I am following you for 4 years now. You were great , 🎉 for the 100k. Videos like Power Automate Expressions 1,2,3,4 , Power Apps Patch etc. 1-2 years ago been wonderful ❤. Back then, I even wanted to pay for a subscription, but then it was not available. In the last year i have to admit , that I don't see the same deepness you had in the past. The "New" stuff , is not more deepness. I don't need to re-learn issues, or to get full applications - so I don't feel subscription is right for me though I really wanted it in the past. The implementation of this new table feature has been long-awaited. Its inclusion is a significant and positive addition. I followed the process of creating your “Full CRUD” custom gallery table to program this feature accordingly. The introduction of this new table control is a game-changer. From now on, every application that I develop will benefit from its incorporation.
Those modern controls getting more and more functional. 2 weeks ago I could set the ValidationState If(locSubmit And IsBlank(Self.Value), "Error","None") when Patch my fields to DV. Have not play with Modern Form. Thanks for showcasing it.
Thank you for this video, and using dataverse as the data source this time! I finally got IT to work with me and give premium access to dataverse. I am working on my data model right now. I will build a model driven app, AND a modern canvas app. This is going to help me tremendously.

@@alexandrubirsan7608 Its a control that works best with Dataverse and supports collections. It also works with SharePoint but will not yield best results. Its a preview control, so lets give it time.

The only issue I had is data table is not able to display the SP List column value which is a choice column. ( looks it still doesn’t support complex data type) , have you faced it! In your video, you connected to dataverse table. So I have revert back to gallery view with tiles .

I request you to kindly explain on how can we create the power app to automate the Tool Intake process, where it involves the approvals from the business team and after that Notification will be sent to the requestor, Business teams members and when the request is approved it must create a feature in Jira for the development of the tool, after its all done it must enter our Tool Intake software as well. Hi Reza, great video as always, love that you are helping with all the new modern features. i am having an issue with filter at 21.07 time of your video and getting an error saying "incompatible types for comparison. these types cannot be compared: record , text. the field i am using is choice in sharepoint list. any advice on how to fix that?
i found a solution. you need .Value for what ever the choice column is. in my case it looks like this: Filter('Project - Tracking PA', 'Team'.Value = TabList1.Selected.Value)

I can't use that table control like, since only normal columns are supported😅- some of the stuff I work with have relationships [lookup columns] and showing those columns, editing, etc. doesn't work. Still, fascinating video. Thanks for for the great explanation.

Another awesome video Reza!! Question, I noticed the Table control does not seem to support column sorting (yet), have you ever got column sorting working with the Modern Table control?
I am quite new to PowerApps and have zero coding experience. Even so, I am really excited by the possibilities of what could be for those I support. One question that did not seem obvious to me. As the app admin, I'm guessing you see everyone's submissions. What about the end user requesting time off? What do they see after they submit their request? Do they see only their submissions, or do they see everyone's submissions? Sorry if this should have been obvious but I didn't catch it.
SharePoint as a data source offers less flexibility with regards to security. You could add filters in app to show user only their records or use flow to set item permissions. I have done some videos showcasing how to do that.

Hi Reza, great vid as usual. I notice on the table control headers that there is a "Filter By" option (below the sorting options) which is disabled/greyed-out any news on when/whether this will be available?
This is a great tutorial, but I'm having a problem with a calculated field in SharePoint. I have a Summary Date field, which is a Date and Time field. The calculated field is Days Past. When I use either =Today() - [Summary Date] or =DATEDIF([Summary Date], TODAY(), "d"), I get several decimal places (eg., 37.00000000) showing in the PowerApps table instead of the simple count of days expected. In Sharepoint I choose the output as a number with 0 decimal places. I don't see any way to modify the table control to round this to a whole number. Any suggestions, from anyone would be appreciated.
Workaround was to create a text column DateText in SP and concatenate an empty string thus =[Summary Date] & "", something I don't particularly like doing because it is confusing to anyone having to follow up your work.

Best option would be to secure the data at data source level. Dataverse offers row level security. Would recommend checking documentation on Dataverse security.

Hi Reza. Great stuff, again. Really enjoying the modern controls. Takes some getting used to. I am using the Table (Dataverse only) control to display a dataverse table that has a lookup column, "ProductCategory" and the column only displays [object Object] in the Table control. My understanding is that this is because the lookup field, "ProductCategory", data type is table. Any workarounds for that issue? Thanks.
Lookup is a limitation for now. You could build a collection where you grab the name of the lookup and place as text for now but I would recommend to wait until Table supports it out of the box.

