The galley unit is an essential component to any camper van build or van conversion. I chose to use 80/20 aluminum extrusions, an undermount granite composite sink, a 12 volt DC fridge, and custom made blum drawers. I hope that you find inspiration from this galley unit install.

Game changer when you discovered issue with arm hitting frame while reach for sink. LOVED, the quick switcheroo of the cabinet frames. Got to love the versatility of 80/20. Great video! At this speed I should be done in about 3 years. So funny! I'm building my first van and it is taking so much longer than I thought it would. I have two videos up but they are so bad. Need to make a new one. I'm much further in my project and totally dream about it. literally spend hours thinking about how to fit something. I really like a lot of your ideas!

I would use a waterproof material for the back of the galley and then turn the kitchen sink faucet around and use it like an outdoor shower head. I know you have an indoor shower but this would be good for quick things like washing hair. If I ever make one, I'd probably just have the outdoor shower and use the shower space for something else inside.

Glad to see you noticed the elbow-banger next to the sink... you might want to raise your fridge up to the top of the cabinet to give you some relief from kneeling to get things out... you could also rotate it 90 degrees so you could access the lower section from the outside ... at 63 yrs old I would probably mount it in an upper cabinet!!! Keep up the great videos with all the details...

I’m doing up exactly the same Sprinter. I wish I could just pull mine alongside yours and we could work together. You have tons of space and great weather by the looks of it. I have so many skills from working in the building trade for years and you are such an adept learner. I’m impressed by how quick you learn and your enthusiasm is encouraging. Each stage I’m never 100% sure about what I’m going to do but after doing it I’m so much more confident and was wondering why I was worried in the first place. Here in the uk we seem to have difficulty in getting the same materials as you. Maple ply is not available as far as I know and we seem to just have the Birch. Single seats for a 2018 model are like hens teeth and the 80/20 is very, very expensive. I’ve never seen anyone in the uk use 80/20. Please let me know if anyone has seen this being used. When I’m working on my van, very slowly I can never see the end

good video man, a helpful tip to save buying a router for the bases of the drawers is that you use the track saw to cut out a groove for the base, then cut your drawer pieces to dimensions. it's easier to do it in one big piece, then to cut the smaller ones compared to how you've shown in the video

Excellent video and very very helpful for us who sit and dream of copying you one day .....BUT, a quick question or suggestion....on the back support of the forward facing two draws, the thin angle bracket holding the back of the draw...imho, and from an engineering background....I suggest you make a thicker bracket that can help in holding the weight of whatever you are storing in those draws. The downward force are imho too great for the small bracket. Simply make the same thing with more material in the vertical plane as it were. This way it'll be able to handle larger items without risking deforming or bending that bracket. Just a suggestion.....otherwise a fantastic video as usual.....can't wait to see it finished.

to cut the baseboard to fit your sink, turn your sink upside down exactly over where you want it, trace around the edge, then mark about 1/2 inch inside your trace and cut. Make adjustments if needed.

Dude! Applause for your application of aluminum extrusion. Strong, lighter-weight, aircraft standards. No fault in deviating from aluminum / or kevlar honeycomb panels (you said How Much, a square foot?!!). Just wanted to ask, is the butcher/block to sink joint a problem? ( I was thinking that joint would "wick" fluids out, over the edges of the sink... ) - capillary action - and could delaminate the maple. (?)

when you're cutting a slot with a router you don't use the flat fence. You should run the curved side of the router base against a straight guide. That way if you accidentally twist the router it won't make your slot wander. Use the straight fence for edge rebates/rabbets.

Great vids! Thanks so much!! Can you tell us the width of your galley? I know the fridge is 19.4" deep. We will most likely get the same one. But we are also adding a wet bath in our 170 and it's a 24 inch deep pan. So after the 80/20, we're looking at a narrow hallway. I was wondering what your galley's width is and how many inches is it from it to the other side of your walkway. Thank you!

Do you think the horizontal piece at the bottom of sink satchel is necessary? It seems like the vertical piece would be strong enough. I'm surprised you didn't have the drawer faces overlap the extrusion more on the sides. I'm curious to see how you have the facing work on the edge of the 80/20 nearest the van door alongside the double drawer. You could have the drawer faces come all the way over the edge of the cabinet rear panel. If you find those double drawers don't hold weight enough, you can always get 8-32 tnuts and then use #8-32 X 1-1/2" truss head machine screws to attach the slides to cross pieces of extrusion. It won't interfere with the slides.
@seven_o_savage

I could not extend the faces because they would become incompatible with the latches I’m using (next video). Good idea on the drawers although they will hold more than enough weight with current mounts

Did you try flipping those L-shaped flanges over (the ones to support the sink on each side) and using T-slot fasteners? That arrangement of 8020 pieces on each side (to hold the flanges) seems like a huge waste of time and money. Believe me, that 8020 stuff is more than capable of holding the weight without building that substructure.
