Only video I have ever seen that really explains the process. Thanks Simon! I still find that finding parts for purchase MOC instructions is a real headache. (even though you made this a bit easier).

Hi Bruce, I'm glad my video helped 'demystify' the process! Yes it definitely can be a a headache at times, particularly when you have to place a lot of different orders with different sellers to get all the parts you need for a MOC. But on the flip side there's a great sense of satisfaction that you can feel when you've received all the parts you need and can finally get on to building your MOC!

Extremely useful, I have been scared off Bricklink just by visiting, you are showing me the path back, thank you!! It does seem very cumbersome, but the mocs are were I want to go, as official sets just..don't cut it for me. Thanks again!

Good to hear! ...and yes BrickLink can seem cumbersome and awkward initially, but after placing a few orders you will get the hang of it 🙂. As far as being disappointed with 'standard' Lego sets I hear you, the more custom Lego models that I build the less interested I feel in building standard/average Lego offerings. 🤷‍♂️

Thanks to your help I've just placed my first order on Bricklink for parts to modify the Space Shuffle (which has just been dispatched from Lego, great timing!) as you suggested, and to try out a small modification of another set I built recently. If all goes well I'll upload it to Rebrickable.

Excellent video. Your Lego vids have gotten me back into it - just finished the Ecto-1 with lights and sounds and I'm now up to the Ghostbuster Firehouse (my wife does not need to know how much I paid to get a new set). I'll put this video to good use I think. :)

Great video! This is exactly what I've been looking for to help me place my first bricklink order. One question I have that was not covered in your video: do you ever set a max price for the parts in your wanted lists and if so, what is your process for determining what max price should be? Thanks!
@CraftedBricks
@CraftedBricks 2 года назад
Hi Van, thanks for commenting and I'm glad my video has helped you with your first BrickLink order! Welcome to the world of custom MOCs, Mods and crafting better Lego models! You've posed a good question. I didn't cover setting maximum prices for parts on Wanted lists as it's a feature I never use and think would be difficult to use practically, especially for large wanted lists. You'd have to have some knowledge of average BrickLink part costs for specific Lego parts for it to be effective. I think using the 'Select' feature on the Buy Wanted Lists page to quickly eyeball part and order costs from different BrickLink sellers that stock parts for you list is the easiest way to compare potential order costs between sellers and to check if any particular sellers have crazy high part costs - and therefore should be avoided. Cheers, Simon

Just found you link on the Brickwars page. Awesome helpful video’s indeed! I been spending a tonne of time cataloging my spare parts from old sets as I’m really getting tin MOCS, do you know if there a simple way to transfer across from Brickstore into Bricklink? At present I am doing things very manually… Cheers!
@CraftedBricks
@CraftedBricks 9 месяцев назад
Hi Cimboc, sounds good! As to your question I've not used BrickStore so I'm unfamiliar with it. But I think you may be able to achieve what you are seeking to do directly in BrickLink. Search for a set you have in BrickLink, click on the link to the set to view the Catalogue page for the set. Then there are options to: see the inventory of parts, or add the set or inventory of parts to your Store or a Wanted list, or add the set to your Collection stored on BrickLink. If you wanted to transfer parts you've catalogued in BrickStore I assume you can download those lists as a parts xml file - which you could use to upload as a wanted list in BrickLink to compare to other lists. Comparison of list in BrickLink doesn't seem to be a feature. For noting Rebrickable has features to allow you to determine how much of a MOC you can build from parts on custom parts lists or from parts from sets you own. Cheers, Simon

Hi Simon just having a go at mastering bricklink and was wondering if you have a parts list of lets say 100 pieces and you find a seller that has 80 pieces and you buy them does brinklink delete the items you have bought from your parts list or do you have to go through and delete them yourself to try and find the missing pieces from someone else. Thx
@CraftedBricks
@CraftedBricks 2 года назад
Hi Chris, yes you do have to delete the parts you've ordered from a given seller from your wanted list and then complete ordering from the reduced list from another seller. An easy way to do this if you are ordering for only one list is: click on your wanted list, then select 'Apply Order' - select the order you just completed, then select to apply it. Then delete the items from your wanted list were the Have Quantity = the Want Quantity. Easy!

