One more possible scenario. If the worker ties off below their D-ring, free fall would apply. That freefall distance would also have to be added into the fall clearance. For example, if they secured their lanyard at platform level, approximately 5 feet below their D-ring, they would be risking a 5-7'ish FFD. Some SRL's don't permit a FFD but if they do, that could significantly increase the clearance that's needed.
This video is great, but this is a generic way of calculating the distance. But it is always my recommendation to calculate the distance using the specific guidance in the SRL owner’s manual.
