How to bypass the HDCP copy protection on the Playstation 3. This is perfect if you want to live stream or record PS3 footage in 1080p footage. I am using a 2 way HDMI splitter from Amazon combined with the Razer Ripsaw external capture card.
Due to an issue with RU-vid and me posting links, I do not provide links to the products I review anymore but I do include the description in the video for easy lookup.

Thanks for the tip. I picked up a used PS3 last week. I couldn't get any signal if I had it plugged into the HDMI switch that's part of my streaming setup, but it worked just fine if it was plugged directly into my TV. I was thinking that port on my HDMI switch had broken, but my Nintendo Switch worked fine with it. Turns out it's the dang HDCP baked into the PS3 hardware instead.

I use to have no problem with this method but now my sound doesn't work. I tried to troubleshoot it but then I lost visual as well. Elgato 4K Capture noticed it was PS3 and gave me the warning of HDCP. I'm thinking its the new Elgato that's complicating the situation.

So I need a capture card (elgato?) And the splitter? Also I have to connect some cable to a computer. Will a laptop work? More specifically, an asus chromebook?

I recommend using the Razer Ripsaw. That lets you play on the computer screen without any lag input. As for the chromebook - that i cannot say. A quick search says you need windows installed on it.

tried this it didnt work at all i have used two different splitters orders one online and they said it would work it just give me a black screen Does not work with HD60X it splits the signal and works fine on the tv but not with the capture card. its not seeing in obs at all .

late but not all hdmi splitters can remove HDCP. gotta be careful with that!

I’ve got a PS5. Will this work on it?? Have you tried recording more than just gameplay? Wonder if it would work recording Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime? Just curious. Not saying I’d do it. I’m thinking that would be illegal. Just something I’m curious about.

For me, it does. Though some people using the hd60 are having problems. It works for my Razer tho

@@VideoWulff here's a funny story. I got it to work regularly without a splitter and I have a elgato hd60 S. After this ps3 update, it stopped working. I bought a splitter and nothing is showing. I'm not sure if I had to redownload the elgato software because nothing is showing.

Hey guys I need help. I'm able to connect everything and successfully display the game on the capture card elgato hd60 s...... the problem is that as soon as the ps3 picture come up it only last like 2 seconds and I get a blank screen. I'm using a splitter that was recommended to bypass the dhcp. Please help. Thanks

Only thing I cam think of is that the capture resolution may not be the same so it goes blank. When you do this, can you hear the ps3 on the computer?

@@VideoWulff I cannot hear nothing because I don't have speakers in my pc. Regarding the resolution..... how can I make sure I have the same resolution. .?? The game on ps3 im using is a 1080p resolution.
