The download for my Line 6 Helix / HX Stomp Complete Preset Library with over 50 presets has now moved to my website. Use this link - bit.ly/3hkkTCh As of July 2020, there have been over 300 downloads of my preset library. Many have written back and expressed their satisfaction and it’s my hope that you’ll enjoy these presets too. While I was working on cruise ships, I refined each of these presets over the course of countless rehearsals and performances with a live band, not to mention the hours I spent sitting at the front of house desk in the main theater after-hours. These presets have been meticulously tuned to suit professional use and I believe you’ll find that they’re versatile and incredibly reliable across whatever Helix unit and amplification device you decide to use. The Complete Preset Library exists in a Google Drive folder that I am constantly adding new presets to so check back frequently! I appreciate your support and your donation is good for life. I’m looking forward to building this community together and would love to hear from you if you have any questions at all. By going through my website, you're now able to pay with credit card and will receive the preset library instantly. If you’d prefer to use PayPal, just send $15 to www.PayPal.me/AlexanderPriceMusic and make the note “Complete Preset Library” so I know what to send you! This requires me to reply individually by email so please be patient. You may find all of my Helix preset bundles at www.AlexPriceMusician.com/helix
man this is gold! now I know why my previous octaver sound didnt have that bite sound, all I need is to split the signal. cant wait for my next gig using this new preset. thanks!
Great video, Alex! I'm a long time bass player, but brand new HX Stomp XL user. I've been looking around for useful info on how to apply the unit to my playing and this was very helpful. Thanks for putting in the hard work and sharing your knowledge with us.
Glad to hear it was helpful! Thanks for checking it out Jeremy. I have a few new bass videos out this month that might be useful too if you want to check out some more.
Fantastic video. Great explanation. I'm a longtime guitar player, newish helix owner, and brand new bass player. This patch sounds 10x better than the couple I made. Thank you!
I am loving the LT myself, I have it set up running two rigs one always clean with a focus on the low end, and one with a focus on the top end and effects get added to that path. I have found it very helpful to put a gain block set to -10 db in front of most amp blocks. I do use active basses though.
Man, thanks for the effort! Would have been nice to see the stomp as you switch around the different settings. I have no clue how you get the volume boost on button three or the overdrive. The downloaded preset just doesn't do that for me if I use the different buttons. I hear some modulation, but the pitch shift doesn't happen for example and the volume boost and drive on the third button also don't work for me. Do you have an idea what could be wrong? Does this maybe need updating for the latest firmware? I am complete beginner and need to guidance. Haha.
Have you set up stomp 3 in global settings? The Stomp comes with FS3 acting as a tap/tuner. You'll want to go into global settings and set footswitch 3 function to Stomp 3 in order for it to act as a stompswitch. You can still access the tuner by pushing the page right and action buttons at the same time. I would also definitely recommend updating to the latest firmware, but that shouldn't be needed for this to work.
Thanks for this. Great video! I'm new to the HX Stomp and HX Edit. My question for you is; how do you create that Signal Path Split at the beginning of the chain? I haven't been able to figure that out
I pretty much only work in HX Edit so I can't tell you how to do it on the unit itself, but in HX edit you can just create a new block and then click and drag it down and a second path will appear.
@@AlexPriceMusician Thanks for the reply, Alex. Yes, I was trying to figure it out in HX Edit. After downloading the manual for HX Edit, I did find the answer. That step wasn't quite as intuitive as most of the other options. Thanks again
Hello Alex and thanks about your video, great¡ only a question, can I use the helix but only like a DI ?, I mean, my bass-Helix-PA BUT nos using emulate of amp and not using emulate cab, only my active bass thanks
That was very useful and informative as always. I have an HX Stomp, but haven't tried my bass with it yet. I know there are compromises, but have you tried getting bass sounds from a standard guitar, and what kind of results did you get? Thanks
I had tried before but it wasn’t really usable due to the unreliable tracking. I was using simple pitch before but now we have a new pitch shifting block so maybe it’s worth another shot?
@@AlexPriceMusician I tried with the new pitch shifting block, and still had unreliable tracking problems. It's getting closer to usable, but I couldn't get it close enough to feel comfortable using it. If someone has, please chime in. Thanks Alex. I always appreciate your experience and insights. 👍
Hi Alex. Great video. Is there a way to have a completely different sound from low frequencies vs mid/hi frequencies using a split? I want to have something like a deep synthy or dist bass and then tap something cleaner higher up the fretboard with my other hand. But I'm not sure if the splits are actually that effective
You can try it, I do something similar with my Boss OC-3/OC-5 emulation patch. I have a video on my channel of that preset. I would look up a frequency chart and find the exact note that you want to be the crossover frequency. It’s probably something like 150? Even still, your low strings have plenty of harmonic information, and that’ll always pass through the upper frequency path.
@AlexPriceMusician Thanks for the response. This is the video I think you are referring too and it is awesome ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7RlgUHPzh9s.htmlsi=zlg7SALOTF0unYP8 ). I wanted to get a boss gt 1000 but from what I can tell, you can't pick an arbitrary split frequency like you can in the helix. You did such a great job demonstrating that. Also, while I was looking through that, I can't across your helix synth videos. Great stuff!
Alex: have you even worked on a (regular) guitar to bass preset for HX/Helix? I guess it'd be a combination of octaver, comp, filtering and a bass amp block. Would love to see what you'd come up with! (See the EHX Bass 9 for reference)
Hi Alex I’m new to your Chanel, and I find it really helpful, question .. is probably a dumb question but anyways, are those 50 presets for bass Or I have to tweak them I use and active jazz bass 5 strings Thanks 🙏🏽
Not specifically, no. I don't keep either of my basses with roundwound strings. If you try this one out, let me know how it sounds. Maybe just tame some of the high end.
It has active electronics, yes, but they’re set to bypass. The tone and volume controls are passive. The only active pieces are a treble and bass boost, which I don’t use.
