Btw, It was interesting to watch your setup for hyperlapse. I believe the significant drawback of this type of rig is the rather lengthy adjustment time (especially for me). I'm still working on designing a rig that combines stability, precision and easy adjustment for shooting, but I haven't yet found the right balance
@MatthewVandeputte
@MatthewVandeputte 10 месяцев назад
which adjustment time do you mean, between shots? I've nailed it down to a only a few seconds now, which is faster than a standard tripod + ballhead. Not as fast as handheld, but then you don't get long exposures ofcourse. I'll have another video on the channel soon showing the complete process of location scouting + setting up + shooting.

@@MatthewVandeputte with magic lantern I set interval 9-10 sec and had 4 sec shutter speed. It means I had 5-6 sec time gap for adjustment with 3d head (ball head is a nightmare for me). But now with Canon R (without magic lantern) I use 12-13 sec interval on external intervalometer, because without magic lantern I can't adjast my camera so fast as I did before

@@MatthewVandeputte sorry, didn't get your question before and wrote a long story about adjustment time between shots. But I mean time for set up rig before you start shooting. Sorry for my english 😁

Amazing set up! Is the Manfrotto "gimbal" tge only one with that feature? Using the handle as a remote? does the DJI have it? cheers!

Hi, great video! I am now thinking about how this rig would do if you used DJI Ronin Rs3/4 with a DJI RavenEye tracking system and a tablet or phone. Theoretically you could lock on your subject and move freely without needing to set your composition manually with a remote. I have never shot a hyperlapse so forgive me if my fantasies are lacking practicality.

Good setup! I'm thinking to buy the monitor, in camera display is very small

Definitely worth it, there are cheaper models too which makes things very accessible

Nice setup! What's your shutter speed to combat the gimbal drift? Currently I go with 0.5s, which is fine for motion blur when capturing people or cars. I'm not sure how the IBIS or lens stab work with the gimbal drift. Do you know if it helps?
@MatthewVandeputte
@MatthewVandeputte 10 месяцев назад
Generally turn ibis off when on gimbal. I mostly use 0.5 second as well

Have you tried 4-5 sec shutter speed here?
@MatthewVandeputte
@MatthewVandeputte 10 месяцев назад
Mostly sticking to 1/2 second for a nice balance of speed of shooting and motion blur. I feel (with most gimbals) drift will be an issue here.
@HyperlapsePro
@HyperlapsePro 10 месяцев назад
@@MatthewVandeputte ah, ok. I usually use 4-5 sec shutter speed and wondering it it possible to do with some gimbal

Not to mention far less tiring physically, since you're not having to prop up or hand-hold the camera. Nice set-up mate. :)
@MatthewVandeputte
@MatthewVandeputte 10 месяцев назад
definitely, and, one of the best things which I realised two days ago, you don't have to stand in the direction that the camera is pointing. So if you're in a tight space you can just turn the tripod with the screen facing you but the camera will face the subject. Super handy for spots with lots of people
