How to Build the Ultimate Storage House | Valheim

In this video, I show you how to build a perfect storage house on Valheim. It has space for 52 black metal chests, placed efficiently along the walls, and every workstation in the game at it's respective maximum level. This includes a cauldron, black metal forge, eitr refinery, oven, fermenter, Galdr table, forge, artisan table, and workbench. In my opinion, this build is easily the best and most organised storage house build that includes every workstation and incorporates everything you need to maintain a high quality of life during the game.

I literally built this, as well as a lot of structures before I knew there were mods in the game. Idk how I never even looked. Luckily I kept mods off my main world as I progress. But the items drawers mod...i mean, a chefs kiss to the most important mod of all time...

Thank you for taking the time to write this. I personally enjoy build videos and use them myself for inspiration in my own builds. The issue is that, as with most of the internet, people like to shame others for doing things differently from themselves. It is exactly like you have already said - preference is everything. Update: I just spent several hours copying the build as closely as I could, given my iron-age progression. I swapped out the tiled roofs for thatch, the marble for normal stone bricks, and the fancy patterned beams for normal wooden beams. (NOTE: I think this makes the structural integrity weaker. I had to put in a central support beam and a middle iteration of the roof crosshatch in order to keep the roof stable.) I do hope to upgrade my workstation once I get the chance, though.🙂 Either way, it was a blast to build, and now I have all my stuff centralized in a convenient and deeply satisfying way. So thank you for the help!! 😁
@phinqs

@phinqs
@phinqs Год назад
That is very annoying - I know how you feel. I normally build my builds around 3-4 times before making the build guide. It gets very repetitive after a while, haha! The resource recovery makes building in this game a lot of fun though. Being able to tear down old structures and build new ones as your in-game requirements change was a great quality of life decision from the developers, in my opinion! Thanks for the comment!

To be honest, I am impressed! That's a whole lot of hoarding but I won't tell people how to enjoy the game! You could have added some windows to the top part of the roof. But my major concern is no furnaces. You can extend the workshop out 8 m on each side for some blast furnaces and kilns. Although I like the idea of removing the center blocks in making a basement deep enough and doing the furnaces down there.
@phinqs
@phinqs Год назад
That is a pretty cool idea - to have the furnaces underneath in the basement. It is possible to add windows in the roof quite easily. I have previously put them on the front and back of the roof when testing this build. I plan to do a video which includes smelters and furnaces separately, as I personally like them to be separate from what is shown in this build and that is why I did not include them! I love your builds and have done them or similar things using your ideas, such as hearths between floors, in quite a few of my bases. So thank you. I have done a couple of play throughs as the first time I used mods so now trying it vanilla and solo, it's not as easy as some make it look. Are you looking at doing a new or revised build for the Ashlands update? I think the new build pieces and your ideas would create something amazing. It will probably be ages before I get there, I am still trying to cope with the Mistlands and getting my butt kicked on a regular basis.

Thank you! It is always nice to hear that people like my builds. I have almost 1000 hours in the game and I still struggle with the normal difficulty. I like to place my upgrade stations below the floor. i dig out a pit under the floor stone. place them all then put the floor back. You don't need access to them and doing this frees up more space keeping everything tidy. The floor remains blue as you really don't need the pit to be very big.

Honestly, I just made up the labels for this video so I am not sure they would be much use. Normally, I have a good few chests for building materials (I'm not a big fan of storing them all in log/stone piles, for example). With all the other items, I start by using groups like "animal pelts" and "raw materials" and then afterwards, I will start to give each individual it's own chest - or split a chest between two items. Hope this helps but I'm not too sure it will. Thank you for all your support on my videos!

@phinqs

Thank you, I am glad you like it! The best way I have found is just to jump up and feed in the soft tissue. I know it is not ideal but it is quite a lot of work to incorporate stairs. It can be done but I found that you need to build 2-3 sets of stairs to reach the required height and that adds quite a large footprint to the build. I wanted the build to be as small as possible so decided not to add stairs. If you manage to work out a clever way to do it then please let us know! Thanks for your comment!

This build looks amazing, but ... 🙃 The chimneys, while nice, are purely decorative, the holes aren't tall enough to vent smoke. However, there is probably enough room in them to not smother the hearth anyway. You put 8 fires in the middle of the room, but then went and put a lantern directly above the hearth, which is the brightest spot in the building? It needs more storage space, honestly.
@phinqs
@phinqs Год назад
Thanks for the feedback. The chimney doesn't actually need to vent smoke in order to do what it needs to do - although, you can modify it easily enough to allow it to vent smoke. Also, I feel like you are being very critical. I would probably start with checking that the foundation pieces are coloured blue when you hover over them with the hammer. This will ensure they are in contact with the ground and as strong as they can be. I think with this build, I had to start the roof from the back of the build as it is better supported by the stone/black marble pieces. I can give you a little bit more guidance if you are happy to join my Discord server. You can share screenshots and I can have a look to see if I notice anything strange.
