Thank you for keeping this video up after all of these years. Great time capsule, and evidence on how knowledge is everlasting! This was exactly what I needed for an unused gas line outside my home which prior house flippers never resolved.

Very useful info. I don't work in a maintenance job, I just wanted to disconnect my gas dryer. I was able to go to the big box store and get the right stuff. When the young man who was helping me handed me white nylon tape, I told him I needed the yellow tape. Grateful to have seen this video.

Thanks so much. With the workforce being what it is today, it was so nice to have someone explain how to do this. I am glad I did not buy what was given to me to purchase for the job from my local big box store. It would have been the wrong cap and the wrong tape. The visual was great too. Now I know specifically what I am looking for to do the job.

A good video. Thanks. The suggestion of the double wrench technique is very helpful. One thing could be improved, you could be more descriptive on applying the tape. Saying "has to be the correct direction" and "this way" or "proper way" doesn't tell us what that direction is, and the resolution of the video isn't high. Maybe if you said "clockwise" or "counter clockwise," or in the direction of the threads or against them, then it might be clearer.

Being a single woman, I solve a lot of household problems with RU-vid videos. My gas dryer broke down and is beyond repair, and I happen to have a brand new electric dryer in storage, so it makes no sense to buy another gas dryer. I feel better able to shut down the gas line with your safety tips. I am assuming I use the soapy water test for the leak test.

In the UK the gas isolation lever should always fall to a switched off position if the lever should fail, the one on the video would have gas pumping in to the kitchen just waiting for ignition?

Hello Ken, I thought only caps are supposed to be used to cap gas lines. If a plug is over tightened it could break the valve or a female fitting. Could you please comment on this?
@KenTraining
@KenTraining Год назад
You can't always have access to put a plug in. I am not aware of a code requirement stating plug only. It does make sense to prevent cracking, but metal pipe cracking is not common. I fell very comfortable with my cap installation and I have not lost any sleep thinking about it...
