@@SonicaLuda it went well! After surgery coming home she didn’t want to eat or drink, they said that would be normal. I fed her some ice cubes to keep her hydrated. She threw up as soon as she got home, they said she might would. I ended up feeding her half a cup of food an hour after getting home and she threw it up a few hours later. She also didn’t poop for 2 days, but almost 2 weeks out and she’s back to normal. I’ve tried keeping her calm and less jumpy, but now it’s been hard. She gets her staples out next week. @@kelseydew hi! i just got my baby spayed yesterday and she hasn’t been wanting to eat or drink from her bowls. we fed her an egg this morning and she ate it so she was able to take her pain meds!!! she also will only drink water if it’s squirted into her mouth (lol weirdo). do you have any other tips that helped you get yours through this tough time? she hasn’t pooped or puked, which is good i think, and she goes pee. she just seems to be embarrassed and scared of the cone 🥺 i’m so glad your baby is well! ❤️
@@macywisilosky3856 hey Macy!! ❤️ my dog was able to eat/drink normal day after surgery. So for that I have no advice 😞 Maybe try hand feeding her! If you are in the same room with your dog she doesn’t have to wear the cone unless she’s showing interest in her staples/incision, but if you are leaving her more than 5 minutes I recommend putting it back on her! Mine had no interest in hers thank goodness! Just try keeping her calm, I had to put her toys in another room and leash walks around the yard and just shorter walks in general! My dog finally pooped Friday after surgery (her surgery was Wednesday) I was super worried she wasn’t pooping. She is a month out now and she’s completely back to normal, I was hoping this would calm her down overall (not sure if that’s a myth) I’ve noticed she’s been more clingy towards me though. But best of luck to your baby’s recovery and good luck to you!! I was a nervous wreck the first few days 😅
my chocolate lab just got spayed and the surgery went wrong. not only was the dr an idiot and didnt say anything they left her overnight bleeding out. she was bleeding out all the way until I transfered her 1 hour away to a emergency hospital. there her intestines fell out and she had another surgery. she had to stay 24hrs and we are going to get her today. please send prayers and good vibes because my baby needs it ... I can't live without her 😢

Thanks for doing this video. It was very informative and I wish I saw it after my puppy got fixed. He got neutered 2 weeks ago and we put a cone on him and limited his activities . So yesterday I took him in to get stitches removed and found out he removed his on his own. My vet had 3 layers sutured and two healed but one didn't and she had to re-stitch one layer. Wow I guess we should have seen this before! Anyway now it's another two weeks of the cone (a larger1 this time ) and all the fun the poor guy has to deal with the cone. Did your god pee the day after being neutered. My 1 year old husky got neutered yesterday but till right now he hasn’t peed. And he has drinked plenty of water. I don’t know if it’s normal or I should be really worried 🙁
My wife and I just adopted a shelter Pyrenees who’s being fixed before we actually pick her up. I’m sure I’ll get a run down from the vet there, but this video is a great pre-cursor to get prepped for the actual moment… Understanding and preparing for something makes it less intimidating, this video really helped. Thanks for the video. My little dog (12lbs) was attacked by two stray Pit Bulls on 5-8-2022. Their bites crushed/punctured his abdomen and chest wall which required major surgery. He's in recovery right now but is still in critical condition. He's 14yo.
I’m sorry for your little guy, I know I’m late but I hope he’s recovered by now! I personally carry pepper spray on my walks in case of coyote, cougar, or hobo attacks 😂 Look up POM pepper spray, it’s the brand I’ve always carried and I think it’s the max legal potency.
Mine was neutered 2 days ago. The thing I found funny was they asked if we wanted to get him tattooed. I declined. It's pretty apparent his powdered donuts are gone.
I know this old post. May 28/24 my mini dachshund at 1 week she is 10 pounds. Second night was her worst and I had gave pain meds only allowed 6 mg dermaxx not from this vet I’m in another state. Anyway. I just comforted her as much as I could. Also I purchased a surgery suit. She didn’t need the cone but every dog is differnt. I’m so happy we are a week out she’s feeling better and hard to keep up with her wanting to play.

My dog dot fixed this morning and he’s eating and he seems fine/happy but I bought a cushioned cone which seems not to be working! I guess I’ll go get a plastic one first thing tomorrow. Thank you I’m freaking out because I have to dog sit my dog for 8 hours tomorrow by myself and he just got neutered today and just yelped and started crying and bunch and it really scared me and I can’t stop crying because I feel so bad for him

Don't do anything drastic! I felt like immediately taking my Bailey's cone off after surgery. I'm glad I did some research and didn't do that. I gave her plenty of attention and scratches, rubbs on her face. She is recovering well now.

what if they keep whining and panting and wont eat or drink? Its only been 24hrs since my dogs surgery and ive been doing everything in this video but dont know at what point i should determine its not normal or that theres is a problem?
he ended up doing great , me not so much 😂 seeing him zombie like for a week broke my heart 😭 i had to keep reminding myself his whining was normal and as long as he took his medication he wasnt in any pain so that helped put me at ease for the most part 🥹
I heard that you had to keep your spayed dog in the kennel all day except for going potty and that’s it, for about 10 days, then you’re allowed to walk your dog on short walks but then keep them kenneled afterwards until the 14th day, then they don’t have to be kenneled anymore. Is this true? We adopted a dog last month and today she’s getting spayed. She has bad separation anxiety and I’m worried she’ll be scratching up the kennel and freaking out to the point it will ruin her incisions instead. I can keep her on my bed and she will be fine if that’s an option. If not, hey maybe in those 14 days she’ll be completely kennel trained I guess.

