Learn how you can buy a project car for less than the cost of a new cell phone! Project cars are great for learning how to fix a car and when you are "done" (project cars are never done), you can be proud to drive the car you fixed up!

@@HansWick At the end of the video he explained how it works.. Basically he bought the car for 1,100$ and for that amount difference (600$) he'd get 60 laps penality. But the rules allow to resell some non safety parts and come closer as possible to 500$. Then he sold some of the parts of the cars like the radio, wood, speakers and few more things. Subtract the resell from the initial price and he got 540$ budget car with 4 laps penality. :)

Dude...you are so god damn likable. That "select your driver" thing was amazing. On days like today, I just queue up random videos you've made and try to absorb as much knowledge as I can as I start my journey into being self-sufficient with my cars. 4.4: BS Factor: To prevent cheating, all cars will be inspected by a panel appointed by the Organizers. At that time, all teams will be given an opportunity to describe the car’s purchase and prep. If the panel believes the limit set out in Rule 4.1 has been exceeded, it will assign a Bullshit Factor (BSF) equal to one BSF per $10 above the limit. The entry will be docked one lap for each BSF assigned. (Ten dollars = one BSF = one lap.) Entrants are very, very, exceedingly strongly encouraged to bring pre-race-prep photographs, verifiable receipts, notarized testimonials, plus any and all other supporting evidence to Tech/BS Inspection. Or at least make up plausible-sounding stories in advance.

I got a 2005 BMW 325i for 2k. It was misfiring, but the body was clean, a few manageable dings and scratches, botched interior, but it was practically rust free. Rare for a used car in my area, so it was a big win. 2 blocks after driving it from the buyer upper radiator hose blew. Had to walk an hour around the city to find a replacement, and use the tools of a friendly old guy to get her going. I knew going in it was going to be a lot of work to make it reliable. So far, I've rebuilt the vanos, replaced the coil packs, sparkplugs, coolant lines, exhaust intake boots, mass airflow sensor, fuel injectors, valve cover gasket, oil filter housing gasket, thermostat, water pump, and flushed and replaced all the fluids. It was frustrating, painful, and freaking awesome.

You kinda get used to it after doing this stuff a while. But it still takes me like 30min to replace my spark plugs cuz i meticulously gap them. And maintenance, it’s never really easy and fun, rust will ruin your day. Importantly, you still saved money by doing your coils and sparks on your own.

I’m a tire tech and I would recommend the continental Xtreem contacts they are aggressive street tire, sticky on the track and where well. They have a tread where of 500-600. AA on traction. A on temp and W speed rating which good for about 160 mph. 👍🏻

This is honestly a very great way for somebody to learn how to work on cars. Just follow thee videos while tearing a car apart, do the race, then expand on your knowledge by learning how to build it back up but in your own way.

I bought my Mazda 3 2.0 1st gen sedan for a mere €500. She was running perfectly motor wise but was meant for export due to rusty sills. I bought her anyways as she was everything I was looking for. She has the full luxery pack on her, right color, leather interior ect... people called me foolish for buying her. But here I am, nearly a year further and she is my daily ride. She's getting new Koni struts soon with H&R lowering springs. She's my project car and I'm happy with her. Your video's has helped me with doing certain maintaince stuff. Always a pleasure watching your videos

You can sell: carpets, side indicators, spare wheel, set with spanners that is in trunk cover, sunroof (you'll remove it anyway), glove box, engine cover (plastic), BMW "kidneys" (silver/black in front of a hood - where you open hood - replace them with mesh) - radio and audio system. Do not know what rules says about: inside door panels, back seats + safety belts and lots of other inside parts.

I got a 1969 Camaro that runs and looks great, no rust at all, it was kept in a garage. Got it just by cutting an old lady's yard this summer. I was honest and told her it was worth alot she said "I know I just want it gone" gave it to me up front also lol beautiful blue color with dual white racing stripes.
