I have just started with Power Apps a week ago and out of all the RU-vid videos, you have the most detailed, and most logical guides so far. Thank you so much for these videos! I have only watched two 30min videos and I have learned so much in such a short time! Detailed, compact, digestible, and easy to follow tutorials WITH AMAZING EXAMPLES. Thank you so much for these videos, Reza! I've subscribed and can't wait to learn more!
This is one of the best and easy understandable videos of Dataverse and create app with Dataverse data. Thank you very much!!! Seems sooooo simple.. :)
Walking through it again with Powerapps open on the other screen. 😊 Do you have a recommendation which video I should watch next to work on aesthetics when I get it built?
@RezaDorrani thank you. I have a query please. I set my tables up with unique identification fields (Primary keys). When I am pulling the data into the Dropdowns, it is showing the ID field instead of the project name. Can I display the name field, or must I delete the ID field. I know you mentioned that Dataverse/power apps creates the master and foreign and builds the relationship itself, but when I did this sort of thing many years ago in access, I could create a relationship on the key field and display another field in the related table.
@@GPZ_Biker You can always change whats displayed in dropdowns and combo boxes. Check properties on the right. I would recommend posting your query with screenshots as well - powerusers.microsoft.com
This tutorial allows you to understand in a simple and detailed way how Dataverse works in relation to the main objects used for a Power Apps application. It offers a true performance. Thank you very much
Best Use of Power App Concept which i have used in My live projects in this Sort video . DataVerse, Creating Table ,Relationship , Using Canvas app , Form, Gallery, Patch ,Relate(function)
Was looking to refresh my skills on relationships in Dataverse to help me in an upcoming project so came searching in your channel and this video has done just that. Thanks again sharing.
This is the most excellent tutorial I have found, and I have searched for a tutorial for months already! Thanks for this guide; it helped me a lot! You save a soul! I´m genuinely thankful to found you!
Wow. What i have to said about this. It's just amazing. It's loud and clear. Easy to follow. I'm not afraid anymore about Dataverse...I' still afraid about the cost of the licencing that is why I prefer to use Dataverse for teams for the moment. Thanks a lot reza
Reza, once again, this video has given me lots of new ideas for future apps I'm gonna develop for my company using Dataverse for Teams. I can't thank you enough for your great work and contribution.
Thanks Reza! The video was very clear and helpful! Hopefully more tutorials on Dataverse. I get stuck with the Model-driven apps. Are you going to make video tutorials about Model-driven apps in the future? Thanks again.
Hi Reza, great video as always. Having read alot of the MS docs and watch many videos in prep for moving from sharepoint to DV, this was by far the most helplful, clear and easy to follow. I now need to go back to my ERD and remove most of the autonumber id columns (for use as FK). Keep the videos coming!
Reza, you are fantastic! I have learned so much by watching and mimicking your videos that I am gaining more confidence in creating a usable app for my organization, daily. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise in such a user-friendly way.
Thank You Reza!!! This video is very helpful. Especially the relationships between the dataverse tables and the Relate and Unrelate functions. I request you to please upload videos on the Power Automate Desktop tool. You are the best!!! 💯👌
Thanks Pranav. I have not received a lot of requests for PAD videos. If I do get a lot of requests, I will plan videos on PAD. I have 1 introductory video on PAD - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-z19CAWq1tK8.html
I was struggling understanding how we can work with form its amazing video i will work on it but again i would like to know how we can work with functions
@@RezaDorrani I want to create a approval system with dataverse table, for example in your video, after the user has created a project his or her manager should give the okey. Is it easy or not?
@@juandavila4035 Easy! Similar to all my approval videos :) I did multiple videos with flows and DV4T approvals. It may help. Check ru-vid.com/group/PLTyFh-qDKAiFG_FxWr-ACSmP39_84IUWl
Thanks Mr Reza, I was literally waiting for this kind of guide... Thanks a ton!!!.. Well can you please make more videos on Dataverse and Power Automate, (Business process flow, and RPA)..
@@RezaDorrani The formula Items = Filter(Users, 'User Synced' = Yes ) applied to ComboBox1 gives me an error: Issue Incompatible type for comparison. Thes types can't be compared: OptionSetValue(User Synced(Users)), Error. Can you give me a suggestion? Thank you. Michele.
Every time I watch one of your videos, I'm very thankful for how clear and detailed you present the information in such bite-sized chunks that can be easily digested by my brain. Thank you for that. I'm going to be migrating our company from SharePoint to Dataverse and I need some graphics that relay the benefits, which, in turn, justify the added expense for licensing. Is there any way to get the introductory 5 minutess of this video in slideshow/presentation format so I can present it with my other slides that are specific to our company needs? I would just show your video, but I'm positive that it will be difficult to keep people engaged for 5 min, and I just need the graphics so they have it on paper.
Please disregard my request, Reza. I went to your blog and found the presentation link in it. I absolutely love the way you openly share your knowledge with the rest of the world!!!
