this brings back memories - sheet-rocking and spackling - done some of those few years ago (in our rooms) .. lots of sweat and manual labor but its all worth it especially once you see the end result of all the hard work, and be able to enjoy the finish product (for years to come) .. great series!
How fun, you guys are going to have a great time fixing that place up into a grow room and how blessed you are to do it together. Can't wait to see the finished product.
As soon as you said that you weren't going to finish the ceiling, I knew I was not in the right place. I think the mold is going to be too busy throwing a party on all the exposed framing to worry about a hole in the drywall tape.
What would keep mold/mildew from accumulating in the creases/gaps between the wood 2x4's behind your head 3 ft away? I don't understand the thoroughness in one spot and not the other. Seems pointless. Getting tiny little spots.
That would be a real nice setup for vegging mother plants under T5 lights. Good looking on sharing that info man, anything that allows people to grow more medicine or food in their home is a powerful thing. Namaste
Grow Room - LOL - first thing that comes to mind is the grow rooms around the country but they are not growing veggies and always have to keep an eye out for the DEA and the police. :) LOL Great video. Keep on - thank you so much.
why is there no showing of you building the grow room ? it is already built and all this shows is how to mud and tape basically looks good, is that mold resistant drywall?
Now this is a great video series!! I look forward to seeing how it turns out. Congrats on your new grow room! Do include the price please. Thanks for sharing Luke! Scarlett
How to Grow a Garden with Scarlett Damen We are going to do it 100% for under $500. This will include hydroponic tables, lights, paint, spackle, fertilizer, and all the supplies. A small price to pay for something that I am looking at having pay for itself after 1 winter.
Through down pond liner for the floor, panda film for the walls. Water proof and easy to clean. Hopefully your gunna use MH/HPS for lighting. Dont mess around with those cfl's and stuff waste of time and money. Cool tube your HID's ,you wont be worrying about the plants being cold with those lights. Everything will be about exhaust and A/C cycles. Def get a deece inline fan for exhaust. Take your measurements ,figure out your ideal cfm. Not talkin out my ass either. Been doing what your just starting to do for nearly a decade now on a larger scale. Make the right choices the first time and save yourself a bunch of money in the long run. Wish i had some to tell off the hop. Good luck bro, look forward to your future videos.
It was pretty time consuming when i use to do videos. Plus the laws where changing at the time. I was actually thinking of doing videos again. Maybe in the future
Too bad the previous owner did such a homeowner quality job. Please watch some vids on how to do this. He is not doing it correctly. I suggest Homerenovision on youtube. Jeff is top notch...
You're spending a lot of time on the walls. What about all that exposed wood in the ceiling that you said you're not going to finish? Won't mold grow on it?
sjackson99 It is pressure treated so no, and the key is "exposed" there will be air flow to dry the wood, where as if humidity gets behind a board, there will be no air flow to dry it out leading to mold.
+Livin' Rob not really wasting my time at all. I have done this several times. you have to smooth out the low spots or when you paint over it there will be valleys that create shadows. This is very ugly and can also be a weak spot in the wall.
+MIgardener | Simple Organic Gardening & Sustainable Living You "fill in" the low spots with a trowel. Sheetrock mud has no structural components. A seam is not a weak spot. Also, any shadow from a seam will not effect your plants. This is what I'm talking about. You might know gardening, but you certainly shouldn't be giving advice on something you have zero clue about. I guess you're just wasting others time.
