We had so much fun building & flying this plane! First plane we ever built with my daughter. I can't believe it's still flying after all the punishment it received in our inexperienced hands! I built many flying models starting way back in the late 1960's. Really sorry that so many of the kits are no longer being made. Also the wonderful cox 1/2 A engines are gone. Did free flight, control line and finally RC. These FT models are pure genius and so innovative!

Pro tip: for nose weight if scratch building, use a AAA battery and a AA battery. Then it flies perfectly.

Just built 2 of these with Black foam board from the dollar store. It flies great. Great first build. Only uses one sheet and bbq stick. Thanks for the easy building planes.

I'm currently using Sparrows for my FT STEM class. This is going to be SO much better because my students are learning about control surfaces, but the Sparrow has a V-tail. I'm so glad to have a standard tail chuck glider that is truly simple to build! Now if only there were international shipping to Taiwan...

I did an rc conversion of this and I am not disappointed, I got the weight really low and made the wing a parasol wing for added stability as I plan to high start it

from the looks of it, I think an RC version of this is the FT Tiny Trainer. A good little plane, and it comes with two separate wings, one is polyhedral as this one is, and the other has dihedral, and is intended for ailerons.

I've received the great kit and made one plane now and it's great. Only question I have is about placement of the weight. It's very sensitive to that (as expected) and moving it while fastening it tightly enough to survive landings is difficult. Instead of attaching it as you have, I have velcroed the weight to the inside of the hatch, so you just open it and adjust easily. It requires of mod of the inside doubles, but that's easy. So far so good and it makes micro adjustments easy. Any reason not to do this?

just finished some test flights, I think I got the weights dialed in. I used small magnets from the dollar tree and wrapped them in a strip of paper. perfect fit and no need for glue plus its super easy to adjust! the only thing is I only had small rubber bands and one snapped during the testing. is there any size recommendation for the rubber bands?

Different types of foam have different properties, you will want to use a foam that is stiff but also strong. The Dollar Tree stores sell a foam board with paper backing on both sides, that is basically what Flite Test uses. Go buy some of that, and download the plans when they are released, and you will get a good plane.
