So glad I found your channel! I just started documenting my gardening journey in coastal North Carolina. I can’t wait to dive into your videos! Let’s be flower friends!
Hello Olga. I'm gardening in Prince Edward Island, Canada, and it's zone 5 (equivalent to zone 4 US). Although some of the David Austin roses are theoretically hardy here, we're on a very exposed and windy site. So I have opted for a couple of rugosa type roses, Marie Bugnet and Sarah van Fleet. Marie Bugnet is a smaller bush with very fragrant white flowers and I love it. Sarah van Fleet is supposed to have semi-double fragrant pink flowers, but since this is her first year she has not bloomed yet. Thank you for your videos and gardening advice. Happy gardening!
I am retired now from my position as gardener for the jbo sanctuary of new harmony indiana. It is a tree city on the national registry of arboretum. Open vista's free of large trees and shade are hard to find. So yes, it is paramount that you find a ,if possible an elevated and full sun location. Slightly elevated for proper drainage, and open for full sun rotation. This placement is also a invitation for the planting of beneficial perennials. I have done this also with my fruit trees and have had great results. Personally i think every one in this country should dedicate a 5x5 or 10x10, or larger if possible plot of ground for a indigenous prairie pollinating gardens. A little bit every where will help feed bees and beneficial insects that are so crucial for pollination and undesirable insect management.