Question I got my 6 month old puppy fix and he have been leaking this creaming looking fluid from his second incision, because only one testicle drop it’s been 3 days after his surgery he is still eating good drinking water, peeing and pooping normal I just worry very much. I called the veterinarian and they say it was OK. Used to keep eye on it and clean it as long as no bleeding. He’s gonna be fine but I believe this shouldn’t be happening.😅
my dog just got spayed and she is not moving. she’s sitting down and i know she’s sleepy but won’t lay down! she also won’t eat :( she has to take her meds but no appetite!!!
@@thatssodaylin8253 Thank you so much. She did not eat at all for the first day, but we gave her meds in chicken which she loves and she ate it! She feels a lot better now :) Just waiting for her to be fully healed...
Yes my guy got neutered last week! He didn’t move for the first three days and was very low in energy. He’s normal now and we get the stitches out on Wednesday !!
When should a spayed dog urinate after surgery? Its a day after His surgery hi still doesn’t urinate. Im worried. He doesnt eat much so i dont worry on him pooping. But urinating is.
My female lab is on the 2nd day of being spayed and she’s acting normal and trying to run around and jump off my bed I live but she’s driving me crazy I don’t want her to open the stitches up.
My dog got neutered today and he refuses to keep the cone on and keeps crying. So I had to make do and put a towel around his area so he doesn’t lick it and took off the collar. I hope this will help? I’m a worried mom and he’s also a picky eater and not sure how he’s even gonna wanna eat after this and he needs his strength. Should I try buying liquid protein for dogs?
That "tattoo" was not explained to me by the shelter in reference to my cat so I saw a blue mark on my kitty's tummy and got scared that she got into something
I got my dog neutered Saturday his bitch ass took the cone off and had side effects from the pain meds and he thinks it’s fine but I can’t get him to stop licking the stitches any tips? Before I loose my mind

Neutering your dog causes them a lot of harm. This procedure is very painful. The pain that the animal is inflicted lasts them their entire lives. Please stop doing this. It is a huge injustice. Could you imagine if somebody did that to you? Ni animal wants this to happen to the.

@@allieatchison4828 The procedure went well. Our BT was miserable in the standard plastic cone though. I’d advise you to spring for one of the inflatable comfort cones instead.

I REALLY appreciate this video! My new puppy is 6 months and was nurtured today. We had to have this done at the shelter where we adopted him. I would’ve preferred our personal veterinarian to do this! Unfortunately, they didn’t give me much information and I’m slightly stressed to say the least. When we adopted him 2 weeks ago he was sick and malnourished. They don’t seem like they take very good care of the animals. I’m happy to report he’s gained 4 pounds and is no longer sick and on antibiotics. Thank you for the great information!!

@@g35tho11 A few reasons. He could get rowdy with other dogs trying to hump/mark and I didn’t want him to get hurt. Also I never planned on breeding him since he wasn’t the best genetically health wise and I just generally don’t support BB. Since I knew he would never breed, why force him to deal with urges that would purposefully never be fulfilled. Ive also had a dog in the past that wasn’t neutered and he literally broke out of our fence multiple times after multiple reinforcements to see the females in heat in our neighborhood.. We live by a busy road and thankfully he wasn’t hit by any cars that we know of but I didn’t want that for my dog I have now. After his neuter he was groggy from anesthesia then the next day , We literally had to restrain him in a playpen because he wanted to run around outside , jump on beds and play on his A ramp. He’s doing great now .. fully healed and his temperament is much calmer with us, other dogs, and the cat. I’m glad I didn’t listen to other people who told me not to. He’s a lot happier too since his mind isn’t on humping anything in sight and marking 24/7
@@daijaaki got my dog neutered..the humping definitely stoped but he still randomly start running full speed then try to leap on me and attempts to bite my hands .. I take him to play to the park he’s running etc. then he turns around and goes for my hands like wtf I just turned to using a prong collar works great while he has it on but once off he don’t care ..

Do all vets do spays the same? My dog has an upcoming spay and I'm a little nervous about it because she's only 5 lbs fully grown. She's in heat right now so I scheduled the spay for 5 weeks out, is that enough time for her swelling to be gone, she's been in heat for two weeks already .
wow. I'm so sorry ... my lab just got spayed and it went wrong . had to get transfered to a specialist hospital and when we got there her intestines came out and she had to get a second surgery and stay over night. did they ever say what happened?
My 7 month old Scottie is getting spayed today. she was so happy this morning and played and went on a walk. It makes me sad knowing it will be a couple weeks before she can play hard again :(
Would anyone have an answer to this my dog was spayed today and shes at home,but i wanted her to sleep in the kitchen i had a mattress on the floor which i was gonna stay down atairs as well just for 3-4 days or so but i went to the bathroom and she opened the door and went upstairs to her usual bed,now i dont know can i let her walk down,or should i carry her or just put stuff down that ahe can go to the toilet on and juat let her stay up,sorry for the paragraph i just genuinely dont know atm
