sir how to calculate allelic frequencies in case of multiple alleles of an autosomal gene,sex linked genes and polyploidy???
@GeneticsLessons
@GeneticsLessons 5 лет назад
Say 3 alleles, OK? F= (a+b+c)^2=1 4 alleles F=(a+b+c+d)^2=1

Dear Sir, thanks for video. What would be the concentration of protein or transcription factors for the minor allele, it has fewer proteins or less transcriptions
@GeneticsLessons
@GeneticsLessons 6 лет назад
Transcriptome (and protein composition - proteome) of the cell depends on two main factors: 1. Time of the cell cycle (some of the genes can up-regulated and down-regulated depending on the cell needs). 2. Cell line (in some organs some genes can be active in others can be completely inactive)

Thank you Sir reply and clearing my doubt. Is it possible that Functional SNP/Nonsynonymous SNP affecting the splicing of gene/change in amino acid
@GeneticsLessons
@GeneticsLessons 6 лет назад
Sure, there are many genetic disorders that are caused by single nucleotide mutation, sometimes even not in gene itself but in regulatory region outside the gene - so even single mutation can substantially change splicing.

Thanks once again Sir,I am glad that you spare your precious time to answer my query. Sir, would you send me your email id.
@RaviProf
@RaviProf 6 лет назад
An SNP G/A was found in the coding region of the examined gene. the resulting codons are ATG and ATA, which both code for tyrosine. The resulting change is, therefore: synonymous, nonsynonymous, shifting of reading frame, stop codon. I believe its nonsynonymous need your suggestions Sir

Sir, What is the allele frequency of A,B and O blood type in a population having various frequency of A=84 ,B=109 ,AB=47 and O =71 Sir please do it................
@GeneticsLessons
@GeneticsLessons 6 лет назад
You have to use trinomial expansion to solve this problem: (A+B+O)^2 in this formula A, B and O stands for 3 alleles and ^2 stands for diploid number of alleles.

What if they gave you the allele frequency of the recessive single allele? How would I be able to tell the frequency of the dominant phenotype?
@GeneticsLessons
@GeneticsLessons Год назад
Are you serious? if you know the frequency of recessive allele you instantly know the frequency of the dominant allele, just subtract known frequency from 1.

My brain not smart enough to understand biology
@GeneticsLessons
@GeneticsLessons Год назад
It is important to remember that intelligence is not fixed and can be improved with dedication and practice. Anyone can learn biology or any other subject if they have the desire and commitment to do so. It is also essential to recognize that different individuals have different learning styles, and some may find it easier to learn biology than others. Moreover, it is important to have a growth mindset when approaching learning, which means believing that your abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work. Instead of saying "My brain not smart enough to understand biology," it would be more beneficial to say "I need to work hard and consistently to understand biology better."

Why we are adding 240 to both of them
@diwataa
@diwataa Год назад
because you’re splitting the “Aa” in the middle. 480/2 is 240 each for dominant and recessive allele. Hope that helps! Didn’t understand till i rewatched the video 3 times 😅
