How to Build a Wooden DIY Dartboard Wall Protector

If you have ever played darts, you have most likely missed the dartboard at some point. If you were playing darts at your local bar, then having a dart miss the board probably didn't concern you very much. But, if you are playing darts at your house, then having a dart miss the board, stick into your drywall, and leaving a hole is definitely concerning. That is why I’m building a wall protector. I want to protect my drywall from stray darts and avoid it looking like a peg board. This ended up being a quick and easy project that made playing with steel tipped darts stress-free because we didn't have to worry about a dart missing the board. If you are considering installing a dart board in your house, I highly recommend you install something to protect your drywall, regardless if you are playing with steel tipped darts or peg board darts, because even peg darts are capable of punching into drywall.

Thanks for the video and thanks for your service. We are keeping all deployed service members in our prayers. I bought 3/8" thick cork tiles. After watching your video I decided to attach all my scrap 3/4" boards to the wall and glue the cork to the boards. Don't want to glue anything directly to the drywall as this is a mess if it ever has to be removed in the future.

Great job. But why did you placed your wall straight behind the door? Somebody would open the door and run in the room while you're playing and get accidently bulls eye in his face🎯

When the door is open it helps to hide the dart board wall and I have other things I intend to build/mount on other sections of the walls because the entire room is going to be a game room. The chances of anyone walking into the room while playing darts is practically zero, I do not have any kids in the house and you can hear the impact of the dart into the board if you are on the other side of the door. But since the chance isn't zero and someone could walk in I swapped the door handle on that door with the handle of a closet door for under my stairs. For some reason they installed a locking handle on the door and you could accidentally lock yourself into that closet so this way I solved two problems and you can never lock yourself or anyone out of the game room since there is another entrance.

I apologize I meant to include that info in the description. I used three 2x4x8s, seven 1x6x8, I used pocket hole screws to attach the 1x6s to the 2x4s so the screws would stop at the face of the wood. I also used Minwax wood stain and wood conditioner. The dart board I bought from Dicks Sporting Goods, I do not remember the brand. If you want a shelf under the dart board like I did that was attached with 4 metal L shape brackets. All my screws and brackets are black because I painted them with Rustoleum Universal Black Hammered Spray Paint.
