0:20 - Warming Up 0:48 - DB Shoulder Press 5:29 - Seated DB Lateral Raise 11:20 - Lying Cable Lateral Raise 14:20 - DB Rear Delt Fly Just to make it clear I wouldn't go to the gym purely to train shoulders! I would group shoulder exercises with 1-2 other muscle groups in the same session.

Dumbbell shoulder press over military press in your opinion?
@yungcobra2044
@yungcobra2044 5 лет назад
Hugo Sebyhed for building muscle dumbbell press is most likely better for the range of motion, but military press is more strength based imo
@MikeThurston
@MikeThurston 5 лет назад
@@gilthanas9787 I use both, and I wouldn't limit yourself to just one. However those with tight/injured shoulders are better off avoiding the barbell.

One of the best instructional vids I have ever seen on any muscle group. Not even A-X gets it that clean in terms of communicating details. This is what I am here for - reflecting on my mistakes and attention to small detail - not fancy editing or the gazzilionth workout routine. This is literally what other ppl pay for and I cant afford. Thanks a lot Mike, I hope we see more of this format, where someone actually makes minor mistakes and you correct them rather than us having to copy your perfect form (and probably failing in the details)

DO NOT COUNT REPS GO TO FAILURE YOUR MUSCLES DON'T KNOW IF YOU ARE LIFTING 20 50 OR 80 KILOS ALL THEY KNOW IS HOW IT FEELS AND LIFT WHAT YOU ARE ABLE TO NOT WHAT YOU THINK YOU CAN, THE SIDE DELT ESPECIALLY IS A SMALL MUSCLE

I always had issues with my shoulders because i couldn't do the exercises properly. I tried a lot of variations, heavy and light weight, low and high reps, different grips, body postures and everything. My dumbbell side lateral raises were always bad, I had no idea how to do them properly not even now. I had some workouts when i felt my mid delts right and i was happy and all but i couldn't replicate it again. Now this video gave me a lot of new informations and i'm going to use everything. I'm really greatful, thank you Mike!

RU-vid can be a great place to learn but sometimes harder to see where you’re going wrong watching advanced trainers who already have perfect form/mind muscle connection. Great idea to get a client in, always found shoulders one of the hardest muscles to grow, tend to feel presses more on one side and in the triceps, and side raises more in my traps, again probably due to the body positioning, just what I needed! Only did shoulders yesterday but actually looking forward to next week 😂👏
@thiagotorresbr
@thiagotorresbr 5 лет назад
You probably feel presses more on one side than the other due to one side being stronger than the other. You gotta keep pushing through by doing dumbbell presses to make the weaker shoulder catch up. If you do barbell presses your brain will make the stronger side continue to work harder by doing neural adaptation. Same goes for every muscle disparity you may have. Regarding lateral raises, many people have the same problem with activation of the traps. To improve that, just remember to retract and depress your shoulders before you begin your set (bring them back {chest out } and down) and keep them like that throughout the entire set.
@danreynolds929
@danreynolds929 5 лет назад
Torres Torres Yeah definitely, I’ve been doing some presses one arm at a time to try and combat it, barbell I just seem to light up my right front delt 😂 I don’t have bad shoulders to look at but don’t feel activation like other muscles, going to try the things mike said and drop the weight down, focus on the right form/positioning!

nice, however I would recommend doing Rear Delts first in a shoulder workout. They are often just tacked on at the end and therefore rushed. Training them first allows you to train them when they are stronger, it also helps pull the shoulder back into alignment. I also do not always do Front Delt specific training as the Front Delt gets activated a lot during Chest Training.
