I used Incandescent Bulbs to keep concrete warm in our 🇨🇦 Prairie Winter pours...Tarp them over good...put 2 bulbs ( backup in case 1 dies ).. depending on the weather and size of concrete pour ( i did Sign bases so not huge ) i would use 100 to 200 watt bulbs... the heat output is enough to heat and dry inside easily.... a Propane heater would do it faster in your case... blowing the hot air through the bricks .... even an Electric space heater and covering the bricks would do it quickly....🇨🇦🤓🤙

You have my greatest sympathy Alex. I've suffered badly, on and off, with car sickness ever since I was a child (and I'm not far off 70 now.) I must've tried every tablet on the market, but to no avail. For anyone not affected by it you'll never understand how debilitating it really can be at its worst.

Good luck with the hip Steve, hope you get a call soon and get the surgery done and the recovery process started. One advantage of suffering with a bad joint for so long is that you've leaened to adapt to the limitations and the pain, so the recovery is fairly easy, especially for someone like you who just gets on with it. I just had a shoulder done after it slowly getting worse over the last 10 years- post op pain is no worse than before on a bad day. The pain drugs afterwards are amaaaaaaaazing, and not for the pain!😃

When the camera fell while you were loading the boards I thought you were playing back your view as you went down with the bricks. Glad none of the equipment or the van suffered any damage as Alex said the important things were damaged of course dad wasn’t hurt either. Steve are you the least important thing on the job 😂😂 😊. Laser and tamp was a brilliant idea. I used rebar for my levels but this idea better.

After pissing about playing 'Human Jenga' with the bricks, you two managed to achieve a good day's work! Just loved to hear you went for your pre-op Steve - things must be looking up at long last! And how you can eat chocolate cake AND a bacon butty if beyond belief. And as for finishing early? Chaps, Do you have anymore lintel videos coming along soon? That last extension you did turned out very well, I was suitably impressed. There were some interesting comments regarding water ingress and cavity trays - but its all a bit like cutting into existing cavities and inserting vertical damp, and breaking into existing cavities to prevent cold bridging between old and new work - its nice to have but for not much gain. However, if the Architect/ Building control/client require it, then it must go in. We should always strive to improve the thermal & weather tight integrity of our extensions/buildings but some of these details are a lot of "faff" and expense for a minuscule gain, and in some instances zero gain. As the old saying goes, if something aint broke - don`t try and fix it. However, that is just my personal view. Keep on - keeping on you two and see you on the next one. 😁👍👍 PS: Lets hope that @elon-the-nun keeps his puerile, asinine and vindictive comments to himself in future.

great job guys, just one thing I would of got a digger in for all trench work like that , pass cost on to customer , saves your back in the long run and you can work longer with no back issues , I did not take my own advise hence very bad back and knees

Good luck with the op - given how fit you are you will recover very fast - but listen to the physio and follow the exercise program even if some of it seems a bit mickey mouse...you need to avoid the temptation to rush it.

Just a question Steve why lay block flat ? Why. It just go straight off foundation with brick ? Seems pointless concrete footing then lay concrete block as you say your bit aiming to hit any particular height

Love your stuff I'm a subscriber but with your hip problem I would hardly describe the job to date as perfect when a ton of bricks laid you flat and could have left you in a hospital bed ? To those who asked. I would have learned from the earlier incident where Steve could have been seriously injured and stacked the bricks in lower more stable stacks. The easiest wat to secure a site is by using site fencing which you can hire for for £6 per panel per day. the simplest way is to to use barrier tape on posts. What most builders don't consider is that they expose their client to the same responsibilities for an unsafe site because all home owners have a Duty of Care to all persons going onto their property whether invited or not.

I'm rather surprised at your adolescent response. Had a child got injured or god forbid killed from your unsafe practice you would need Public Liability insurance cover for 10s of millions of pounds and i'm pretty sure that your policy will not cover such negligence. I assume you informed the health and safety executive of YOUR near miss. @SteveAndAlexBuild ​

Hi mate whats the depth and thickness of your concrete, its 450 wide right for the 215 wall, Im doing a 328x328 and 665x665 piers would that be on a 900 footing for the 665 and 600 wide for the smaller pier, cheers pal
