The process of dripping water from the leaves is called guttation, and yes it usually happens when the plant has more water. And for alocasias is “normal” as they thrive in humid conditions, just keep an eye and if happens very often, reduce the quantity of watering 🍃🤍🤗
Hello 😁 what a beautiful regal 😍 I would like to know where you purchased that black container where you have the plant in? Also what is the name of the fertilizer you use?
Thank you 😊 Unfortunately the black container I bought it long time ago, maybe 10-15 years ago in a local nursery 🙁 I use organic fertilizer BioBuzz Bio Grow fertilizer, but you can use any fertilizer, they are not very picky ❤️
I've had one for 3 years now. I've had to repot twice now, today being the second time. It grew another plant inside it, So I have 3 huge trunks in one planter. The problem I'm having is drooping leaves. They seem to be to heavy and the stem can't hold the weight. I know its thriving because I am getting new growth and has given me flowers twice. Last time was just 3 months ago or so. So I currently have those gardening rods in my planter and have tied up the leaves. I'm hoping spring and summer will help it ? I'm all out of ideas. Perhaps I should have separated the 3 trunks ? Any suggestions.
Wow, it sounds like your Alocasia Regal Shield is thriving with three huge trunks! Repotting and giving it space to grow is great, but the drooping leaves can be a challenge. Tying them up for support is a good temporary solution. Separating the trunks could help redistribute the weight, but it's a bit tricky. You could also try using taller supports or stakes to help prop up the leaves until they strengthen. With spring and summer coming, the plant might naturally become more robust. Keep an eye on it and adjust the support as needed.
My regal shield puts out new leaves at a fast rate but for some reason it is only holding on to 4 leaves...the leaves are huge but it's only 4.... I have had two healthy vibrant deep green leaves droop completely over and I had to cut them off because the stems were soft but the leaf wasn't yellow or unhealthy...why is this happening? I up potted it because the roots had overgrown the pot really bad...help
It's great to hear that your Regal Shield is putting out new leaves quickly. When you repot a plant, it can sometimes go through a period of adjustment, which might be why you're seeing some drooping and soft stems. I think you should give it a time. A watering globe can be helpful, but I would recommend using it only when you are away for more than a few days. Alocasias, like the Regal Shield, are heavy feeders and need a good amount of water and fertilizer. Regular watering and feeding are important to keep them healthy. Please feel free to ask if you have more questions!
@kbm4409 If your alocasia is new, don’t add fertilizer in the first 20 days, just regular watering. Don’t worry about the color, it will change later. 🙏❤️
