I think it should have been noted that there are two types of standard deviation: sample and population. The method used here is sample standard deviation because it divides using n-1. Population standard deviation divides using n. Which method used depends on the data being analyzed.

That is a good question. If you go to about 3:36 in the videos where I add up the column of information that equals 166, this is SS or Sum of Squares. Your professor may use a different formula (computational), but it is the same thing. Make sense?

Meghan, Yes I do my own animation. I use a variety of different software including photoshop, illustrator, HTML5, Final Cut, GarageBand and a few other products. Each video takes me a long time to create. My rule of thumb is each minute of video takes about 12 hours to create, so a 7 minute video takes me about 84 hours of development time.

Those are the values that are independant of the mean value. Im taking stats right now in uni and by no means an expert. Thats what I've been taught and it makes enough sense to me to know its for good reason

The -1 is called losing a degree of observation if you're calculating a SAMPLE variance. If you DO have the entire population, you should/can use n for the population variance.

I'm from further into the future, the RU-vid Retro Classic service was started again as an elementary school project in 2096 as people romanticized about the days before instant data sharing across all human brains on the network. Modern (postwar 2077+) humans actually enjoyed the way you primitive humans once spent hours endlessly watching video after video to learn rather than just instantly having the knowledge on demand.