Very nice video guide, but I have a problem. I want to buy only the pieces I need from the moc to add on my already existing lego, but I don't know how to do that.
@CraftedBricks
@CraftedBricks 2 года назад
Thank you. The best way to do what you are saying, I do this all the time, is to create a Wanted List in BrickLink using the file for your MOC. And then manually delete the parts you already have from the Wanted List. Then the list will only include the the parts you need to order that you do not already own. Make sense?

Is there any way where you can automaicaly delete the parts from your wanted list that you already have in your inventory?
@CraftedBricks
@CraftedBricks Год назад
Hi there, no not to automatically delete. But you can semi-automatically update the quantities owned in a wanted list - which then makes it easier to see what to delete. Open your Wanted list -> click Apply Order -> select the order you just placed -> then see the if quantities shown are ok then -> Apply to order. I go over this in the 'update' video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vLgxoe4R6Ss.html

Is there any feature to look after the missing parts? I mean you showed that it is not always possible to get all 100% of the parts, but is there a way to seperate the missing 5% and add them to your order?
@CraftedBricks
@CraftedBricks 2 года назад
Hi Jinzo, did you watch the part in the video where you delete parts you have ordered in an order from your wanted list? This is best way to reduce a wanted list to have only the parts that you need to order from another seller. There is another way, which is 'Apply Order' on the wanted list screen, I explain that approach in my update video. But the delete method is the best in my opinion. Let me know if this answers your question.

can you buy parts with custom decals? Like from part designer? Because it seems kind of lame (in my opinion) for part designer to even exist if you can't get the parts in physical form. I have spent the last hour searching the web trying to find a answer to this question, and am getting somewhat frustrated.
@CraftedBricks

Great comment and I fully understand your thoughts on Studio part designer. To answer your question, no you can't buy custom printed Lego parts directly matching what you may mock up in Studio. Lego actually banned/removed custom printed parts, and say chromed and other special parts from BrickLink when they bought it a few years back. If you do a search on 'Google' for 'custom printed lego' you can find a number of sites that sell custom printed minifigures, tiles and so on, so this may be of help? There are also sites like the Brick Sticker Shop where you can buy Lego sticker replacements and other custom decals, again this may be of help.

Great video! I'm looking at my first order, and it shows "2429/1991 assigned (121%)" with 19 stores included. I tried re-filtering/reducing duplicate bricks to get closer to my 1991 assigned & less stores, but it seems to be more expensive. Does that 121% seem right? I also ran into a seller with a lot limit of 5, but the auto-select suggested buying 67 lots from them. Should I just message that seller and ask if I can bypass that limit or should I try filtering out that seller for this purchase? I'm not confident yet the 19 stores is the best option, as a significant cost will go to shipping, but I could be wrong.
@CraftedBricks
@CraftedBricks 9 месяцев назад
Hi there! ...were you using the 'Easy Buy' feature on BrickLink to come up with the different carts across 19 stores for your Wanted list? If so I definitely don't recommend that!!! You are much better off finding a good set of 2-3 stores that have most of the parts you need for your list and, and then going into their store page, then going to Shop -> Wanted List, selecting your list and then adding the parts you need to a cart etc. Repeating for each store until you have bought everything from your list. I hope this makes sense. BTW no the 121% sounds weird, and ordering small orders form 19 stores will cost a lot due to lost of shipping costs, definitely not recommended. Good luck!

@@CraftedBricks I will definitely try honing in on a couple of stores if possible for the 2K bricks instead. I was using the Buy All > Auto Select which came up with 19 stores but it just felt wrong after watching your vid. Almost 2K bricks is intimidating, but 19 stores felt worse. Subscribed to your channel - Thank you!

