You might want to service the latch for the canopy. I hear they can be sticky. I heard some dude on freq with one of these recently that got stuck in his airplane.

First THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing your purchasing experience and 6months after video!!! 🙏 Question: How much more range have you gotten with the "Long Range Tanks"? That really got my attention more than anything with your Tiger. Much appreciated for your content and experience with your Grumman - Tiger!
@FlyWithBruno
@FlyWithBruno 2 года назад
Thanks Edmond! Appreciate the kind words and the support! The Long Range tanks allow for 51 gallons of fuel, which equal around 6-7 hours of range in Economy Cruise. BUT... I've learned that it isn't so much about your tanks capacity, and more about your bladder's capacity... LOL. I usually plan for 3-4 hour legs tops, so I can land, stretch my legs and, most importantly, use the restroom... yes, you can use the infamous bottle in-flight, but I'll say it's far from comfortable. Or hygienic. Hope this helps! Blue skies.

Did you also consider a PA-28 160 or 180? I've heard the cockpit is just a bit narrower than the Piper Cherokee body, but the Grummans are faster and sportier.
@FlyWithBruno
@FlyWithBruno 3 года назад
Yes, I certainly did! I did my entire training in the PA28-160/180, so that was my first option when I started looking. The Grumman was a matter of opportunity, really: it was here in Long Island, low time airframe & engine, well equipped and kept. I didn't think twice. And I grew to love it more than I liked the PA28s :)

Show de bola brother! Pergunta, why didn’t you join a flight club to build hours? Just curious about your reasoning. I’m trying to get up to ATP so I’m curious as to what’s the best way to build hours.
@FlyWithBruno
@FlyWithBruno 3 года назад
Fala brother! Obrigado! I joined several flight clubs in the past couple of years to build time, but eventually realized I'd actually save money if I had my own plane. Plus, aircraft ownership was a long-time dream :) It's not my goal to get up to ATP or join the airlines, but I'm committed to Aviation for life and having my plane will help me stay proficient, current and to be a better pilot. As far as building hours, you may find that you can actually save money by owning a plane, and there are cheap options. An example is the Cessna 152 or the Grumman Yankee. Good luck and tail winds, meu amigo!

@FlyWithBruno
@FlyWithBruno 4 года назад
I left it out because it really depends on the seller and the negotiation. You can find that exact plane in range from 40-70K, depending on the equipment/upgrades it has, TTAF, SMOH and so on. The price for my plane was based on AOPA's Vref scale, and I payed 50K. Hope this helps!

Annual/12= 166. Gas x hr= 50. How did you come up with 45? $150 is more like it (without ins and extras). Still a good deal, but more accurate
@FlyWithBruno
@FlyWithBruno 3 года назад
My annual/12= $96. My insurance/12=$116 (I'm a low time pilot, hence the high premium). I fly an average of 10 hours per month, and keep track of every dollar I spend on fuel ($4.50 at my home airport). I pay $85 monthly for a tie-down. I add it all up, and divide how many hours I flew that month. It's been consistently in the $45-50/hr range since July. But to me, the freedom and experience that comes with it are far more valuable than the money savings I had so far.
@reyesben
@reyesben 3 года назад
@@FlyWithBruno you’re doing well. Are you adding In an engine and prop reserve? Maybe not since the prop is new? How about the engine? I’m working through budgeting now
@FlyWithBruno
@FlyWithBruno 3 года назад
@Benny Reyes you’re right, I didn’t add that reserve because both the engine and the prop have low time. My prop has 300 hours SPOH and my engine has less than 600 hours SMOH. This gives me at least 10 years before I need to worry about overhauls (provided nothing major happens between now and then, of course). That said, adding a reserve is wise and I should probably do it from now on. The hourly cost would still be much lower than renting!

@nrice3623 4 года назад
@@FlyWithBruno I may have missed it, but do you plan to go the airlines route, or stay in GA? If you went airlines, would you sell the plane at that point, or hang onto it "for fun?" Curious how a "short term" ownership played into your consideration if that was the case.
@FlyWithBruno
@FlyWithBruno 4 года назад
@@nrice3623 I don't have plans to go to the airlines at this point. It would mean starting a new career from scratch, and in an industry that, unfortunately, is facing very turbulent times :( If I have the chance, I'll keep this plane for life, or for as long as my health (and my wallet LoL) allows me to fly it. Or maybe I'll upgrade to another plane in a distant future, I don't know.
