Wow! This is really sharp looking. Caught my eye instantly. Gifts, to sell, I know this will be a good project for me. Beautiful! Loove it! My first build of this will be my own. Thank you!
Thanks a lot, I really appreciate it. I'll definitely be doing one on the flag jig and I can also do one on those easels. I'm trying to get out an update on the staining video and the last 3 videos for the small concealment boxes (how to make the flag without a CNC, how to carve the foam insert, and how to mount it on the wall) most of those are already filmed, I just have to get them edited. But that flag jig will be soon, as well the easels, since you asked! I'll probably do a video explaining everything in detail, then put plans on my website (something else I'm working on) I'll also be making an assembly jig for the crosses, as I have to do another batch soon. I also have videos filmed already for the way I store and packout my stuff for transport to craft fairs and such. I've also got some custom builds and furniture builds coming up. Lots of cool stuff on the way!
I have made boxes with drawer slides, in fact my very first video on this channel shows one. I haven't specifically made a cost rack with them, but I certainly could. A Betsy Ross flag is just a different union with fewer stars, so no problem.
Thanks for the video Tom. A great project I'll get to hopefully soon. Have you watered down the new formula yet? I picked up the red and blue; the only part that's a real challenge is wiping off closest to the razor blades and having it blend correctly if that makes sense.
Not yet. I'm hoping I can get to that this weekend. It's not as easy as just walking into the shop and doing it anymore. Now I have to plan angles and lighting and what I'm going to say, keep the wife and kids quiet and from walking in on me while filming, etc. It's a whole production to just get anything done. I'll also be working on the video for making a small flag for the concealment boxes without a CNC this weekend, as well as working on a custom flag for a customer. Going to be a busy weekend.
Tom, what a fantastic looking coat rack! Love the builder love the detail! Will be looking at building a few of these myself! Out of curiosity, how much are you selling these for if you have sold any thus far?
Thanks for the kind words! I have sold several of these. Like anything else, the price is heavily dependent on a number of factors specific to you and your market. That said, I choose to work with select pine, because it's less sanding, better looking, easier to burn, etc. (I talk about this in detail in my how to burn video), but it's more expensive. The common boards are cheaper and will bring down material costs. You could also save with a smaller (less wide) hook support board and smaller, cheaper hooks. But using select pine and taking into account the average time it takes me to make one of these, I am currently charging $225 for them. I have sold them for as low as $175, but that was a few years ago when wood was way cheaper, and I was using common boards.