I have started with Dataverse just now and this is the first video I watched. While it does show some hands on details , I was expecting to see how to first connect dataverse with my applications. Then it would have made more sense to add data manualy which by the way is not practical. You will most likely use some app to collect data and store it in dataverse
Thank you Raza. Your video is very useful, and helps me to learn different platforms much easier. While working in sharepoint and Power Apps the value for ID column upon add, edit and delete operations, we have to add more logics. Also at the SP list side the value for ID column was in incremental order so there was no way for me to reset before going live(after development). In dataverse after watching your video, I get a feeling its not a problem. I also noticed the update operations are very quick.
@@RezaDorrani I do have an question.. i created a table(say Masterdata) in Dataverse the values in it gets refreshed daily from a sharepoint list and I do have another table(transactiondata) in Dataverse I am having one column(proj name) where it uses values from master table. The problem is every day when I refresh the data from sharepoint list into my master table(masterdata), the data existing column(project name)in transaction data table gets whipped out. Have you encountered this situation? If yes could you pls share some information how to mitigate it. Thank you
Hi! Thank you for sharing the info by being so clear! I have a question: I work in a company where they want to use Power Apps to keep track of each worker's activities throughout the day, meaning that each worker needs to access to Power Apps to register their working day. Is it possible to store it in Dataverse? Do we need to buy licenses for each account?🤔🤔
Thanks a lot Reza! I always learn something new & tricky from your videos. Your videos are always very helpful and are the reason that I have been able to develop a working app for my team. I have almost similar scenario for which I am developing an App but looks like I am missing something and not able to move forward. Here is the scenario : We have #50 customers and #25 Tools and multiple implementation state for each tool. For each customer we want to know the status of every tool. Example, For customer A, Tool-1 is implemented but Tool-2 is in POC state whereas Tool-3 - POC Cancelled. So this way, For each customer, we will have #25 entries (#25 tools) and every entry will capture implementation status of respective tool for that customer. That means, total 50*25 = 1250 entries which will be stored in either sharepoint or excel or dataverse for teams. I want to build a Power App using which I can retrieve data from datasource-->Filter data for each customer so on a single page I am able to see tool name & implementation status of all the tools for Customer A ---> Edit those records and then save back to the datasource. Your guidance on this will be helpful. Thanks, Ashish.
@@RezaDorrani : Thanks for the response! Actually the issue is - I am unable to fetch all records for a customer in editable. I used table but that fetches all the records and if I try to filter it based on customer then nothing shows.
Hi Reza, great tutorial as always!! I am using SQL tables as source with PK and FK constraints set. When I create forms, only the source table columns are showing up but not the Lookup columns associated with Foreign keys from other table. Appreciate your suggestions
I have done no work with sql hence not sure. I recommend checking or posting your query on forums in case someone has done something similar powerusers.microsoft.com
@@RezaDorrani thanks for the swift reply. Can you please recommend me your tutorial where we go over the patching aspect as well? I’m watching a few rn :)
Hey Reza, love this one. Why don't you follow up with your version of "The new Microsoft Planner" App using modern controls and the key features of the upcoming The new Microsoft Planner?
thanks, Reza how do I deploy the flow with premium connectors in power automate when a client wants to be running the flow in their systems, what is a suitable license I should prefer/suggest to them (client)... can you please explain it
Hello Reza. I always watch videos well and click like to your RU-vid in Korea. I have a question. How do I insert an image into the PowerApp dataverse? I've searched and watched a lot of RU-vid videos, but I'm struggling because I haven't solved them yet. Please answer
Thank You so much for watching and liking the videos. I have not done a video on Image in Dataverse. I will recommend checking on the forums at powerusers.microsoft.com/ in case someone has done something similar.
Hey Rez- great video. Throughly enjoyed it. Was wondering though: how did you insert the icons into the respective galleries. I really like that look and was wondering.
Thank you Reza. One question about security. Which Dataverse feature should I use to achieve the same effect as breaking inheritance by row in SharePoint and choosing which people or groups can access that row?
Look into Ownership of records. There are various security constructs in Dataverse. This is a good video -> ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HHBoTNMZtsQ.html
@@powermykola :) Video is getting a good response. I will plan for a security model video on Dataverse but I have plenty of other video ideas lined up!
Thank you for your video, very informative. But I have one question: I have created an app connected to a database table but when I share this app, it is requiring a premium powerapps license from my users, all my user need a premium license?
Question: I'm getting crazy: How did you get the green line header that appears at the top of the screen titled "Project Tracker". Some times you moved extremely fast despite I am slowing the speed of the video to 1/2x. How did you design that line pls?
That is a simple label control that I added to give a heading effect. Label control that has its Fill property set to the green color. Video was focused on relationships & connecting Tables, hence did not focus much on UI/UX
@@RezaDorrani Mega thanks for the prompt response. Now, I got what you are doing. BTW, your videos are the most serious examples. Others are a mere joke. You reveal things that not easy to find in the documentations. Thanks our Reza.
@@SaidElnaffar No no, others also have very good content. I do watch some of the other creators and they are awesome. I can speak for my content only :) I try my best to put out real world scenarios, cover unique topics, share tips & tricks, new features & more!
