Great work!! Where did you buy those trolleys for moving the steel about please? I've used numerous methods and recently settled with some furniture type 3 wheeled trolleys. Those that you use would be very handy for future projects. Cheers

Hi fatprawnMTB we purchased them online from Bigdug Heavy Duty Board & Panel Dolly, 154mm Load Width, 80kg SWL their are also different types, not badly priced, but you are so right it does make life easier. Thanks for watching and Keep Safe regards Tony

1:26 you are connecting the extension wall to the existing with wall starter ties. How do you deal with rain water penetration at this junction? i.e where the extension wall meets the existing? What is stopping water getting through the junction?

Hey Rob, this was probably down to the wide angle on the GoPro camera making it look shorter than it really was. We always ensure a structural engineer and building control works out the size and length of the steel to ensure they are up to the job. Safety first! 😉

Hi mate. Great series. I'm learning loads. I have a question at 7:38. The bottom row of bricks appears to be laid straight on top of the steel. Why do you not lay them on a bed of mortar here?

A great project series . Ive thoroughly enjoyed watching all the vids. Why did you decide on using brick/ block piers rather than steel columns?
@BuildWithAE
@BuildWithAE 5 лет назад
Hey Mohammed, we haven't used steel columns as it would've been a huge amount of additional work. It was also specified by the structural engineer. If it was a steel frame building, then we would of gone down that route, but as it is a brick mortar house, brick piers are the best option. 👷👍

@BuildWithAE
@BuildWithAE 4 года назад
Hi MMA Media, You should never lay a steel on to freshly laid padstones, as there's a high risk of movement. We'd always ensure that they were nice and secure beforehand. Hope this helps. All the best, John 😊
