Thank you everyone. Here's a little extra tip for you. Young or immature builders wont show you how to fix something because there "secrets" make them money. The reason older experienced builders dont do videos like this is they dont have the time to waste showing you how to do something the way they do it just to read a bunch of comments like "Well my buddy built 1 motor in the last 25 years and he did not do it that way" or "Well i just dont think it should be done that way". We have spent all our lives learning how to work on these motors and i for one dont want to die off with out passing on what i have learned. Michel is doing you a great service by showing you how things really work and if the people of this channel are respectful and learn then i can tell you that other builders from my day who have done incredible things with the 250R would be more then happy to do an interview and some teaching for this channel.
Dave thank you for passing on your knowledge to the ATC / TRX 250R community. ( Please consider passing more of your knowledge and doing these types of videos in the future for us 2 strokes loyalist.) Thank you
The community needs this! The next generation will know something better in keeping their r's alive. Thank you both for putting this together. What a great set of videos this will be
Can’t question dave and his knowledge when it comes to the 250r engine. He loses more 250r knowledge in one morning sh*# than all of us will ever know. He’s been a great guy for the R community.
I’m building a 86 bottom end with long rod crank assembly with the 86 style piston, but all the different variations and different combinations on how you can build these engines is amazing you have so many options.. one thing with being my first 250r engine ( ive built many 2t-4t engines on quiet a few different machines) there’s isn’t a lot of comprehensive information on them so thank the both of you for sharing this knowledge!
You know, we never really touched on the differences with the long rod and short rod and that can definitely get confusing. Glad you're enjoying these videos; thanks for watching!
That was really cool to see how easily he put those case halves together, I guess when you have been doing it for years it’s pretty much second nature at that point! Great video can’t wait to see the rest of the build
Best atv content on RU-vid and it just keeps getting better! Keep up the good work man. Also Dave seems like a really awesome dude, full of knowledge and ability but not stingy with it and very eager to share it with others. Doesn’t belittle someone just because they don’t know as much as him. Keep on rockin it👍🏻
@@MichaelSabogutsy move putting a motor u built that didn’t perform as expected. Good on ya mate, I’ll show my boys this and show them even a top operator can learn and here you are showing kids you’ve got the bones to watch and learn from an expert. Well done gents
Iv know about engine building stand for the past cpl- few years. After watching this man do i need one in a bad way. The 2x4 box isnt cutting the mustard anymore lol. Awesome work. Dave seems to be the real deal but very humble which makes it an easy watch.

That was A Very Informative Video! I don't even have A 20 R, but it is always great to watch and Learn From Someone who has been doing this for a long time do something like this. Looking Forward to the next ones!
Awesome info. Thanks for putting this stuff out mike, makes me feel better about pulling apart my motor knowing that there’s a video on how to put it back together.
Holy shit what an awesome video! Dave seems like such a cool extremely knowledgeable guy and asset to the 250R community!! That engine stand made me drool! I CANNOT WAIT to see the rest! 😎😎😎😎😎
This is awesome. Can't wait for the other bits. Can you go into detail in the water pump seal? And into jetting and setup of the carb? Would love some 2 stroke knowledge there
This is awesome. Really helpful for when I do my 250r motor. I REALLY wish there was a re assembly video for the tri z motor. I’m afraid I’m gonna put my tri z motor together wrong
Great video little late today sorry I went out for a ride today. New video of ride just uploaded if your interested. But I love your channel definitely very knowledgeable.
I looked up this video once before and watched part of it. I'd like to ask Dave M. one question now that I'm in the process of needing to build three Honda TRX250R engines, one for my Arens chassis, LED 310 GNCC race quad, 2nd is for my 86 TRX250R that has had the stock cylinder re-sleeved by LA Sleeve 295cc sleeve, a 3rd cause I'm selling a 86 TRX250R to a teenager that works on a buddy's farm. I was out of the 250R game from 03' - 20'. I've put many 250R engines together in the past, and I'm sure if Dave saw me assembling some in the past, he'd most Iikely file criminal charges against me for abuse and neglect of 250R engines. I want to build them to much higher standard than I had in the past. And one question I have is- How do you (Dave Moore) put the bearings in the engine halves? I've heard many suggestions and everyone has their own opinion. Me, in the past did it on a Shop Press. But I've heard some people say i shouldn't do it that way because I am removing material from the bearing journal. Is that true? Or is it just fine. What is your prefference on Engine bearings? OEM or other manufacture, recommendations of which supplier's product you recommend if not OEM. Thanks for repoending
Mike I’ve tried to find where to purchase the engine stand from Dave with no luck also cannot find the rekluse clutch kit for the 250r any help would be appreciated thanks
@@budmcdonald9190 CPI is one of the only companies around making cylinders at this point as far as I know. They're great cylinders. In my CPI video description I have a list of all of their current distributors! 🤘 Hope this helps!
@@MichaelSabo thanks for the info. I’m currently out in Japan 🇯🇵 and out of loop on what’s going on.. trying to get all my parts together to finish putting it together when I get back in the states!
