Remember Isshin also triggers things that trigger on opponents' creatures. For example, Mangara, Revenge of Ravens, Kazuul, Emberwilde Captain, Curse of Opulence, Curse of Disturbance and many more would trigger twice for you too.
I'd definitely love the idea of building this commander with Samurai and the new ones from Neon Dynasty in mind. Probably not the most optimized route, but it just fits so well it's gotta be done
If you want to run extra battle phases, but don't want to miss out because everything is tapped out by the 3rd extra combat, then Augusta Dean of Order might be a great option. She untaps all your attackers. You can retap them if you want, like say for Magda, but the important thing is that you don't need to worry about being tapped out.
@@distranthegloriouslydeform9259 yeah but redundancy and modality, plargg is one of the most underrated cards printed in the past year imo. Nobody talks about that card and it's so damn good
I would include pillowfort, which is closer in synergy to Anthem build Mardu. Tax cards like Ghostly Prison and Nils, Discipline Enforcer are where it’s at. Then add flyers like Archon of Absolution that adds the tax even more while adding Windborn Muse. With all that I tend to run token generators like Sacred Mesa which produces 1/1 flying Pegasuses. So, if you’d like this idea then try it. I like it because of how much anthem strategy gives me so I can build defense in this pillowfort stax ish idea combo. Also, this pillowfort even flirts with politics too with cards like Duelist Heritage AND No Mercy/Sphere of Safety!
Yeah Isshin really has a few lines of play he can do. it's kinda sick. Because not a lot of commanders give you kind of build flexibility. I mean tokens, Defensively (hatebears/pillowfort, hide behind your enchantments, play the politic game), attacking (that 1 is obvious), goading, Eldrazi's. Treasures. Voltron (exalted, or artifacts/Aura's with triggers) Just a lot of ways to build him.
I would include creatures with Reconfigure. Even though they don't have attack triggers, the value they add are huge. You could give Isshin double strike, menace + base power and toughness 5/5, can't lose the game, life link etc.
It was confusing when you were stating that the second ability on Karazikar would only trigger once but then went on to say it would actually trigger twice. So does it trigger twice per creature or once?
both abilities on Karazikar trigger twice here's why. Isshin states that if a triggered ability would trigger by attacking it triggers twice. Karazikar states that "whenever" you attack, you goad a creature an oppentent he is attacking. So that ability twices an additional time because of Isshin. The same is true for the draw effect. When a goaded creature an oppentent controls attacks, because it is attacking an oppentent it triggers twice. So you both draw 2 & lose 2 life.
He was referring to the 2 goaded creatures attacking wouldn't yield 4 effects, it would still just be 2 attackers and 2 triggers as the eye Tyrant doesn't care how many attack just that at least one does. The trigger for attacking will not be double doubled, just doubled once.
Personally, I think Wulfgar's colors best support attack triggers. Plus this isn't a may ability so this could be a double edged sword in small instances.
@@LadyTsunade777 You are completely right, I misread the card entirely, I thought it applied to all attack triggers, clearly I didn't read the last part of the card correctly. All valid points, I still think with green you have ramp, larger buff triggers and wider token producers overall. But it really just depends on your build. Both are incredibly strong, but having access to green gives you a wider net of choices.
Ehh you'd be surprised, white and black add alot of really cool stuff to the strategy that wulfgar can't so himself. I think isshin is stronger personally
Arni metal brow. i dropped an eldrazi devastator turn 5 off colossal plow trigers. turn 6 freed me up to bring in a shard of the night bringer and a 6 six cost goodness totalling 12 mana for the price of 4 mana. Praise both heavens.
Captain Lannery Storm, Swathcutter Giant, Etali, Hellrider, Flamerush Rider with Orrim's Prayer for defense. And then drop An-Zerrin Ruins just to be an a**hole.
I think Tectonic Giant would be a insane card to have, either do two exile top library ( double draw essentially) or do 6 total dmg each opponent or mix. And I think fevor or any haste enabler is no brainer
Need an Etali and a Helm of the Host in the deck. Triple exile of cards you can play for free. How could you NOT put that in there? Ad in extra combat phases so you can hit with Etali again, wooooooboy. Talk about card advantage. Isshin is going to be played SO often now, and he is going to dominate games and gameplay for a while I think.
