The Genetic Support Network of Victoria presents vaccine expert, A/Prof. Margie Danchin from the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI) in a webinar for the genetic, undiagnosed and rare disease patients, their families and carers.
A/Prof Margie Danchin will spent the first 30 mins of the session covering:
• COVID-19 vaccine overview including how vaccines are developed and the approval process for all vaccines in Australia
• Strategies for empowering vaccine champions in your community and building trust
• Discussing COVID-19 vaccines with people who have questions or who may have concerns about the COVID-19 vaccine
• When and how to respond to vaccine misinformation
Margie is a consultant pediatrician at the Royal Children's Hospital and an Associate Professor and Clinician Scientist, University of Melbourne and Murdoch Children's Research Institute (MCRI). As leader of the Vaccine Uptake Group, MCRI, her research focuses mainly on vaccine confidence, acceptance and uptake, particularly amongst high risk-groups and in low and middle-income countries. In Australia, she is the chair of the Collaboration on Social Science in Immunisation (COSSI) Group, chair of the Social Science Advisory Board and a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee, National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance (NCIRS) and on the COVID-19 ATAGI working group. She works closely with WHO and Global Vaccine Demand Hub and is part of the Melbourne Children’s Global health Leadership team.