Hi, Reza! Nice video!!! Could you help with something? I have a modern table but the Sorting of the table doesnt work. It comes as a table function but doesnt work here. The property "EnableSorting" is "yes" but when i click on the table's header to reorganize the data by smallest to largest or vice versa, it does not filter. Does it happen with you as well?
Modern controls are nice, however are still missing a lot of features and attributes the classic controls have..which I’m assuming will eventually be available, given it’s still “experimental “. Example, text input does not have a number format option, and color, font size etc for many of the controls can’t be modified. Plenty of other small details as well, such as the ability to reference Self.Text for a button.
Modern controls are in Preview! Color and font size have been added to most controls now in the latest app authoring version. A new spin button control is added (latest authoring version) which is ideal for numbers.
Thank you for an excellent presentation. I have created an App using the modern text controls and the browser autofill feature intermittently suggests values for the fields. Is this something that you have come across and is there anyway to disable this other than turning off 'autofill' in the browser?

Thanks Reza, looks like for some reason the person datacard dropdown was not populating the Fields property. After I clicked Edit and Add Field, got the choose a field (claims, Department, email, DisplayName). After choosing DisplayName the dropdown works.

At 10:40 you are showing the drag & drop of data cards on the form. Mine absolutely will not do that. I wanted to re-order my fields, and when I did it made them all the full width of the container and listed them down the left edge of the form. I turn off 'Width Fit' and it makes them the standard size again, but they're all basically in column 1. Is there no way to put the data cards back into rows without having to Set the X & Y value for each data card? Strange that we had drag/drop when this video came out but now it's gone.
Great video! Question: I followed your tutorial to a T and can't get new entry submissions to display in the table. I think it's because the default value of the "Approval Status" column is not set to Pending, Approved, or Rejected. It's just blank. How can I fix this?

@@RezaDorrani Thanks. As I had not yet worked with Data Tables, only MS Lists, I didn't know where to find the table for this app. I found it and just had to change the default choice for that column to "Pending." It works like a charm now.
Hi Reza, can we set up a maximum size for the responsive app? While the responsive app looks okay on most screen sizes, the gaps between the controls are too large to look nice on 4K monitors. I wonder if you ever played a responsive app on a 27 inch 4K monitor, the app looks so ugly.
Can I still show two fields in a modern combobox? I can't seem to find that. Also, are the modern comboboxes incapable of showing a calculated column? It's just empty if I put that first and it works fine with the classic ones.
Currently that is not supported. Please note modern controls are preview. So best to continue using classic for such scenarios until feature parity comes in.
Using modern date picker controls and SQL Server data, I keep getting an error message : Expected value '2024-03-18T00:00:00' to be a valid RFC 3339 'full-date' or 'date-time' format. Allowed ISO 8601 formats(s): 'YYYY-MM-DD', 'YYYY-MM-DDT00:00:00' . Any idea what that is? Is that an SQL issue or a Powerapps issue, and how would one go around this?
I have not done any work with sql server hence not sure about this. Check documentation of modern controls to see if there is any limitation with sql called out.
Hi Reza, great video. I just created an app using the latest version and 'modern controls', looks super cool. But after saving it I get an error when trying to open the file. I can run it but not edit. Could this be due to the version and do you have an idea how to fix it? Thx
Might be with authoring version. Best to use recommend version. One option would be to revert to a previous version of the Power App from versions page.
Hi Reza, If I click on the EDIT button it Navigates to Form Screen and displaying the previously selected items even though there is no current selection in the Table. Could you please provide a solution for this. Due to this the Visible property of the EDIT button is still visible because the PowerApp holds the last selected item.

Hello Reza, I have watched this video several times and appreciate your instruction. I do have a question though. I have created a similar app for employee absences based on this video. My issue is that the data card values for Status and Employee Name do not fill in when clicking on the Edit button. What happens is the app does navigate to the Edit screen and most of the selected row values are pulled in from the record. However, for Status and Employee Name they do not populate and the default message appears ("Find Items"). Since they are derived from lookup columns, is there another step that needs to be built into the app?

Hey Reza, thanks for your super helpful video! I have encountered a problem will following your video. My approval status is named Status in FieldDisplayName (named Status1 in controls), and when I followed your code for the tab list (Choices('Travel Requests'.'Status')), it didnt work. I assume its a problem with the Status name, as Travel Request was highlighted in colour, but I didnt know what exactly I should do? I have tried both 'Status' and 'Status1', or 'Travel Requests' and 'Table1', but none of them have worked.

Hi Reza, when I am trying to use the Table control for a table with lookup columns, the cell value is not being displayed for the column of Lookup type, It is showing [Object Object]. Do we have any solution for this? Thanks in advance.
Lookups and choice column values are not displayed in Table today. The fix for the same will be coming soon. Please note modern controls are a preview feature.
Great video. Q:Does changing the version to the latest make it more unstable? I've made a couple of apps following your technique, however I'm getting error messages when I attempt to load them for edit later. The apps work fine in monitor & play, but I can't edit. It's odd.
1 - Latest authoring version is not the most stable version. There is always a recommended version. 2 - modern controls are in preview 3 - within 2 weeks the version shown in video would become the latest 4 - I did not run into any issues related to editing in this version
