Steve this video is packed with helpful information! I’m looking to dive into the world of orchids to expand my house plant collection, and this video was the perfect start. Thank you.
Just found your video and thank you so much for sharing Steve!! I've had three Phal Orchids that I bought in bloom two years ago and they suffered from bud blast and crown/root rot!! I was able to save them but they haven't rebloomed since, and this year the roots are starting to get alot longer which you said is normal, and they're growing more roots and leaves so I'm SO hoping this year they get new flower spikes, that would make me so happy because that'll let me know that I've finally learned to care for them in every way possible!!❤️🥰🙏🏼
I brought this at Lowe's 2 years ago l love the leaves beautiful and the flowers are lilac pink so pretty it is my favorite .l live Waxahachie Texas 30 miles away from Dallas Texas.
Love your channel! I have one but it has never bloomed again and I’ve had mine for about 3+ yrs. I wish mine wld bloom. I’ll do what you suggested and hopefully mine will bloom.
Great video, Steve. We just launched a new glass pot for orchids and the info you shared will make it much easier for me to explain Orchids 101 to our customers. Thank you.
Thank you Mr. Steve, so much info. God bless you for share with us. I simply love plants and the phenomenon simply amazes me" life thrives from a dried seed". Truly amazing.
Just wonderful colors..I live in Wisconsin and I repotted my orchid from ALDI and pleasantly was blessed with 38 blooms! I have a video but I dont know how to show you the video..I took pictures of the growth..thanks for your video!
Excellent video! Thank you so much for valuable information . Lots of care tips. Very glad I discover this video. Best one. Appreciate your sharing gift . I have grown orchid many years . Your video is very good!
Thanks for the upload. I live in Pacific NW and noticed that sometimes my Orchids(from safeway, so figure they are Phalaenopsis) are hit and miss as far as blooming, and now I know why. Thanks.
Excellent! Very informative, thank you. We’re often gifted Phalaenopsis here in the UK and I have a couple that I’ve somehow been lucky with but never really understood. I’ve learned more from this video than in any of the other information I’ve seen. Thank you so much. Very much looking forward to the video about repotting!
50 years growing orchids?!?! Wow! I was wondering if you can get an orchid to rebloom without manipulating the temperature? Thank you for sharing your knowledge n tips w/us. You have some beautiful orchids there. God bless you!😇
I don't know if you can do it by not changing the temperature at all. But I would not recommend letting it get down to 60. I found my plants would Bloom but drop their flowers almost faster than they opened. Last year I had some heat trouble and the place got down to 50. Not all of the phalaenopsis survived and the ones that did are still trying to recover.
Hi...lots of great information tku ...I do have a question you mention you keep your orchids in the greenhouse Is it heated during the winter? Tku again dj
I have a phalaenopsis that is just now dropping her flowers that bloomed in May. It is now September. I could tell they were about to go because the bright color started to fade somewhat. I ended up hand pollinating a few of them. Maybe I will get lucky to get a seed pod!
Please can you tell me what to do when leaves shows some white lines on them and some shows like small cut as well, much appreciate if you can answer thank you
Great information. My plant hasn't reflowered, but on the flower shoots I have two new plants on one and another on the other. What do I need to do now?
Is there a range of humidity that phaleanopsis need? We live in the high altitude desert of Northern Nevada, with low humidity. I mist the orchids daily and keep a humidity thermometer near them, but I don't know what conditions I should be replicating.
Steve, when do you know when to repot your orchids. I see some of the roots are out of the pot but evidently, you didn't repot. So, plz clarify. Thank you
I’m sorry this question is so late but I just stumbled on your video. I would love to purchase a phalaenopsis schilleriana orchid. Can you tell me where I might find a reputable online store? Thanks!
Humidity is never high where I live in Central Oregon. Is spagnum moss better here? I am watching videos from the far east and they have some intetesting methods. I have the green stuff but I donʼt know if it expires eventually. What do you think?
I received an orchid for Mother’s Day and I do not want to kill it. How do you know, without a doubt, that you’re not watering too much or too little? Note: The roots on top look a little white. The flowers have been beautiful and large for almost 3 months now.
I take a look at the roots through the clear pot. If they are green, don’t water. When they turn white I pt the clear pot in a bowl and water thoroughly . Let it drain completely. Works for me. Just don’t let it sit in water after you water it. Hope this helps
Good vid, actually phalaenopsis comes from Greek, phalena in Greek means whale, and opsis means appearance, but for some reason they gave a moth the name phalena (whale).
Steve I need your help. I have a Phalaenopsis that I’ve had for a few years now but it’s never budded until now. Some weeks back it started budding and looking great then one by one the leaves started turning yellow and falling off. I lost three of them but the plant still looks great and the buds still look great but one by one the little buds are turning yellow and falling off. It has yet to bloom a flower. So far I have lost four little buds. Please tell what you think is going on with it or what I may can do.
I think he was referring to the germination of orchids on a commercial scale using the seeds. From my knowledge this does requires a sterile condition. Orchids usually grow naturally in the wild. But when it comes to producing them on a commercial scale, it does requires sterile condition when growing from seeds to get the best results.
