I love the video, has helped me so much. I always struggle with the apex, just placing the product and allowing it to self level is much easier than fighting with the brush to create and shape it. Thankyou 🥰❤

Great video! How long does it take for Baby Pink Extreme to self level? It looks like you could potentially have it self level on multiple nails at once before curing?
@darcyolin
@darcyolin 2 года назад
It can depend greatly on the temperature of the room you are in and the client's hand. I find it can be applied to several nails at once and allow for self leveling, just keep an eye on that first one before moving on to too many nails, just in case it is warmer and moving more quickly. You can always flash cure the nails that have self-leveled the way you want them to, as you move on.

Great video. :-) Ok then, so if we are using the egg as a demo of the apex then the more functional apex is heading more towards the European style, rather than the classic American apex, yeah? Is this what this is saying. I thought it was just a matter of choice of looks. But if you go off the egg then that apex is definitely in the back third. Have I got this right please? Darcy, your frosting technique is beautiful - something to aspire to❤
@lynnrahl3352
@lynnrahl3352 2 года назад
I was thinking the same. So the back third (European) to start and in 2-3 weeks it will be over the stress area which is where I was always taught to place it in the first place! I wish someone would actually do a side by side of both apexes and the benefits of each.
@viviennetooms6379
@viviennetooms6379 2 года назад
@@lynnrahl3352 Yes I would like a side view of both and the pros and cons of both as I am sure there are some. I am sure it is just not down to appearance choice.
@darcyolin
@darcyolin 2 года назад
Hi Vivienne, Great question! It Can be a matter of choice, but there are definite benefits to placing the apex further back. Having the apex further back will provide more support over the stress area as the nail grows out and becomes out of balance, reducing the likelihood of cracks or breaks in the stress area. If the apex is placed over the stress area as the nails are being created, then once the nail starts to grow out, the bulk of the product will be out on the free edge, with little remaining on the nail plate to provide support of the extension. I hope this helps. Thank you so much for your kind comment, for watching and for your great question.
@darcyolin
@darcyolin 2 года назад
@@lynnrahl3352 I was taught the same method of placing the Apex over the stress area when I was in nail school too. As we learn more about structure and with clients going more like 3-4 weeks between maintenance, instead of the original 2 week recommendations, placing the apex further back will help to prevent lifting, cracking or breaking if the apex is supporting the stress area when there is new growth. If the apex is placed over the stress are to begin with and the longer a client goes between services, the less product there is on the nail plate and the more product there is out over the free edge, creating quite an imbalance that could possibly lead to cracking, a broken nail and possibly lifting in the stress are of the nail. I hope this helps, please let me know if you have any questions. 💞

@@darcyolin Thank you for the feedback Darcy. I love this channel. I've already learned so much! I was also surprised at the little amount of product you used and the nail was perfect. I definitely need to work on my technique!

Why builder as the base then extreme?
@darcyolin
@darcyolin 2 года назад
Great question Amanda! I like to use Builder Gel to create new extensions for a couple of reasons. First, builder is one of our strongest gels, so it creates a very durable extension and also it does not move, so I can easily create all 5 extension on one hand and know that the gel is going to stay exactly where I put it until I am ready to cure. Using the Slip Layer & Dollop Technique with Extreme Gel next allows me to build the Apex and Stress area and Extreme's self-leveling ability smooths out the entire surface of the nail, reducing my need to file. I hope this helps!
