How To: Build an Economy in Medieval 2 Total War - Part 1 

Well... it's only been 3 years since part 1 so I should probably upload part 2 right? I will be working on part 2 soon so keep your eyes peeled for the upload!

Hey, i can see you really put some effort into this video and made it all from scratch. My opinion: Good job, good content, i got what i was looking for and got the information delivered to me in an easy-to-understand fashion, but still pertinent and actually helpful.

My strategy.. expand quickly to the rebel settlements near you. Trade rights & map info everyone. Lower taxes in all your cities for maximum population growth. Get an army in a couple ships with a diplomat. Go to a distant land across the map, take a shitty city or a large unguarded city, sell all their shit & have your diplomat sell it back to them. You can get 10k florins easily. If you want sell it to their neighbour they will try take it back & go to war. Do this for as many cities as you can whilst constantly upgrading your own cities. $$$

Why Italian Factions have such a huge advantage, their Militia is awesome And if you put Crusader Guilds in their cities you can recruit strong Cavalry

Something to take into account while setting tax is that higher tax reduce the growth of the city. It could get really significant in the long term. It's why I usually set taxe to low when i can afford It, the population growth make it worth it in a few 10s of turns I gess

Before the video starts Stacked Merchants being escorted by Army with loyal Generals on valuable resources provides massive boost to economy High tax’s before the point of revolting Trade agreements with everyone early game Settlements with extreme amounts of income, example Venice raiding everything, sacking cities, raze all buildings in every city that you can’t control and defend then raise taxes until they revolt then do it again until you can control it.

The thing that changed the game for me: -Send out 3 diplomats asap, one east, one west and one south or north depending where you are on the map. -Sell trade rights and alliances to everyone you can. Hold back map info for those who are reluctant. Slightly increase your price with each subsequent ally as the value will increase. -This is the big one. Don’t ask for large single payments. Instead ask for smaller tributes over as many turns as possible. This is because in the early game, you will likely not have enough stuff to spend money on. Regular tribute means a boost to spending power every turn that you can actually use. -Crusade to Egypt asap, send merchants to cash in on spice, cotton, ivory, silk, and slaves.

Idk if u still read comments here but if so, well done on the video; it seems really well researched and made. I do however have one small criticism: the images you show I could not see as they were so small.

But it is still one of the most Played Games, and i just picked up 2 different series, Britannia and Attila on Sale, also was thinking on getting Rome-2 And this one on Ur video. I just got a Question on the Building construction. Do you just click and wait for the Green Level to Rising till it finish like here at 3:09 ? ... I ask this cuz like the game Medieval Kingdom Wars when you build you see it being built. i Mean Medieval Kingdom Wars to me its sort of overwhelming, do to the like cluttering of all the building Ect you Literally sit there Navigate around looking for the building you want to Build, well least as a beginner. All in All, i really didn't like the game but didn't give it much a chance, but for reasons, of the Mechanics of the game. I will continue watching Ur videos, see if i can follow, so far there good.

Arracking right away? Why not? Legends of total war has some great points and tips for that kind of campaign. It really isnt that hard to play this game with rapid expansions of your teritory and yet almost always be in 0 or + at the end of turn. Most of the factions are ez to do this with.

I have seen how slowly an ancient game like M2TW runs on this guy's rig so he must be using a truly potato PC or even a cheap potato laptop because I have an ancient i3 duo w 4GB ram and no grfx card [dated 2009] and it runs M2TW as smooth as a knife thru butter with details set to max and max size units. That could explain why he hasn't created any more content. Guy probably had something crash cos he has uploaded a lot of naff cardgame vids called 'Hearthstone' & may have lost a HDD. Poor guy prob hasn't got the cash to build a better rig. Christ, I gotta spare stick of Corsair Vengeance 2400 8GB ram but it won't work on older motherboards. It's for Z170 mobos only. The best way to play M2TW is with the Stainless Steel Mod with the Full Realism Project - you can start off playing as Knights Hospitaller at Jerusalem, beseiged or one of many different nations. The French use a lot of Scots and Irish merc forces. The LotR Mod is also pretty good, if you like that kinda thing, but there are different Ages of Man, Elves and Dwarf Mods too, I think. Certainly, from the Silmarilien. And a shitload of other Mods from the Total War Forums Mods section.
