standard screws and bolts can be detachable but there are fasteners used in aerospace industry like hi-lok, hi-lite. these fasteners are also threaded. but they can not detachable after installation.

dividing by 1000 is to convert mm to meters, this step is not needed if you keep your input values the same as the output values i.e. Newtons and meters, otherwise very good

Hi Rohit, if you are asking about K table then it has been derived from a book "John H. Bickford -An introduction to the design and behavior of bolted joints". This you can see at the top side of PDF at 1:35. time into the video. You need to closely observe it 😊.

Hi, thanks for great video, explanations are very clear. Could you please tell from where u took the reference for pre load calculation. 0.75% of proof strength for non permanent joint is there any iso standard?? Currently i am checking for A4 70 grade bolt, there proof strength is mentioned as stress at 0.2 permanent strain is it correct? References for the formulas would be really helpful. Thanks
@technoworks.
@technoworks. 2 года назад
material which doesn't exhibit a clear yield point, for those materials proof strength is often considered as stress corresponding to 0.2% of permanent strain. some time it is also expressed as offset yield strength or 0.2 yield strength.
@technoworks.
@technoworks. 2 года назад
It is standard engineering practice. You will find it any fastener handbook.
@ravikumarkanagaraj690
@ravikumarkanagaraj690 2 года назад
Thanks for the response 🙂.. for 75% is there any references?? For 8.8 grade bolt proof stress and stress corresponding to 0.2strain both are available in iso standard. Value is 600 and 640 respectively so i am getting the doubt whether stress at 0.2 yield is Same as proof stress? Without the reference i am unable to derive the conclusion that's the reason. Thanks

Can you please explain how to calculate force which will make the bolt pull out of the nut Failing its threads!
@tmtan1303
@tmtan1303 5 месяцев назад
For standard bolt, VDI 2230 or machinery handbook I think is good to go. For customized thread, it can be treated as beam theory, where beam section height is thickness of root thread and beam section width is the thread coil length.

Sir please calculate 20mm Dia Bolt ( F ) Value. Pitch 2.5m / Gr. 8.8 If possible please calculate Minimum / maximum torque in Nm. M20 Bolt. / Gr. 8.8 / Pitch 2.5m / K= 0.15 / 600 Mpa. We use this bolt in Railway Bridges. This is a High strength friction grip Bolt.

my customer is calculating clamping load , can you tell me how can i calculate clamping load for M16 12.9 class bolt with M16 nut
@technoworks.
@technoworks. 2 года назад
For class 12.9 M16 bolt, tightining torque should be about 365 N-m. Assumed K=0.2 for non plated steel bolts and proof strength = 970 N/mm2.
