mudguard and heated it in the oven tho shape it, i bought the seat from India through ebay and all the other brackets and fittings I fabricated myself from junk lying around my garage 👍🏻 oh and the exhaust slip on pipes and filters are ebay specials
Hi the guard is attached to the rear swing arm with small right angled brackets i made from my brothers old bed frame and self drilling metal screws , the two struts on either side salvaged from an Enfield 500 bullet mudguard
Are you UK based? I'm bobbing a rebel at the moment. Just wondering if you've had and legal/mot issues with the side mount and which side should it be on?
Caseys Ghost, i am scottish based and i have a shadow bobber and an intruder chop both with some cut frames, stright pipes and sharp edges, i did have MOT issues with the edges and noice but luckly the boy i go to and passes anyone for a bottle of rum came back from holiday haha
Leroy Donaldson no i bought the seat then found a hinged bracket and pretty much made it up as i went along, you usually have to think outside the box and make things fit
Why would you say building a motorcycle custom fitted for my 5’ tall 46kg lady pointless? It does 85mph and crazy mpg. The literal point is she loves it. Looser
