A subscriber asked me to post a "how to" video on building the motor assemblies I use. This is a step-by-step on all the components, where to get them, and how I put them together.
It's all pretty simple stuff but then like most anything - it's only simple once you've built it. So as always, just ask a question if you need more information

Brilliant! Thank you so much for providing an assembly video. I just got my motor in and going to look for parts to complete it.

here's a Ebay link someone else asked for regarding the motor speed control.www.ebay.com/itm/New-DC-12-50V-30A-PWM-Pulse-Width-Modulation-Motor-Speed-Controller-/261137583670?hash=item3ccd034e36:g:2wsAAOSwUKxYdzhs

Vendor is from China. I purchased 2 and hope they get here in time. Thanks for the link. I still need to find pulleys and a wheel similar to the ones you have that the lures hook into. I'm guessing it is something like a Kobalt 3-in Rubber Swivel Caster from Lowes?

Thank you so much for this! I just got our FCG motor replacement from Monster Guts and I was concerned about putting it together incorrectly- this helped me understand/visualize what needs to go where. Thanks! :)

I bought 4 of them on Ebay. Here's a link to the kind of controller. You can probably do a search and maybe find one cheaper. The main thing you will see is not all of them are encased and you should get one like that. www.ebay.com/itm/New-DC-12-50V-30A-PWM-Pulse-Width-Modulation-Motor-Speed-Controller-/261137583670?hash=item3ccd034e36:g:2wsAAOSwUKxYdzhs

The MG motor comes with a lockwasher. Do you put that on first before the flat bar or just install the bar over the motor shaft directly? I'm also thinking the nut is a locknut, right? Thank you for sharing!

I use the nut that comes with the motor. I think it's brass like the shaft so it won't strip the threads.. You do have to be really careful and not over tighten - I've stripped the threads on 1 motor and had to use lockweld to secure it. Finally - I've done it both ways - with and without the lockwasher. You don't end up with a lot of threads showing once you put the aluminum bar over the threads and I worry about not having enough threads to tighten down on the bar. The motor shaft flairs out as you tighten down plus it's grooved which cuts into the aluminum shaft I put on. I figure that's tight enough and I haven't had any of them come loose yet. Good Luck

Thanks Rick. Yes, the shaft is not long enough but I think the lockwasher, alum bar and locknut will hold. So far, tested for an hour and it didn't loosen. Fingers crossed for big night!

What size are the conduit clamps?

They are 2" clamps. But I've changed to metal clamps since I found on at least one of my setups there was enough side torque that the motor turned a bit and when I went to tighten down the plastic clamp it broke. So I now use only metal ones - you can get them at any big-box store.

The aluminum bar is $6 bucks, swivels come in a package so you can get bulk, you don't buy swivels singley and not at $2 each. LOL, that would make yours 2 x's however many you applied here. Then there's shipping and tax, clamps a few bucks each unless you can find some plastic ones.

I'm not sure what you are asking about - - the swivels or pulleys that I use I did get on Amazon and could buy them 1 each. I think I bought 12 to start with. But for my spider prop which this motor is used for, I don't use swivels or pulleys at all. All the cords run through small eye screws. I thought originally I needed to use pulleys but found they were not necessary. Regarding overall cost - really my main point of all the props I've built is the idea of using only 1 motor to move multiple props versus 1 motor for each prop. As I posted last year, I ended up with 14 moving things off this 1 motor.
