I will be putting my young potted hybrid Tea rosses in my shed for winter... should I let them go bone dry in winter or just keep them a bit damp until after the last deep frost when I take them out of the shed? (zone 5B)
I plan all my roses In pots as well but it doesn't give me too many bloom. what month did you do your pruning . any suggestions how to get my david austin to give me flowers?
Hello and Thankyou! It’s best to always use fresh mulch in container planting and beds because of the reason of spreading diseases. Usually mulch breaks down at end of growing season and it’s when mulch is added again. 💚
PLEASE let me know exactly which kind of bark mulch you put on the bottom of your planters. Also which mulch on top. Thank you! Also! How long can a barroot rose be soaking in water. I am getting my barroot DA Tranquility tomorrow. My all purpose compost won't be here until Friday. The pots are arriving on the 10th!! Can I soak the roots from the 3rd till the 10???? Please help! I am brand new at this and super nervous. Thank you
We use pine bark mulch. They need to be nugget sized. Also I wouldn’t recommend keeping the bare roots in water longer that three days. If need be keep them moist there days before the 10th. Hope this helps! 💚💚💚💚💚💚
Thank you for the video, hope Angie feels better soon. This is my first time planting DA roses. All of my roses are in pots, but the blooms are small. Is that normal for first time? Should I put fertilizer now? I'm in North Texas, 8a.
Hello I’m getting better and can’t wait to join the family out in the garden. 🙏💐💚 Rose blooms could be small if temperatures are hot, not enough water and not on a regular schedule or rose not pruned hard enough in spring. Also if rose is not getting enough sun. Soil in containers dries out a lot quicker when watering give a good deep watering make sure you see the water coming out of bottom. Check two to four inches of soil with finger to see if it’s dry. We keep ours on a schedule two times per week but sometimes in summer if it gets to hot and soil dries I will give it another watering. 💐💚