Update! I've been using your helpful tips, slowly buying up my wanted list. When getting down to your last parts, how do you avoid the problem of finding just 1 or 2 unique lots at most with each seller? I don't currently have a 2nd wanted list so I'm just trying to finish buying the pieces for the 1 list, but I have around 4-5 unique lots left, and a couple don't even show up at any seller's store (too specialized/unique of a part?). I'm already right around my estimated cost for the whole build including adding the 20% factored in for shipping (that I saw you suggested) but I'm looking at an additional 5 orders ($40+) for my remaining pieces and bricklink still doesn't show the final printed piece I need from any seller. I've searched the internet, and by far, you are the most thorough on this subject :) Thanks for your vids!

@@C-117 - Sourcing those last few remaining parts for some builds can be a real pain! I feel you, I've had a similar dilemmas in the past. What I would recommend is to go to the Catalogue Page for each hard-to-find part that you are hunting for (do a search for part on BrickLink using the part number, example Catalogue Page here of a random part: www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=3455&name=Arch%201%20x%206&category=%5BArch%5D#T=S&C=8&O={%22color%22:%228%22,%22ss%22:%22AU%22,%22iconly%22:0}). Then make sure the color you want is selected and then click on the 'Items for Sale' tab - to find buyers who are selling that part. If you get really stuck you can try to find the set that part comes in - click on the '# Sets' link under the 'Item Appears in' on the top right of the part Catalogue Page. I've bought the set rare parts occur in that I need for a build once or twice - it's not cost effective but in dire circumstances can be a way forward; and you at least get extra or spare parts from the set for future projects. There's also a way to narrow down sellers on the Buy Wanted Lists page that may help. Get to this page from your Wanted list by clicking 'Buy All' - then click the 'Wanted Items' tab on the left-hand-side, then have your wanted list selected, then for the specific parts you need click the small shopping bag to the top right of each of the pictures of the parts to refine the list of sellers on the right to only those that stock the parts you have selected. This is all a little difficult to explain over text but I hope these tips help!

Hi, i have a question. What if the image of the part is not show, is this bad ? Because if i see trough some sellers stock, it wont show because it hasnt a image i think. Are not all the parts availbe on bricklink? Or do i need to split up my parts between 2 or more sellers?
@CraftedBricks
@CraftedBricks 2 года назад
Hi Snowflake, if you are talking about some parts on a wanted list that you have created that do not have an image of the part - it is because that part is not available in the colour you have chosen. As in it's not made by Lego in that colour. Try changing the colour for the part and see if that fixes your issue. If you are talking about something else / just let me know in a reply comment.

@@CraftedBricks thank you, this helped and now it's better. But if the seller has not all of the parts you need, you need to split up your order between 2 or more sellers right?
@CraftedBricks
@CraftedBricks 2 года назад
Hi Snowflake, yes that is correct. If a seller does not have everything you need, order what you can, then after you have ordered remove the items ordered from your wanted list. Then order the remaining parts from a different seller. Depending on how big your wanted list is you may need to repeat this process several times to have ordered everything that you need for your project.

So I have 131 items that I have for my lego part list. When I go to the stores and click on unique lots, it only shows numbers below 131 for the parts. Does that mean I will have to manually try to find out which parts are missing? If so how do I do that?
@CraftedBricks
@CraftedBricks Год назад
Hi Birdships - that means that no single store stocks all 131 parts from your list. And means you will have to place multiple orders to buy all of the parts that you need. This is very normal. Place an order with the store you like/or has the most parts, then remove the parts you've ordered from your wanted list and then try another seller to get the remainder. I hope this makes sense, it can be somewhat confusing initially but after a few orders you will get the hang of it.

@@CraftedBricks I have another question, is it a good idea to buy lego minifigures from overseas if the price is cheaper?
@CraftedBricks
@CraftedBricks Год назад
@@birdchips6886 - Hi there, I've bought minifigures from overseas sellers before, and yes because the pricing is good. Just do your own checks of the seller, i.e. check they don't have any recent negative feedback, check their selling terms are ok and then you order put a message on the order asking them to pack your order carefully + inside a strong outer cardboard mailing box for postage. That said yes it is riskier, but I think if you are ordering from a well established O/S BrickLink seller you should be ok.
