The blooms are there in my garden and today we are just walking around and seeing Olivia Austin in full blooms. The big surprise of this year is Katrina rose, which bloomed for the first time in my garden.
Enjoy!

Olivia rose austin is an excellent choice. Very disease resistant and repeat blooming. I have results above and beyond my expectations even in the first year. Of course i dug out two foot deep and replaced the hard clay soil and added organic amendments in two long hedge rows. She is very well established now and happy with her companions of thyme, garden salvia, lavender, lemon balm, and many others.

My Lord, this video warmed my heart and brought tears to my eyes! I was following you through the paths as I was looking ahead, above, and around. You made me miss the east end of Long Island where we grew up, married, and moved to North Carolina in 89. Your garden and entire neighborhood is beautiful! These feelings are something I've never had seeing a garden video. Thank Your beloved camera man for me!

So Katrina Rose is also called the Peggy Martin Rose? The Vanessa Bell rose is quite striking! Thank you for the tour!

Gorgeous! My LaMarque is having a second flush of buds here in NC, but the Japanese beetles have arrived, so it's a battle royale to see who wins.

I really enjoy the defined spaces and transitions in your garden. Very creative use of space! For the area with pine needles, might I suggest Hellebore (lenten rose)? I have a few under a cedar tree and they are very happy and don't mind the shade or needles. They bloom in March/April timeframe so in time for Lent and are evergreen. I am also in zone 7a and have noticed the hydrangeas are going to be spectacular this year!

Oh, lenten roses are sooo pretty! It is a good suggestion, thank you, to fill that space. Happy gardening!

Olga, your garden is gorgeous; all the flowers are thriving. Taking a walk in your garden would definitely lift one's spirits. There is a lot to learn to be a successful gardener. Here in Texas, perhaps due to the frequent heavy rains followed by intense sunshine, the leaves of rose bushes easily develop black spots. I would like to ask for your advice on how to prevent black spot disease. If the leaves of roses develop black spots, how should they be properly treated? A friend of mine had five rose bushes with leaves covered in black spots and had no choice but to prune them all in the height of summer. Four of the five survived, but one did not. Is it not advisable to prune in the summer? Does pruning in summer make roses more susceptible to sun damage? In situations like my friend's, if pruning is not an option, is there a better solution? Thank you for your advice and your time.

Hey pretty lady. How did your group of 5 Roald Dahl make out? I was thinking of planting 2 or 3 Princess Alexandra of Kent's close together in the same fashion.

I was worried when I saw the spot where you wanted to put your Peggy Martin rose, Olga. Once she gets going she can be a brut! I hope she'll behave in your garden and you will enjoy her as you do all of your roses and blooms. It's such a pleasure to take a garden walk with you. Thanks for sharing!

Do you apply coffee and tea grounds to the base soil of your roses and hydrangeas.
