Natalia, do you know if in terms of email for business only how you should share that? If online in what way? I just want to make sure that when it comes to business inquiries I receive through email however with my email, since I plan to use a pen name, it might not work out since it's in my actual name. Any tips?

Great advice, Natalia. The three things that I keep in mind are pretty similar: authenticity, encouraging, and value. I always feel guilty if someone were to invest their time into watching one of my videos and I didn’t try to give them some kind of take always that either encouraged them or gave them food for thought in their own writing.

As someone who works for a press, "You should only give away a book for free if it is to build your audience or appreciate that audience." We offer free ARCs for reviews. The authors I freelance with outside of work do Book Funnel for newsletter subs, sometimes they do a free Amazon eBook to promo their next book in that series coming out, my lookup to publisher Harlequin at HarperCollins does free online novellas to encourage readers to test new authors and Courtney from Kennedy Fox has done a free book in her newsletters release in serial. You as an author are worth money. Your work is worth money. ONLY be free if you are getting far more from it in the long run.

Hey Natalia, thanks for the great video. I had a question if you don't mind. What's your opinion on whether to pick a single genre to write on or multiple? Right now I'm all over the place, writing scifi, comedy, and horror. Do you think it's better to stick to one genre and market towards that or be more versatile?

You mentioned it slightly, but I'm still lost or in a rut on how to "build" those relationships to get those followers. I've mentioned before in another comment for another video, that as an Author, I've done things quite backwards. Working with it is trying but I'm doing it. Ranting aside, I guess what I'm asking is how is one supposed to go about really fostering these relationships? As an example, I do a lot of twitter and Facebook, those are my platforms. I work to interact with posts and help keep passing them along, but it seems like...I'm invisible most of the time. I have garnered followers but those don't really relate back to my author site nor my work and it doesn't seem to help any post that I put up. Granted, I've only been doing it for a little over six months and I know it will take time, but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere...yet. Is there something I might be doing wrong or just need to wait it out more? I only ask because you've been active for years so I figured you might have a better idea or understanding.
@EmilyOlivieri
@EmilyOlivieri 4 года назад
Latisha Austin I think it’s definitely something that comes over time. People that do youtube have a bit of an “easier” time because they’re putting their face and voice out there so people can connect even more to that. Whereas on twitter and fb its usually all text based interaction which can feel a bit impersonal. I’m not saying that what you’re doing isn’t going to work, i think it’ll just be a bit of a waiting game. So stick to it! I’m sure you’re doing an amazing job ❤️
@latishaaustin3740

@@EmilyOlivieri Thanks for the encouragement. I figured as much but it never hurts to hear it again. I want to start a RU-vid channel of my own but I'm not to that stage yet. I'm still working on de-cluttering my life and finding a balance for everything that I have going on now. Once all that is settled, then perhaps I'll be in a good place (and know what to do) for a RU-vid channel.

I applied for a trademark with the USPTO and it is in review and they assigned a serial number. I write books and have self published on KDP and Vella. I have a Amazon Author page. I am curious about registering my brand trademark under Amazon's brand registry. Does anyone know if authors benefit from having a brand, and registering that brand with Amazon? plus/minus's?
@richardmccallum181
@richardmccallum181 Год назад
Chatopenai comments. What do you think?: Chatopenai: Self-published authors can register a trademark for their brand with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), and also register their brand on Amazon's Brand Registry program. While it's not a requirement, there are benefits to registering a trademark and enrolling in Amazon's Brand Registry. Benefits of registering a trademark include: Legal protection: A registered trademark provides legal protection for the author's brand name, logo, or slogan. It gives the author the exclusive right to use the mark in connection with their goods or services and to prevent others from using a similar mark that may cause confusion among customers. Brand recognition: A registered trademark can help create brand recognition for the author's work, as well as establish their reputation in the market. Credibility: A registered trademark can add credibility to the author's work, as it shows that they are serious about their brand and their business. Benefits of enrolling in Amazon's Brand Registry include: Control over product listings: Enrolling in Amazon's Brand Registry gives the author more control over their product listings, including the ability to create their own product detail pages and better manage their product descriptions and images. Protection against counterfeiters: Amazon's Brand Registry provides tools to help authors protect their brand from counterfeiters and unauthorized sellers, including the ability to remove listings that infringe on their trademark. Enhanced marketing opportunities: Enrolling in Amazon's Brand Registry may provide access to enhanced marketing opportunities, including the ability to create sponsored product ads. There are some potential negatives to consider as well, including the cost of registering a trademark and the time and effort required to manage and maintain it. Additionally, there may be fees associated with enrolling in Amazon's Brand Registry, and authors will need to provide evidence of their trademark registration and meet certain eligibility requirements. Overall, while registering a trademark and enrolling in Amazon's Brand Registry may not be necessary for all self-published authors, there are potential benefits to doing so, particularly for those who are serious about establishing and protecting their brand.

What is wrong with people, that they would rather see an ultra-low-effort video once a week, than something good once a month? I subscribe if a channel has at least two good videos, and doesn't have them buried under a flood of worthless filler. Is there some penalty for subscribing to too many channels?
