You have such a good voice! It’s so calm and friendly/bubbly at the same time. As far as skin care I just use dr. Bronner’s soap and that’s it. I used to use rosehip oil for moisturizer and I really need to get back on it because soap and the indoor heaters/dry winter air really dries my skin out.

I sometimes use olive oil mixed with essential oils on my skin. Castile soap is so gentle on the skin too!

If you really liked this check out the episode of Explained on Netflix "Skin" for a great deep dive into this topic I started drinking Mt dew at age 6 and until 30yo I averaged 6 to 24 cans a day! Look up Mt dew mouth, I've got it bad, and you'll kick the habit quick! Also, just incase you aren't aware, menopause or a hysterectomy often actually worsens your skin due to the changes in hormones. It's been 8yrs since mine and I've never been on supplementary hormones and my face is covered in huge red angry spots. Currently moving to a soap free skincare and haircare routine bc I'm worried about my microbiome and so far my skins already happier and healing faster. And a little tip I figured out, use an anti aging cream containing retenol for scar reduction and prevention instead of a scar cream.

Dead or alive? In that case I would choose my maternal grandmother. She’s been gone now for 15 years and I miss her. She was always like a best girlfriend to me. By the way she was a devout user of ponds cold cream and had the most flawless skin I’ve ever seen.

Green Jade, rose jade, purple jade, yellow jade.... does it really matter?! I wanna know lol . . . . . . . I would love to massage my lymph nodes (I have lymphedema) with a roller, I can't do it easily with just my fingers as my physiotherapist does it twice a week. I was a tween in the late 70s lol Our magazine, was Young Miss (which is waaaaaay different now!) Ever tried Noxema? That was my anti acne face wash (cleaned my lungs pretty well too lol) My skin was and still is extremely greasy (not just oily) from too much estrogen. I used a shampoo called FOHO - for oily hair only. These days I may once in a blue moon (we've had a few this year lol) use CeraVe. Problem is, even though it is still a moisturizer, my face is super dry ( and very smooth) for about 5 minutes, then the oil factory hits high gear. I can actually feel the pores fill with oil. Then I get zits for a while until the oil 'settles' and is simply gross. Spa- Guy would be Richard Armitage!!!!!! Gals would be 4 of my internet besties

Apparently each stone has different traits. Rose quartz stays very cool without the need for extra refrigeration. It is said to promote friendship, love, and healing if you believe that sort of thing. Generally speaking though, massage is good no matter what you use. Until I was sent the roller, I just used my palms to massage my face.

A spa day with Doris Day. I loved watching her movies when I was a tween.she was beautiful, glamorous in a very unpretentious way. Very sincere and down to earth. And a total girly girl.

Too many for the spa, but maybe a dinner party instead.😬 Historically: Abraham Lincoln; John Steinbeck; All of Henry VII’s Wives; and George W. Bush. Personally: My younger sister, Cassie, who passed away unexpectedly in February; My two nieces, so they could see their mother one more time; My two daughters after they have grown; And Patrick Swayze, my sister’s favorite actor; Christopher Walken; and Bill Murray.

True about the over consumption of sugar supposedly the average person eats five pounds of sugar a year. There's a book called, "Salt" by Mark Kurlansky lots of interesting history and facts like we actually consume more salt now then what people did before refrigeration. When people were canning, pickling, salt curing, smoke curing there own food. Sure it might require salt and sugar but people were not consuming 50-60%sodium per serving like in a package of instant Raman noodles or 91% sodium like some frozen prepared meals with the addition of adding ketchup or hot sauce. The book "Quackery: Brief History of the Worst Ways to Cure Everything" by Lydia Kang and Nate Pedersen really explores the blunders in our quest for perfect health, beauty and the fountain of youth. Like using mercury to cure syphilis or thinking cocaine was a,cure-all wonder drug to lead based makeup.

Yes! "Quackery: Brief History of the Worst Ways to Cure Everything" is such a fun read. I'll have to take a look at "Salt". Thank you for the recommendations!

when i was about 10 in the mid 80s i found my great grandmother's book of home remedies from 1908 and proceeded to apply to my face a recommended solution of diluted AMMONIA for a while. didn't really do anything but my grandmother quickly put a stop to it when she found out 😄

I'd go with Audrey Hepburn. What are your thoughts on Vit. E oil as a skin care product? Not the syrupy gooey stuff.
@OldFashionedAF
@OldFashionedAF 3 года назад
Great choice! She'd be pretty high on my list too. Vitamin E has antioxidants, so I'd say it's probably pretty good for your skin. The MixEasy skin serum I'm using is a Vitamin C serum, which has similar properties to vitamin E.
@avnostlga
@avnostlga 3 года назад
@@OldFashionedAF I've never thought Vit. C. Good to know. I'm a simple man. Castile soap, an apricot scrub every now and then, and Vit. E. Anecdotally speaking, I've got pretty amazing skin for a 50yr old smoker who used to be a sun worshiper. Nothing as nice as yours, but I do get mistaken for 30. Love the channels you and your husband produce.

You did such a lovely job on all this research! My only advice would be to ditch the makeup wipe, there are awesome balms that do a much better job without the waste that makeup wipes create. If you have a moment, check out Hyram here on RU-vid as he explains it so much better than I can.