Thank you for this awesome video! I do have a question, for the N:N relationship where you assigned multiple team members, where is the data being written to? I have done something similar but I can't find the supporting data for up. Thanks
Thanks Reza. I really appreciate this video and all the other one I saw. I have just a question about the user table you mention that I didn't find in my dataverse. It is in italian but there are two table: "Utenti (users)" and "Utenti Microsoft (Microsoft users)". When I show their content I didn't find my organization identities. I have found a virtual table called "Microsoft Entra Identity" and it shows the accounts in my domain so I've thinked to use it but it is not allowed to create on that table a many-to-many relationship. I really appreciate a your feedback and again thanks for your job.
Its not a presentation 😊 It is a Power App that has screens which look like a presentation. Anyways, here is the inspiration ppt link rezadorrani.com/index.php/2021/09/11/introduction-to-microsoft-dataverse/
Hi Reza, another great video. I have watched and learnt from many of your videos, and implemented what I have learnt. The next step on my journey is into Dataverse for Teams. I am looking to create an asset management tool where I can assign users to particular assets, such as laptops or phones. However, I need to be able to record the assignment history. So I can check who has been assigned a particular device since it's purchase, or what devices have been assigned a particular user since they joined us. Do you have a video or guidance on how to create such a history log table in Dataverse? Thanks... and looking forward to the next videos :)
Curious - after presenter reassigns project clients, the projects still show client Contoso for Lab Admin 1 (@9:19 in) but Techno, the reassigned client, for Reza Dorrani (@9:31 in).
@@RezaDorrani thanks! Very few information about it.. i found in an article that didn't had the word PowerApps nor Dataverse anywhere hahaha appreciated your guidance! Thanks so much!
Amazing job. Are we still not able to save a multi selection comb box that's also a lookup column? It works in SharePoint, but not in Data verse. Thank you very much.
@@RezaDorrani Thanks again for your reply. This answer below was from 2020.(from David Jennaway) "No, this is not possible in CDS. There are a few exceptions for the built-in email and appointment entities, which allow multiple lookup values for certain fields (e.g. 'to', 'requiredattendees'), but you can't do this for custom fields or entities. The main workaround is to create a N:N relationship between the entities, rather than a lookup (which is an N:1 relationship)"
@@designmycity I would guess that there would be an option. Not sure since I have not tried this out. I will recommend checking on the forums at powerusers.microsoft.com/
HI thanks for this video, it is superb! One question - I want to create a distinct list of users who have been assigned to a project. They may or may not be assigned to a task, but are still a part of the project team. Using that, how can I also create a list of people who haven't been assigned to any projects... Thanks
Thanks! I do not have a video reference on this and would have to try it out to provide guidance. I will recommend checking or posting your query on forums in case someone has done something similar powerusers.microsoft.com
Hi Reza, I'm a beginner and wanted to try this out myself. But I can't seem to use the trial version without work account. Is there anyway to practice this? Please help!!:(
Hi Reza, Thanks for valuable information on Dataverse and it’s relationship, I have one question if I developed powerapps with “Per User Plan” license and use Dataverse or premium connector, so after publishing on Production can business user who have office E1, E3 or E5 license holder can access and perform data modification activities?
Thanks Reza for the informative video!! I had a query - There is a transformation which I have undertaken in Power BI and Power Query and have published it on Power BI web - Fabric. Ideally since its on Microsoft platform data should be able to flow to Power App. However when trying to fetch data through dataverse in Power Apps, I am not able to see the data set published on Power BI. Will you be able to help with a solution. Many Thanks!
I have not come across the mentioned issue and hence not sure what the fix for your issue is. I recommend posting your issue with screenshots on the forums at powerusers.microsoft.com
Hi Reza, Again, great video. I am working on an app where i can relate the same tables, but instead of adding 'tasks' i need to add weekly allocated hours for each employee on projects. So each employee can see and edit their allocations for each project 12 weeks ahead or something. Do you have a video for building something like this or an idea how this could be build in a smart way? BR Jacob
I just watched this tutorial, and in 2024, the interface is a bit different, and sometimes I got lost following along. Could you, Sir Reza, recreate or make another video tutorial with a similar project using Dataverse, but updated for 2024? It would make it easier for new learners like me to understand PowerApps and Dataverse. Thank you. :)
Most of it is accurate. Interface is somewhat updated. Every 6 months I ask subscribers for topic suggestions on Community Tab of my channel. Most voted idea gets added to my backlog. Make sure to post this idea whenever I post the next topic suggestion post.
Not sure what I am missing or if I am using too much Excel brain. I would like to create a lookup eg from a product table to an order table. When I select the product it will populate the order. How do I get it to bring over the price from the product table though? I can calculate the totals in the order using a calculated column, but I cannot seem to "call" the price value based on the product selected as an additional column.
Thanks for making such a Nice Video on Dataverse @Reza Dorrani. Its really helpfu,. I have a doubt/requirement: What if I need to upload More than 5000 records to my Dataverse using canvas app instead of importing excel data in dataverse. Is that possible?
