Lawn Tips just a key word search mate. I was trying to get a few tips on how to get control of my lawn, and I decided to see if there was any Aussie content. BTW I used to live in Orange a couple of years back. A lawn like yours would stick out like dogs in the winter out there!
Lawn Tips yeah even had a few acres outside of Molong too. Wasn’t to be though mate, on the Gold Coast now! Keep up the great content, I’m learning heaps!
Why are these Hortex sprayers so hard to find? I live in NZ and the only ones I can find online are sold out, any recommendations or alternative sprayers?
Hey mate can I just put a weak mix of power feed in the water tank and let the sprinklers do the work I got a huge area of kyikuyu to cover and hoses won’t reach? Cheers mate
Hi boss. I'm using seaweed secrets and hortex sprayer but it only gives a 3 to 5 ml per litre dilution rate. No application rate per metre squared. So i cant figure the last step. Where do I get this meter squared rate from??
Hey mate, The rate for seaweed secrets per 100m2 is 100ml 👍🏽 I emailed them and that’s the rate that they gave me. Don’t stress is you go over or under by a bit
thanks, you have cleared up what dial i need to set it on but i'm using it for fungicide on my veggies and fruit trees. i'm using bi-carb a powder and it's 10 ml per litre but how much bi carb do i put in. it'd be very difficult to measure how long it would take me. so i'll guess, i suppose2 hrs, so 120 litres so 120 ml of powder? thanks. love your music btw
I am new to this game Ben and am catching up on your videos. I am not tech savy but I have approximately 257M2 in one section of my lawn and I use 2 back pack sprays of 14ltrs each. I am mixing the required strength of 100ml to 100m2 in 14ltrs of spray. Is this correct I am i walking too slow. All told I have and am treating a total of 502m2.
Wow, first comment, I never get that in. I’m sure we have something similar here. This will come in handy with weed control next year. What was the “Oh crap” at the end? 🙃 YNWA
jdrobbi haha you have to be in it to win it! I’m pretty sure there is an almost identical one in the states under a different brand name. Haha yeah my guitar fell over into some water.... whoops!
Hi mate , I bought this sprayer thinking how cool , now I’ll just be able to read a bottle , whack the gear in my sprayer and away we go . But nope , I threw it in the corner as I was mega confused . Then I found this clip and thought cool, here we go. I went and dug the bottle out of the shed , grabbed the power feed concentrate and was pumped . Watched you vid and now I’m even more confused . Ffs ,
Hi mate, I was looking to get both the seaweed secrets and the stimulizer, I have a few white patches and some weeds coming through in other isolated areas. Will this combo assist with growth in those white patches? Thanks
Hey mate, it should definitely help to improve your soil in those areas. You will need to do a few other things also as well like, aerate, use some slow release fert and kill some weeds off as well. But using the products to mentioned will help with long term soil health an strengthen your grass to combat problems in future
No worries mate! I usually recommend Nutriplus from globegrowingsolutions. It’s best to call or email to order some cause it’s not up on their website yet unfortunately. That’s what I used all last year and it was awesome. I’ve got a video about it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XDp12IJxl1Q.html
Hey Eddie, thanks! I don’t recommend applying things like insecticides and herbicides and fungicides as well. Usually best for things like fertiliser that you want to get in the soil. (Cause it uses so much water compared to a backpack sprayer) Also if it’s a really low rate of chemical you need to apply, use a backpack sprayer as well! 👍🏽
Hi Ben, great video! Do you think a hortex sprayer could be used with granular sulphate of iron? The stuff I have requires 300gram per 10L of water over 10m2. My pressure is 6 L/m. Lawn is 175m2 and takes 5:20mins to totally cover, so putting down about 32L of water. Liquid chemicals are easy to Calc on the hortex (with the help of your video), but since the sulphate is granular I’ll need to dissolve it first. Any ideas? Thanks
Think I got it... total sulphate required is 5.25kg. This needs to be diluted into 175 Litres (10L per 10m2 as above). Max rate on hortex is 31ml per litre on dial 10. So 175 litres / 31ml = 5.6L. I need to dissolve 5.25 kg into 5.6L of water for using in the hortex on setting 10. Hopefully my logic is correct!
HORTEX INSECTICIDE & FERTILISER SPRAYER 450ml Three simple steps to easy spraying • Pour chemical into removable plastic bottle 450ml • Set dial for the required dilution rate as detailed on instructions • Attach garden hose to the sprayer handle - Turn on water supply at the tap and spray
Hey, Just letting you know there is a site which has a calculator to help do the math, search for "hortex sprayer instructions" on the googs, and the site will be hortexsprayer(dot)com. asks for all the items that you've covered, and also has the dial chart at the bottom! Just found out it exists today. I am not sure if it is Hortex's site, but man it helps.
Hi, sorry still a bit confused.... So lets assume my yard is same as yours, ten minutes to double coat it and 60 Liters to complete it. My Seasol is a concentrate so 8ml per liter so that is 60 x 8ml = 480ml of seasol So I put 480ml of Seasol in the Hortex, do I add water to fill it or just leave air for the rest? Then 480ml / 60 = a setting of 8 so thats basically a three on the setting dial Do I got this right?
